QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) Thanks for posting. While I wish there was Kris Bryant type college bat at the top, it sounds like Turang, Kelenic, & Gray are all elite high school talents. I'd be happy with any of those three and I think we'll have a great chance at one of them. Well, you've got Beer's bat. His glove however...

Luis Robert out for at least 7 days
QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 11:09 PM) Ask the DR witch doctor where we will send him. $50 MM outlay and we leave the kid in DR. You do know that the Dominican Republic has hospitals, right?

Luis Robert injured
QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Jul 8, 2017 -> 02:24 PM) There's two common types of injury to the meniscus, which is like a pad that your knee joint uses as cushioning, lateral and medial tears. Usually a lateral tear is considered worse than a medial tear but often times in young athletes if it's minor enough to where he was playing on it, rest is the prescribed course of action and if the pain persists than you go under the knife for a repair. If it's a one time thing there's no worry but if it's something chronic for him it will impact his career and be something to worry about. As for the idea that this injury was caused by being in DR that's just laughable. This could happen to any young athlete, anywhere, especially one ramping up activity after a period of inactivity in their chosen sport. The Sox no doubt have very good doctors and facilities down there to evaluate him, that's not even a minor concern IMO. If he does have to have surgery, which is unlikely given the seeming severity, he will probably have it done in the States. For now we just have to wait and see how his knee feels in a week or two. The best case will be he's back in action, the worst case will be the pain and inflation persists and he has to have a surgical repair. But even then, it's a very common procedure, NBA players have it quite frequently, and as I side, unless it becomes a chronic issue, it's a one time repair and the player returns 100%. I sprained my meniscus in highschool and tore it my senior year of college. I thought being in the USA would protect it.

Marvel Entertainment Thread
QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 04:09 PM) Saw Spider-Man this morning and I couldn't stop smiling the entire time. Easily my favorite Marvel movie and one of my favorite CBMs ever. I was really excited for this when they announced that it was going to be a John Hughes inspired movie but I hated all of those awful trailers and Iron Man's inclusion had me worried but he's not a big part of the film. It might be the funniest MCU film too. Keaton was awesome as Vulture. I loved how they got a bunch of famous child actors to play Peter's classmates in the movie like the boy from Beast of No Nation and the little girl from the Nice Guys. I don't want to spoil anything so Ill stop there, all around awesome movie. Homecoming The First Avenger Guardians The Winter Soldier Dr. Strange I've got Civil War Homecoming Winter Soldier Guardians 2 The Avengers

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 12:43 PM) It's like they could've had Cleveland by the balls, especially with their 13245 picks, and yet they completely f***ed it up. They could have had... Thomas - Butler/George - Hayward - Johnson - Horford with Smart off the bench. Hell they could could have had George AND Butler with all those damn assets.

Quintana
Instead of Brinson, see if they'd compromise on Ray-Hader dual headliner.

QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 09:24 AM) Jon Morosi @jonmorosi 44s Sources: #Brewers are prepared to buy at Trade Deadline and have begun background work on Jose Quintana, Sonny Gray and other starters. @MLB Brewers are the dark horse I've been waiting for.

The Korea Situation; It's Very Serious
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 7, 2017 -> 12:28 AM) I guess we can wait and see. But frankly I'm scared. We have a pretty unstable President it appears and kind of a strange duck as president IMO. He's pretty much capable of attacking N Korea at any moment. And we've got china and Russia who do not appear to be very sympathetic toward our position. If China and Russia wind up backing N. Korea on this for whatever reason, I think it's a tense situation. AMERICA WILL NEVER FALL TO COMMUNIST INVASION BETTER DEAD THAN RED DEMOCRACY IS NON-NEGOTIABLE

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 6, 2017 -> 12:46 PM) Their leverage will increase when and if more closers hit the market. The Reds' guy has twice Robertson's value: younger, cheaper, more control, having a better year. And the Sox can add in any of their other arms.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 5, 2017 -> 04:08 PM) Tatis Jr. is more than two years younger than Adolfo and has the chance to play a premium position (and I'm not an Adolfo hater by any means) 3B is more premium than RF?

I imagine Verlander's contract and asking price only helps the Sox in the Quintana market.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 05:17 PM) To me, it's more that you make a move that makes absolutely no sense and then turn around and completely blow it up a few months later. Did Hahn really think Shields was the missing link last year? Oh it was definitely a bad move and I'm not saying it's above critique. But people that lovery ragging on rebuilding get mad about it and it's hysterical.

I love that people that are vehemently against the rebuild keep pouring 40s on the ground for Tatis. Goes to show its less "I hate rebuilds" and more "I hate any move the front office does."

Who will be the first player traded?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 03:20 PM) Why would anybody want Melky or Frazier? Seriously. The relievers everybody's high on will not bring back much. Relievers who are not closers don't bring back much. Who is the Sox projected closer anyway once we deal David? We have to keep somebody so we'll keep Swarzik and Kahnle since they won't bring back anything of note. I don't think Jerry has bought into the losing every game thing has he? ???

Who will be the first player traded?
QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 4, 2017 -> 02:09 PM) I would assume it's Robertson. The ONLY two on the whole list who will be traded are Quintana and Robertson. That will pretty much assure two more major holes for next season on the team and pretty much guarantee the cellar again. It'll be the buzzkill the Sox need (sarcasm) heading into the offseason. Not trading Swarzak, Melky or Frazier would be idiotic. I voted Swarzak as he should have a good balance if demand/price.

QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 3, 2017 -> 09:31 PM) Slightly? Stevens is a great coach. A lineup of Horford/Crowder/George/Hayward/Thomas with Smart dogging off the bench (and if they trade two future firsts and Brown for George they'd have Tatum too) is the biggest competition Lebron had since the 2010 Celtics. I actually like that team to beat the Cavs. 2011 Bulls?
