  1. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 03:49 PM) You and your greg hard-ons man. Lmao, J4L was Greg's biggest defender for a long time. I'll give you a hint, Kyyle alluded to him on the last page.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 03:08 PM) I don't know why you do this...you always undersell him. Every living being on the planet with legs or eyes will have one of these. Most famous clothing line in the Marianas Trench? C'mon, what do you think? Next stop, Mars and Jupiter. Hey now, I came up with Quetzalcoatl thing, so if anything I should demand royalties
  3. QUOTE (Waygodai @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:38 PM) Hooole up, playa just cuz I refuse to partake in the ongoing Tanker orgy & happen to like Deng as a 3rd option at 10-12 mill or whatever he’s currently making. doesn’t mean I would mind one bit Bulls let him go or traded Deng for a big-upside prospect -- and this is where, again, it’s important for Bulls scouts & coaches to have credibility, because if Bulls are in the lottery in this pathetic East, it will have meant the organization is fundamentally F’d because those responsible for talent-evaluation & development, are utterly incompetent. Double-yay for 5 percent chance at Wiggins or Jabari, though! No worries broham, I wouldn’t give too much credence to these reports, anyway. I have a feeling they are just saying this to keep several parties calm with the status-quo, or perhaps to send message to prospective trade partners that the price for Deng wouldn’t be as low as they would hope, that he is a valued part of Bulls future plans. While telling the casual $$$-paying Bulls fans that they are not tanking the season, afterall. Who knows what the exact motivation is. So much can change between now and next summer, as Bulls unfortunately experienced in last 2 years. Deng may want too much $$$. Deng’s Achilles may scare Reinsdorf off; Butler and Snell with increased playing time, may take that next step up and make Deng expendable. Or Luol may revert back to his old tunnel-vision self and start ball-handling & chucking too much, thereby pissing off Thibs and the FO, which, in turn, would start a media war with Deng’s camp…. cue ugly divorce. And if everyone keeps going down with injuries, and Bulls top draft pick next year despite Thibs best efforts to win..... that'd be OK, too. Po-tay-to, po-tah-to Deng is making $14M and likely wants a raise to around $15-16M if they really are $5-6M apart. Which would be an idiotic amount to pay Luol Deng. Last time he was overpaid, sucked at the beginning of the contract, turned it around, and now in his contract year is having his best season because he wants to get overpaid again. It's not just Wiggins and Parker either, it's Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Randle, Exum, and Smart followed by LaVine, Gordon, Vonleh, Harris, and Hood. This draft is simultaneously top heavy AND deep. Those first six all have the ability to be franchise players, the next ones could be All-Stars. Then you have a bunch of guys who could be good role players. I think my dream scenario is getting ahead of Utah in the top 3 and taking Parker. Then packaging the Bobcats pick and a pick received from trading Deng to move up and take LaVine. Take a backup center with our 2nd rounder. Rose/Augustin Snell/LaVine Parker/Butler Mirotic/Taj Noah/2nd Rounder Have LaVine in the 6th man sparkplug role while Jimmy and Taj make the bench mob formidable defensively.
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:48 PM) If it is even close on draft grades, I hope the Sox take the pitcher. I have complete faith their ability to develop them, and the opposite in their record for position players. And as this offseason has shown, you can flip excess pitching for MLB ready hitters.

QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:26 PM) Just ordered an Ouya, curious to see what this thing will be able to do. Don't get excited. This buzzkill brought to you by Quin.
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) Or even half would do the trick... Hell, a quarter would. Let's say 15 teams place bids on Tanaka at $20M. That's $75M.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 02:03 PM) Quintana should just have a drawing of Quetzalcoatl on his back. Best selling jersey in the history of the MLB.
  8. Kenny Williams trades definitively won: Borchard for Thornton Freddy Garcia trade Peavy trade Youkilis trade Contreras trade Danks - McCarthy trade Kenny Williams trades arguably won: Edwin Jackson - Daniel Hudson trade Javy Vazquez trade Thome trade Ken Griffey Jr. trade Kenny Williams trades neither win nor lost: Mark Teahen trade (Fields and Getz are hot garbage, so it was lateral) Mike Sirotka trade Liriano trade Jon Garland trade Trades Williams lost: Nick Swisher trades 1 & 2 I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple, but feel free to debate about how Kenny gave up too much other than the awful Swisher deals.
  9. QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 01:22 PM) His badness escalated quickly Chris Cotillo ‏@ChrisCotillo 4m Kevin Youkilis will sign with the Rakuten Golden Eagles in Japan, according to reports. Ah, hopefully he sells Tanaka on the White Sox. "Don't go to Boston. They'll think you're Dice-K."

