  1. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 04:44 PM) No chance we'd get both Moncada and Benintendi, but either is perfectly reasonable as a centerpiece if the other pieces are strong. Benintendi is going to be an absolute monster. The contact rate is good, the plate discipline is good, and I've seen the power with my own eyes -- he played our team the year he was drafted, and hit two homers, one of which is the only ball I've ever seen clear the fence, the road, and land in the water outside the Staten Island Ferry. The pop is legit. After the Pomeranz and Chapman deals, Sale probably has the most trade value of any player in MLB history at this exact moment.
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) There is some trading deadline mega bong hits going on here. Kolek for Gonzalez, now Shields, the guy who at one time should have cost RH his job, and the guy who should have been released no matter how much they owed him, doesn't have a bad contract and could net a decent return. I imagine the Sox will do something, but I think those thinking they are about to delete half their roster and get about 20 prospects with half of them in the top 50 are going to be disappointed. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) The only reason I threw it out there was because of the TJS for Kolek putting his future in the air to some extent, and because the market this year is just crazy. This is why I keep adding "I would never stop laughing"
  3. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 01:05 PM) Why would you trade Gonzalez just to trade him? He has more value to the Sox than a team like the Marlins, especially if they move Sale or Quintana. Because Kolek is an arm the Sox could definitely develop. It'd be like getting a more hyped version of Montas for Miguel Gonzalez.
  4. QUOTE (ChiSoxJon @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) Although Kolek has awful stats and is now recovering from TJS I'd take a Gonzalez-Kolek swap in a heartbeat being that Gonzalez is a luxury and Kolek's prospect status I don't think I have words for how great a deal that would be
  5. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) I haven't seen anyone agreeing with what Sale did. It seems to be pretty universally accepted that Chris was wrong. But management definitely shoulders some of the blame here as well. Greg, Mike, a few others in this thread.
  6. Please, everyone help with what you can. Donate, share, anything.
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jul 26, 2016 -> 12:17 AM) The Mariners got Vogelbach from the Cubs for Mike f***ing Montgomery so anything is possible. This is true.
  8. Beating the Cubs always feels good
  9. WHOOP WHOOP Still sell though
  10. Oh my god if we got Kolek for Gonzalez I'd never stop laughing.
  11. Ok, here's the crazy "sell 'em all" packages that assumes each other team's GM is Dombrowski. 1) Sale to Dodgers for Urias, Pederson, De Leon, Holmes/Montas and Verdugo 2) Quintana, Robertson and Jennings to Red Sox for Moancada, Benintendi, Devers and Swihart 3) Eaton and Duke to Cardinals for Grichuck and Flaherty 4) Frazier and Jones to Giants for Phil Bickford and Lucius Fox. 5) Melky and Lawrie to Mets for Brandon Nimmo. So ultimately out... Sale, Quintana, Robertson, Jennings, Eaton, Duke, Frazier, Jones, Melky, Lawrie. In... MLB: Pederson - CF, Swihart - OF/C, Grichuck - OF, Prospects: Urias (#2), Moancada (#5), Devers (#14), De Leon (#20), Benintendi (#21), Flaherty (#68), Montas (#82), Verdugo (#89), Bickford (#99), Fox and Nimmo. Add that to your current core of Anderson, Fulmer, Rodon with Collins, Burdi, Hansen, Call and Fisher all hopefully fast risers. And then they all bust.
  12. Baez for Sale, straight up.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) I'm a Bernie guy but these anti Hillary Bernie supporters are pissing me off. Like STFU and look at the big picture. Now Rosario Dawson is running her mouth. Hope they watch Bernie's speech tonight and snap out of it. The Berners are ridiculous. A shantytown? A fart-in? This is the most privileged revolution I've ever watched unfold.
  14. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) Also, we've heard this is a sellers market and all the trades so far have indicated that. Hope Hanh can extract maximum value on all fronts. It's time we clearly WIN a trade or three. Sale, Robertson and Frazier would top my list of guys that get sent off. Jennings, Duke, Jones, Melky, Lawrie I can see staying or going
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I don't like Hahn for personal reasons that go all the way back to how he treated people at Harvard Law...but mostly because he has done a pretty lousy job. Again, my apologies. But also, WTF. Your life is fascinating.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 03:35 PM) That was in addition to Moncada and Benitendi as one of the additional pieces, fwiw. I stand completely corrected and you have my apologies. Granted, I still don't think the Red Sox can ever convince Hahn to take Castillo or Pablo.
  17. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) I think Caufield was answering who plays 3B for the Red Sox. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) Um....he was answering the question of "who do the Red Sox have at third?" Quoted the wrong post. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:02 PM) Beane.... They will never in a million years give up Betts, Bradley, Jr., or Bogaerts in season. Perhaps they'll throw in Castillo and eat the majority of his salary...or Sandoval...leaving the Sox free to trade Frazier as well. Doubt they'd have much interest in Sandoval, though. If the Red Sox say they need to include Castillo or Sandoval in a trade for Chris Sale, the Red Sox might as well pony up their Top 10 or just hang up.
  18. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) Travis Shaw/Moncada/Sandoval You are the ultimate downer on this board and I think it's pretty clear at this point you don't like the White Sox. I understand not liking the Sox organization, but your constant underrating of Sox players and love fest towards other teams or players is laughable at best and old schtick at worst. Chris Sale is a HoF pitcher. The Sox aren't taking Pablo f***ing Sandoval back in a deal.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:50 AM) Replace Betts with Devers and Kopech and I think it's more realistic. I just don't see many contenders subtracting main pieces like Betts (unless they dealt Betts and kept Benintendi to replace Betts with). We saw Beane do it with Lester-Cespedes. Sometimes desperate times call for desperate measures. We can give them...J.B. Shuck.
  20. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:45 AM) I'd make that trade but I don't know that Boston would (at least in-season). I've learned to never doubt Dombrowski.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) I thought last year was his first at Arizona? Second. First year (age 17) wasn't great, but he was 17 in the AZL. Last year he improved, but got hurt. This year he's been hurt, but is a 19-year-old in A ball. His injuries have constantly been freak accidents, so no real reason to write him off yet.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:28 AM) The price that pitchers are going for right now suggests the Sox should be able to completely stock their system in a Sale trade. It's such that Betts, Moancada, Benintendi and Swihart for Sale/Robertson no longer seems crazy.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 11:22 AM) I was hoping this was a show me year for Micker Adolfo and boy is he not showing. He has always just been this unseen hype, he finally gets stateside and was mostly injured. Now his first full year and he's not hitting for power, obp or average. Have a hard time imagining someone can recover from a line that bad. He's always been stateside.
  24. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Jul 25, 2016 -> 10:00 AM) This was handled so poorly I can't help but wonder if he wasn't set up so the fans (all 20,000 of them) won't go ballistic when he is dealt. They tried to cover this one up, like how they have others. But sometimes s*** is too crazy.
