Getz is the guy who lists 100 different skills in a resume, but you know he started listing things like "baseball IQ," "student of the game," and "don't rely on sabermetrics like other baseball executives."
Cause industry consensus was Adley #1, Witt #2.
#3 was where it got murky because Vaughn had an extremely well liked bat until the White Sox got their grips on him, but he's a first baseman.
To be fair, he was hired from the consulting firm and the Cards wanted him to come in and help implement data and analysis.
So basically, I agree with you. Hiring an outsider could be smart, but the Sox are dumb.
So either he's been here all year implementing his, uh, "strategy" and it's been catastrophically bad.
Or
He's been here all year and won't be making recommendations until the offseason, once again proving that JR's sales pitch of Getz was a crock of s%*#.
While Vargas is under contract, I think I would rather see literally anyone at 3B than him. Moncada, Ramos, Colas, Sheets, Crochet. Anyone.
So if they're robbing Ramos of at-bats, at least it won't be Vargas. Or it probably will.
