QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 5, 2017 -> 01:50 PM) http://meadowparty.com/blog/2017/10/05/klawchat-10517/ So he's saying don't have any restrictions? If thy want to root out corruption, make an international draft and that's that.

We just had Covey for a year and had Nieto a few years ago. I wouldn't be shocked to see a team take Micker.

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 06:43 PM) Buzzfeed headline: Tillerson, Mattis, Mnuchin have a "suicide pact" in which all 3 would leave if one became Trump's target. https://www.buzzfeed.com/johnhudson/tillers...1JOo#.ydoa1DB7g This I don't like.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 05:30 PM) White House Aides Wanted Rex Tillerson to Resign for Calling Trump a ‘f***ing Moron’ So Moronghazi absolutely happened. And: Oh god if Tillerson and Kelly go in one swoop s*** will get beyond crazy.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) I would venture to guess most of the guns used in Chicago killings weren't purchased at the local gun store. Something like 60% in state. The rest mainly come from Indiana, Wisconsin and Mississippi.

QUOTE (illinilaw08 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 06:13 PM) Because Russia's influence over the last election, and the extent to which one of the campaign's aided or abetted that influence, is currently being investigated by a Special Counsel. Because if even a quarter of the stuff that has been coming out about it turns out to be true, it dwarfs Watergate as the single largest political scandal in American history and would hypothetically set the stage for an actual trial of the century that will dictate the entire future course for the world?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 02:56 PM) Boston lost all of their signings, didn't get their money back for the signings they lost, couldn't try to sign their voided signings again, and picked up an additional period of being blocked from signing any other players over $300k. Draft, not international.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 02:49 PM) I get the feeling they want to establish a precedence against this kind of action, but seeing with what they did to Boston, I don't want to see MLB wanting to create an incentive for players to try to get out of their contracts either. Pushing him back into the international pools kind of accomplishes both instead of creating this huge feeding frenzy of complete free agency. It also follows MLB own rules to a T. He isn't old enough, nor is he considered to have enough professional experience to circumvent the rules. But at the same time, it harms teams that might have had cap space back then but not now. This a real sticky situation. What's the punishment for giving draft picks illegal incentives.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 12:54 PM) It becomes really important the distinction of if he is under the international signing rules or a true free agent. If he is under the international rules, we have zero chance. I feel like playing in the US should basically override that.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:54 AM) That is a really good call. They just freed up a lot of cash, and could still move other players this off season. But fortunately, the Sox basically no cash committed outside of Robert and Abreu. Rodon and Avi the soonest pay raises.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 10:27 AM) They did what they were built to do. Kill in mass. Exactly. And to many he had the right to own them. But the victims only have the "privilege" of health insurance
-
QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Oct 3, 2017 -> 11:05 AM) Guys, Sox can't sign him because of the Robert restrictions. I believe they can't sign anyone for over 300k until 2019, IIRC. There is no way they aren't going to have him subject to International Pool money. It would open up a can of worms that they don't want opened. He'd likely be declared a regular FA.
-
What in all hell? Yes, go all out to sign him, but, what?
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 2, 2017 -> 04:12 PM) You seem like a good guy but that seemed to be a classless post on a day like this. Why post that? Trump is a prick and all that, but he doesn't want all those people killed by a gunman. Because that's what Trump does.

Yeah, let's not discuss the systemic politics that enable this and send thoughts and prayers that it go away.

QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 06:14 PM) I don't think Beer gets close to our second pick. I don't either, but his stock is collapsing and the baseball draft can be cruel. Like Matuella and Hansen were preseason favorites to go 1-1 in their drafts.
-
Assuming the top guys stay in place, the Sox will get one of Singer, Rocker, Turang, Kelenic or Madrigal. Dream is get one of those then hopefully Gray or Beer tumbles to the second.

QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 1, 2017 -> 03:26 PM) With everything that has gone on the last week (or last year for that matter)......why is it "noteworthy"? Because a comedian said it on a satirical show I guess?
-
Don't tread on me, No taxation without representation, etc. are all more applicable now than they have been since 1776.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Sep 30, 2017 -> 11:53 AM) Quin, Please explain to me how Otani leaving Japan now, instead of in two years, makes "feasible sense"? Isn't Japan infamous for running its pitchers into the ground?
-
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 29, 2017 -> 09:54 PM) Neither was Abreu. ' Lmao, I was actually aboard the Abreu to the Sox train because it made feasible sense.
-
Otani isn't coming to the Sox.
-
The best people. The biggliest geniuses.

We all laugh but Tilson is going to be a perennial all-star for the Sox and play 15 straight years of 162 games. But yeah...hoping for him to just kick his voodoo curse.
