  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 07:53 AM) This is the real world. A sick baby is way worse than a pulled hamstring. And it's something that Dunn is powerless to help. Yet, while I agree with SS2k5 on this, I had to laugh a bit. The journey to 100,000 continues with his forgetting the multi-quote function.
  2. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 07:28 AM) I don't know about training pugs as assistant dogs, but I remember seeing a girl in Bass Pro Shops that had a pug as an assist dog. Apparently it was working well for her. On a side note, pugs are great dogs. Very loyal and friendly. Pugs have two character traits: Eternally hungry and they bring joy to people.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 07:03 AM) Can I ask what drew you to this team in particular? South Side and it's Irish roots? But welcome!
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 07:01 AM) And a side note from this story, dogs are so awesome. I really hope seizure dogs can be trained. My brother wants me to take his rescued pug (he just wants his one that he loves, his wife rescued the second one to find her a home). So that way, I can just take a dog I know and love to be trained. If not, the running price for a seizure dog is a couple thousand.
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 06:08 AM) The menendez brothers? Evil actions in history??? Hitler??? Followed by Brian Anderson???? WTF It's caulfield. Expect this.
  6. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 11:29 PM) Anyone seen Breaking Bad? (Great show btw) When Jane Margolis died of OD, her father was devastated, and still went on to his job, got distracted by his thoughts, mis-directed the air traffic, ended up killing everyone on the plane. I feel that Dunn didn't handle this properly. The condition of his son is a sad story and no one deserves the fate. However the correct way to handle the situation was to let the team know about it and take as much time away as possible. He didn't just suck for a period of time, he sucked the entire season. He knows it, the team knows it. He wasn't just not helping the team, he was killing the team with his performance. He wasn't just making himself look bad, he was making his teammates look bad, he's not moving runners along, not driving them in, not giving his teammates good pitches to hit because he was historically bad. There comes a certain amount of responsibility when you are being paid $15 million for the year. I don't know how much his son's situation affected him last year, but if he felt that it was distracting him, and he was flat out killing the team, the correct way to handle it is to be upfront and take time off. I don't think anyone is comprehending that this isn't a two bereavement list trip. This could theoretically be his entire contract before his son even gets mildly better.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 10:00 PM) And I'm arguing that this is something the Dunn's have dealt with before last year. But because he was god-awful, now it's coming to our attention. It wears on you. Every day I don't have mine gone just adds to the misery. Every thing that doesn't work just adds to depression.
  8. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) What separates Sox fans from any other fanbase in sports? Why can't we boo our own when they don't perform? I just want to point out it's fine that we booed. I'm not arguing that. I'm just arguing that this is a legitimate reason for him to have sucked.
  9. QUOTE (Carter224 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:47 PM) So f***ing leave the team and help your son until you're comfortable enough to come back. Stop making excuses for him. Its a f***ing game, go watch the Oprah channel if you wanna feel sorry for people in unfortunate situations. Because epilepsy is SO DAMN predictable. It'll just be cured like magic. It can take four f***ing years to get a medication right, and that's for an adult. If those don't work, lets look forward to brain surgery. I doubt he saw it coming. And all you want to do when it happens is make life go back to normal. He probably wanted to make his son proud. Think of how his son would feel if one day his dad came home retired. "Daddy, when are we going to the stadium again?" "We aren't son, I retired to help you get better." Seriously, you feel like a f***ing burden on everyone when your epileptic. So his son will probably be even more miserable that his dad gave up his career for him. But I forgot, since it's a f***ing game, then it's ok. Because personal problems have never effected anyone's job performance. Ever. Never in their life. I'm not saying that fans shouldn't have booed. We didn't know. But at least its another reason that finally makes sense why he was so bad.
  10. I'm going to reiterate, epilepsy sucks. Like, destroys your life suck. I can't imagine how Dunn felt watching his young child go through what should be a happy part in his life where his biggest problem is a scraped knee. But he has to watch his son writhe in pain and is powerless to help him. His son probably can't do things that all kids enjoy. His kid might never be allowed to drive, he'll try to fit in but so much will be cut off to him. If it's not cured, he'll have to register with a disability office at schools, because it f***s up your ability to think. Every moment his kid is alive could be his last. He could be playing catch with his kid and watch his kid fall over lifelessly, even dead, as the ball soars over his head. And if he moves, he'll just be in uncontrollable pain. But you know what? f*** the guy for striking out. Clearly he should forget about the misery his son is going through because he's in a batters box.
  11. I'll just confirm epilepsy sucks. Basically you get treated like you're completely crippled, except, you're not. And I like Dunn more now.
  12. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:03 AM) NO I can't stand his: back back back back back back back gone, absolutely can't stand that guy, get him off of TV period. Fixed.
  13. It took me forever to get my old bike working, or I'd jump at this. Rock's lucky day?
  14. QUOTE (G&T @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 09:52 AM) Jordan Danks is currently hitting .381 with a .364 OBP. Can an OBP be lower than a BA? Sac flies.
  15. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 08:19 AM) As someone who was your age once and built a sweet dvd collection, all I can say is "don't bother" with the bluray "collection". There will be a time very soon where blurays are phased out and you'll be stuck with a bunch of crap you'd rather have not spent your money on - just watch the movie from redbox or streamed online for dirt cheap when in the need! I like physical media. Call me old-fashioned. Speaking of which...
  16. QUOTE (Felix @ Jul 9, 2012 -> 06:38 AM) Except for that time he did this: http://www.basketball-reference.com/boxsco...0801230CHI.html Felix!
  17. QUOTE (RZZZA @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 11:48 PM) Come on son...in what world is CJ going to score 30-40 points? He's been an inefficient scorer for the Bulls, he might score that many if he played starter minutes and took 25 shots per game. Denver two years ago. JL3 missed 2 free throws, Melo hits game winning three.
  18. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 06:39 PM) I looked more into it and it sounds like Disney doesn't want to re-release the Avengers. Instead all of the extras including an alternate intro and an an alternate ending will be on the DVD/Blu Ray along with 30 or so extra minutes of the movie. And this makes me giddy.
  19. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:30 PM) How so? Pleases me because MORE AVENGERS. Angers me because it means that the normal version will come out on Blu-Ray first, then the extended edition will be a while after that. So I'll have to wait longer to add Avengers to my Blu-Rays.
  20. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 8, 2012 -> 04:49 PM) When you see a whacky outspoken guy get angry like Ozzie it's pretty funny. When you see a serious laid back guy like Robin get angry, it is a lot scarier. This is my reasoning. With Ozzie, you expect it. With Robin, you know s*** just got real.
  21. I still contend Angry Robin is scarier than Angry Ozzie.