QUOTE (RegionSox @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:40 PM) I always wondered why baseball makes the manager and coaches wear the uniforms. You don't have that in any other sport. Other sports would look really damn funny.

6 should be available. Coached other than Robin should have to pick high numbers.
  12. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 20, 2013 -> 12:23 AM) I'm much older than you and I'm struggling to remember the Bulls' last title. A super, duper golden oppo is here. We'll never acquire a star through FA or trade. This is our only way. And they're (front office) sabotaging it. I think Deng and Dunleavy are gone at the deadline.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 10:59 PM) Noah tried going to Thunder locker room to say bye to Thabo and Perkins was having none of it and yelled at him. What an ogre. f*** Perkins. And that wall of text about Pro-Tankers not getting it. It's a lost season. I love the Bulls and want a championship I can remember. Parker/Wiggins gets closer to that than a first round thumping by the Heat.
  14. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 06:40 PM) I've seen this said quite a bit - worth noting that per Fangraphs, Alejandro De Aza had a defensive WAR of -3.2 in 153 games (7.7 in 2011, 0.2 in 2012) whilst Adam Eaton's was -11.2 in 66 games. (UZR/150 in CF in 2013, De Aza: -4.1, Eaton: -46.2. UZR is best used over 3 seasons, not 66 games.
  15. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Dec 19, 2013 -> 05:11 PM) Catcher. It helps that like 90% of catchers they might have interest in are switch hitters.
  16. It can, but like others said everything needs to go right. Abreu would have to be "The Best Hitter on the Planet" like Grantland called him. Viciedo would have to hit .260ish with about 25 HR Eaton would have to be at least .275 with a .350 OBP and terror on the paths. Davidson would have to mash around 25 HR. Alexei would have to find his power return a bit and focus on defense more. Gordon would have to hit like he did last year when not injured. AviGar would have to be a strong middle of the order bat. Dunn would have to be Dunn pre-White Sox. Whoever is catcher would have to not suck. Sale and Q are fine but could improve, Danks needs to rebound to 2008 form, EJ and Rienzo/Paulino have to be good #4s and #5s. Bullpen would have to click.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 07:14 AM) Got the Disney Infinity starter pack for my kids. Don't know if I am prepared for the financial drain those toys will provide You can play in Toy Columbia from BioShock Infinite.
  18. The Bulls and Deng are apparently $5-$6M apart per year in contract talks according to Cowley. What in the hell is he demanding?
  19. Better tackling form would solve a lot as opposed to the "Drill a guy as hard as you can" And it sounds crazy, but I'd add a 'concussion limit' to players. Like, 2 concussions, you're done for the season. Something like 5 total (and that's setting it high) and you're done. Period.
  20. Looking at these lists...damn our system improved a lot.
  21. QUOTE (bear_brian @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 09:16 PM) Lucroy, Castro, Grandal - we do not have the pieces to put a deal together for any of those catchers, and it is very hard to believe that those teams would be interested in trading that type of valuable player. Realistically we are going to have to settle for a backup - preferably LH or switch - who has good defensive skills and can put the bat on the ball. I think someone like Hector Sanchez (blocked forever by Posey) fits that profile, though I am not sure what we have that would interest the Giants (Keppinger?). Am not fluent enough with other backups, but have to believe that is where Hahn is focused. The Padres top prospect is a catcher, which might make them more willing to trade Grandal after he comes off an injury shortened season. A package of Sanchez, Beck, Flowers/Phegley (to act as a stop gap to Hedges, both would have legit power even in Petco) and maybe Thompson or Mitchell might entice them.
  22. Just as greg was our poem writer, we have found our essay writer.
  23. Grandal. He feels like a similar situation to Eaton buy low in that he was injured and someone else is going to occupy that spot for the Padres soon. Throw in Biogenesis and he could be the perfect buy low candidate.

Zito didn't prevent the Giants from winning two World Series. I doubt Tanaka would if he became a worst case scenario.

QUOTE (shakes @ Dec 18, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) That's a whole lot of hypothetical. Again, Tanaka will potentially require 7 years and $150 million. For a guy who hasn't started more than 23 games in a season and scouts are split on whether he is even a top of the rotation starter....let alone an 'Ace'. He has had declining velocity and doesn't strike out a whole lot of hitters in a far inferior league, and historically pitchers from that league have not stayed healthy or succeeded long term here. But, who cares the White Sox can eat a 7 year contract when according to some, you specifically, have far too many holes to compete right now. Brilliant. And the Sox strength is finding and developing pitchers. Why spend insane money, on a maybe with a huge amount of questions marks, when you can fill multiple holes when it is time to compete? Sox also have a habit of making pitchers better. If Coop believes he can succeed with Tanaka, it's a no brainer to go for him because then Coop would look at him a second ace.
