QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 05:17 PM) I would trade Shark, Montas and Avisail for Puig. I don't think they want Avi but I'd do it. I don't really care, get me Puig. I'd do it.

If the Dodgers were willing to do Shark+ for Puig, what would you guys offer?
  6. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:45 PM) Lexi is so bad and Saladino so hot it's a no brainer. Trade Lexi now for whatever you can get for him and insert Tyler at ss. Isn't Anderson coming soon? Tyler can hold the fort til then. Anderson is at least a year away. Let him at least get to AAA.
  7. If the Sox can get an MLB ready or closer hitting prospect for Jeff, I'd think long and hard about signing him in the offseason if the contract isn't obscene. If the Sox returned next year with Sale-Q-Rodon-Jeff as their front four, then they have to start selling on some of EJ-Fulmer-Danish-Adams-Montas for hitting.
  8. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) I was made fun of for how many times I said I wanted Grandal. Ugh. Wasn't made fun of, but the two catchers I wanted to acquire most in the past year were Grandal and Jakson Reetz.

  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 22, 2015 -> 07:23 AM) All of this Arenado talk is silly. Not going anywhere. Still an interesting set of circumstances. This is an example of perhaps bringing him up too early in his rookie year (2013). Regardless, he is up for arbitration next year and his agent is Scott (Let me turn you over) Boras. He is going to get a major contract out of the Rockies and the Rox will not trade Tulo. I really think they want to trade Cargo for pitching. Plus they have other cost controlled options in the outfield. Cargo will be available, I am sort of certain. My post was entirely facetious. I'd like to keep Sale and Q on the staff long term.
  11. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 09:02 PM) Why would the Rockies trade their best player, nearly a superstar at a premium position...for Jose Quintana? How would that improve their future prospects? It would also require sending Montas or Anderson along and probably even a lesser prospect. 1. Quintana + Anderson + Davidson for Arenado 2. Sale + Avi + Montas for Pederson, Puig, Urias and Seager 3. Shark for Pentecost and Hoffman. 4. Watch fans be flabbergasted at the whirlwind of moves.
  12. Saladino is so refreshing to watch.

QUOTE (jdupps @ Jul 21, 2015 -> 05:02 PM) They probably wouldn't but a Kershaw, Greinke, Sale trio in any playoff series would be awfully tough for anyone to beat. That trio basically guarantees a ring. And that's the only package I take for Sale. Other than absolutely fleecing thr Cubs.
  15. Pity our pitching. Pity them.
  16. http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2015/07/l...accountability/ In the first "Lip Service" column, Mark looks at loyalty without accountability in the org.
  17. Current bullpen: Robertson Duke Putnam Petricka Webb Albers Jennings with Jones coming back. Who gets moved? I have a feeling Petricka or Putnam could each bring back an interesting prospect. Or does Hahn hold the bullpen together for a run next year?
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Isn't this just following the same path Johnson's always taken? Go to one level and do solid, not great. Repeat the level and dominate. Offensively, he has little left to prove in AAA. Granted, Sanchez always seemed to suck when moving up a level and then becoming very good.
  19. An absurd, western style recap of the Royals series. Enjoy Melky Cabrera riding a bull and Alexei Ramirez's saxophone solo! http://www.chicagonow.com/soxnet/2015/07/w...royal-shootout/
  20. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 02:49 PM) Great post. I think all your suggestions are good ones. As far as Robin, he's very calm, boring which the team "needed" after Ozzie. The old cliche is you have a fiery nutjob like Ozzie, then you go with the boring calm guy. Our next manager will probably be a Sabes guy, just have a feeling. Probably an up and coming Madden type if there are any. Personally I'd bring back Ozzie with a GREAT bench coach in case Ozzie implodes again. Have all sorts of stipulations in the contract that Ozzie must muzzle himself or get fired/fined. Any controversial statements about Castro, etc., a $50,000 fine each time. Jerry decides on whether the statement is fine-worthy. You don't say?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 08:43 AM) Ant-Man was fine. Pretty formulaic Marvel movie at this point. Had a few laughs, that you seen coming a mile away. Plot was bland. The action was fun and Paul Rudd was by far the best thing about the movie. Would have loved to have seen what Edgar Wright would have done with the movie. He obviously wanted to do something different with it and Marvel put the brakes on it. Eh, he wanted to go against the continuity of the MCU. When the franchise is 11 films deep and has their slate laid out, that's just not possible. Meanwhile Ant-Man was a fun ride. I expected Michael Douglas to phone it in on this performance but no, he really sold Hank Pym.
  22. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 20, 2015 -> 10:53 AM) Thought this was a very interesting read and Mark put together an excellent case for why we should be patient on Ramirez. I was expecting the stats to back up the fact that he wasn't hitting the ball hard, but it seems like, more then anything, Ramirez is going through some undue luck at the plate (driven largely from a low BAPIP and an even lower HR bat (despite having good exit velocities and typical line drive rates (compared to his career). While we have seen some defensive regression, Ramirez has made some major positive jumps in the defensive metrics over the past month as well, which would indicate a lot of what was going on defensively was mental (and for all I know, might have been a carry forward from some errors he took too rough and/or his offensive struggles). Given how much heat Alexei takes on here, I thought this was a good read and I agree on the premise. Unless another team was going to give us prospects betting on a Ramirez bounce back, their is far more upside in us keeping him and seeing him turn around during 2nd half (to justify bringing him back) vs. losing him for near nothing. Now if you could get an intriguing prospect, matters get interesting, but if we did that, we'd open up a major hole at a critical position wihle intending to contend. This would become a moot point of if we acquired a SS (or top SS prospect elsewhere) but Tim Anderson is still pretty raw and probably at least a year away (and maybe longer if we are talking about defense, an area of need), so while I think Anderson's bat could play next year and be ready, his glove at SS is a major work in process. Mike* (Eminor 3rd on this board). He raises great points about what exactly has caused Alexei to just drop off.
  23. Ant-Man is fantastic. I've got Cap 2 and Guardians ahead of it in terms of MCU films, but after that it's in a three way tie with Iron Man and The Avengers.
  24. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 19, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Gillaspie is a better hitter than Beckham or Bonifacio. And he can play 1st. Irrelevant when you have LaRoche and Abreu
