QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) Great list. My two biggest complaints are Gillaspie being too high and not including Delmonico. I get that Gillaspie was a top 100 guy for Baseball America last year, but honestly I'm not sure that was warranted based on the scouting reports I've read. I really think he should be in the low to mid 20's after guys like Burdi, Fulmer, Guerrero, Adolfo, & Basabe. And I think Nicky should be in that range as well. He's a much better athlete than Gillaspie, has the ability to play multiple positions (although poorly at this point), and is actually having a solid season. I probably like Nicky's chances of becoming a regular better than Gillaspie's at this point and he also has the floor of useful bat off the bench. Gillaspie it all depends on whether or not you believe he's a fluke. Delmonico's biggest knock (by far) is his defense. Multiple positions is a misnomer - his play in LF the other night was amazingly awful. QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:13 AM) I would rank Stephens as the No. 2 pitcher behind Kopech. He has been so consistent this year. Would like to see him get a few starts with Charlotte this year. Dylan Cease is a little high for me. I would actually switch Stephens and Cease's rankings. By the time he gets to the White Sox, I would expect Cease to be a bullpen arm, where as I expect Stephens to be in the White Sox rotation in 2019. That's a high sell on Stephens and would have him be Top 60 in baseball. Through no fault of his own, he's behind a crazy amount of arms.

QUOTE (KnightsOnMintSt @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 11:06 AM) Big night for pitchers. Would love to see Giolito have a big night, especially with Acuna and Swanson in the lineup for Gwinnett. Man, we would have been ecstatic with Dansby as a centerpiece for Q or Sale. And he was almost as bad as Anderson this year.

If there are two #1 overall caliber talents that the Sox have tied on their board, I'd like them to differ to college before HS and hitter before pitcher. But if they have a HS pitcher #1 and a college bat #2, go with the #1. Get the most premium talent possible and figure the rest out later.

11 names are new to the list just since the preseason. This doesn't include people such as Skoug, Yurchak, Dedelow, Johnson, or Yrizarri. The first four made the just missed and MLB Pipeline initially had Yrizzari as #30 in the Sox system when he was acquired.

The full list is here: http://www.chicagonow.com/future-sox/2017/...2017-full-list/ Any names you're surprised didn't make it? Anyone too high or too low? As Matt found out, this was actually the most homogenous list ever amongst voters.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Aug 5, 2017 -> 12:08 AM) I'm surprised by the relative lack of publicity this comment got. Can you imagine the Republican outrage had Obama said this? The biggest Obama scandals to Republicans were that he ordered dijon mustard and wore a tan suit.

So some crazy s*** happened

So what I saw is basically the scouting report so far - good bat, very rough defense.

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 11:08 PM) I would hope Call. He started the season at Winston-Salem and that's where he should finish. Plus Adolfo's K rate is still above 30% and I don't think promoting him will help in that area. What's really going to be interesting is how they address the OF logjam next year. Call, Fisher, Basabe, Rutherford, Adolfo, & arguably Robert & Gonzalez should all start next year in high A. They'll probably ease Robert into full-season ball by sending him to Kannapolis, but that still leaves six potential OFs for W-S and that doesn't even include interesting but fringier guys in Booker & Schnurbusch. They'll probably have to push Fisher and either Call (more likely) or Basabe (less likely) to AA to create enough playing time for everyone. Good problem to have I guess. Birmingham will need help.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 05:58 PM) UH OH OZZIE'S COMING BACK YOU GUYS Tbh I'm getting to the point that I wish I could combine Ozzie's game calling with Renteria's teaching. -
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 31, 2017 -> 03:39 PM) On paper? Yes. Remains to be seen which of these prospects pan out for us. Just the fact that he was able to get the returns he did in what has become a buyer's market.

Please, someone explain why the White Sox need a new stadium, what The Cell can't provide to necessitate the change, where the new stadium would be and who is paying for it? While I haven't been to all of the stadiums in major league baseball, the The Cell's concourse level is phenomenal. The upper deck sucks, but whenever I'm at the Cell I'll probably spend two or three innings walking the concourse and enjoying the game from various areas. http://afterburnham.com/armour-field/ I'd love for the above field to be something they'd look at when The Cell actually begins to fall apart - build it on top of the old Comiskey site and try to blend the best aspects of The Cell and Comiskey.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 11:20 AM) They all were brought up within the organization within your time frame and made their debuts within your time frame. I don't disagree that the development has been bad but they have had some players I'm also not advocating bringing up Eloy, that is ridiculous Alexei, Abreu both should probably count. Both were immediate impacts, but Alexei was an under the radar steal (I still say he got robbed of a GG and if not for Longoria being an instant star he would have been ROY).

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 07:34 PM) For now? Absolutely. For the long term future of the franchise, new ownership will likely explore building a stadium after the current lease is up. They can privately fund it. If the stadium gets the job done (it does) and has ease of access (does it get any easier?) There is no reason to waste tax dollars on a stadium.
-
If the Sox build a new stadium it will be a colossal waste of money. The nice party about the Cell's initial cookie cutter interior is that it made it extremely upgradeable.

QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 30, 2017 -> 10:17 AM) Don't change my message, please. I've never used the word "hate" when it comes to the owner. I have zero personal animosity to the man, as I've never met him. However, this is a White Sox message board, correct? And Jerry Reinsdorf is the owner of the White Sox, correct? And that means decisions he makes as owner have a direct bearing on the team's results and that which we as fans want to support? Well, do the math. Line up the years and years of those decisions with the results on the field, and see what you get. You get criticism of those decisions given the routine losing of the organization. The original poster of this thread brought up one of those decisions from 20 years ago that happened to be a doozy, and so I shared my point of view on that decision. I think I made valid points, but at no time did I inject emotion suggesting personal hatred for the man. I just want him to stop making bad decisions. Sadly, I've been waiting an awful long time for that to happen. How many times have completely different people asked you if Reinsdorf ran over your dog? Either there's actually a Jerry-flattened dog, or you have a legitimate obsession with the man.

QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 07:37 PM) Rodon, Giolito, Lopez, a free agent and Shields. Sale, Quintana, Samardzija, Rodon and Frankie Montas will be good enough for the 2015 season! QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ Jul 29, 2017 -> 07:42 PM) They came into this season with trash and spun it into gold. I wouldn't worry too much about the pen. They'll find some guys this second half they like. Robertson Putnam Petricka Jones Jennings Duke Albers Our nails 2015 bullpen will also get it done!
