Juan Soto to Mets. 15 years/765m
I think the contracts handed out by the Dodgers, Padres, Mets, Yankees, Giants*, Angels**, and Blue Jays can put this stupid argument to rest. *Don't forget that they had Correa until his medicals were busted. **Results may vary.

Chris Getz and Vargas/Fletcher/Shewmake/Julks/Amaya/Robinson/DeLoach (all Getz acquisitions under .300 OBP) after they get Reverse Golden Battered too many times:

Manfred: mlb considering “Golden at bat” rule
I've decided how I want this implemented. - You can use the Golden Batter after the 7th inning. - Counts as 2 outs (can carry over if you already have 2 outs) - Opponent can sub in a pitcher, even if it breaks the 3-batter minimum. - If the Golden Batter hits a home run, it becomes a home run derby.

Manfred: mlb considering “Golden at bat” rule
I hate this, but if they're gonna do it, make it risky: Golden batter outs are two outs (and they can carryover to the next inning or some nonsense). Skip Bananaball. Go full Blernsball.

The Dodgers are the New York Yankees of baseball with the way they make money. For the uninitiated: RDT_20241129_205602.mp4

I mean, let's give Getz credit: He did acquire a NLCS* MVP SS worth the largest contract in team history for Fedde and Pham. *Typed World Series, not NLCS

Poles could have hired Harbaugh and avoided the hot seat. Instead, he now has to nail the first three picks. If he doesn't shore up both lines in FA and the draft, he's doomed.- 24-25 NFL Thread

I know I'm defending the Dodgers flexing on the rest of baseball, but for the sake of arguing the other side: The NBA saw the super teams break the league and addressed it with new salary cap rules. Since the LeBron-Warriors faced off 4 straight times: Warriors vs. Raptors* Lakers* vs. Heat Suns vs. Bucks* Warriors* vs. Celtics Nuggets* vs. Heat Mavericks vs. Celtics*- Dodgers defenestrating Sox, Snell signs 5 years, $182 million
What's broken is other teams' front offices. The Dodgers are simply taking advantage of that. Franchises that are willing to spend money on farm systems, free agents and analytics will catch-up - not surprisingly, those teams include the Yankees, Mets, Phillies and Padres. Think of what team has historically fought those trends. *Edit: Forgot to put "free agents" in there. Whoops.- Dodgers defenestrating Sox, Snell signs 5 years, $182 million
Which required the Red Sox and Braves fumbling. So baseball may be broken, but it's because of Friedman setting up the Dodgers to exploit other teams' mistakes.- Dodgers defenestrating Sox, Snell signs 5 years, $182 million
The funny thing is that the Dodgers weren't signing big free agents until Freeman. Then they decided to start breaking the bank. - 24-25 NFL Thread
