  1. Paging Jose Abreu, where are you...
  2. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) btw, since round 1, the sox didn't even attempt to take the BPA. It's been said, but Hickman was definitely BPA.
  3. I love the Fulmers, Stephens, Hickman and Glines picks. I'll call loving half of the teams draft picks through two days pretty good.
  4. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 02:30 PM) Corey Zangari, drafted as a 1b man 355 on BA's top 500. Okay. Well, that's not good at 172. Loving Fulmer and Stephens. Iffy on Zangari and Erwin.
  5. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 01:35 PM) Fry was overslot and dominated a good conference. Erwin is probably underslot. They're just college lefties getting picked in semi-close. No similarities other than that in my mind. Well I look dumb.
  6. FYI when I said smells of Fry, I meant that underslot lefty with not as dominating stuff (on the surface). That's what I remember hearing a lot about Fry last year at this time.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 09:43 AM) If Fulmer doesn't have a nickname, I vote for the Black Swan. It goes well with our animal theme. Condor, The Flying Serpent, Shark What do we give Rodon?
  8. I wouldn't trade Shark for Baez, let alone Quintana. Same for Schwarber. Russell+ is what I want for Quintana. You don't get The Flying Serpent for cheap.
  9. QUOTE (LDF @ Jun 9, 2015 -> 12:32 AM) interesting post. i may not agree with your ranking, but then again, everyone will have a different opinion. I'm higher on Danish than most, for what it's worth. But this is all of their potentials if they hit their ceilings...floors... Sale: Ace Samardzjia: Good #3 Quintana: Good #3 Rodon: #4 Fulmer: Bullpen Montas: Bullpen Adams: #5 Danish: #5 Also imagine a rotation with Sale, Rodon, Samardzjia, Quintana and Fulmer/Danish. The intensity would be beyond insane. Quintana would look like the quietest pitcher in the universe.
  10. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 11:52 PM) That's true, but there's also the question of marginal benefit and diminishing returns. The Sox have an Ace: Sale Rodon was drafted to be an ace - he likely will be if he develops a 3rd pitch (which the Sox don't seem overly interested in, but still) Fulmer was drafted to be an ace. (one would think with a top 10 pick; you certainly don't draft bullpen pitchers in the top 10) They also have as dependable a 3 as you can get in Q, which means he slides to 4. So, where do you get your most marginal benefit. From a 3rd ace, or from a hitter for an org devoid of hitters? I think there's some diminishing returns at work. Unless the sox move an arm. Sale: Ace Rodon: Ace potential Samardzjia: Elite #2 Jose Quintana: Elite #2 That's the starting four... Fulmer: Ace potential Adams: Ace potential Danish: Elite #2 potential Montas: Elite #2 potential You simply need one of those four to be a good #5 for an elite rotation. Anything more and suddenly you've got some exciting and very valuable trade chips.
  11. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:13 PM) Cubs get a guy who hit .422/.483/.749 (in NCAA Div 1, albeit a weak conference) with a pick that could have been the White Sox Sox get a guy who went 13-2 with a 1.82 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, 12 K/9 and 3.3 BB/9 in the best conference in college baseball.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 10:39 PM) No, because he is unlikely to sign if picked so low by a team with a small draft budget. Considering the lack of picks for the Sox, you need to make sure you can sign the guy. But at this rate, he's looking at risking not getting drafted all together if something happens next year at Duke He's in a very, very sticky situation.
  13. Chances Matuella makes it to the fourth? If so, do you take him?
  14. I have a friend who is an Astros fan that has been talking for weeks about how excited he was to see the Astros win at the Cell in person.
  15. QUOTE (Real @ Jun 8, 2015 -> 07:07 PM) probably because the sox cant develop hitters And they can develop some good pitchers, which can be traded.
