How comfortable are you rooting for the draft pick?
Quin replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 01:22 AM) Gatewood is the name I keep paying attention to. Obviously Beede is going to be a very high pick too, but I really hope we go position player with our first 2-3 picks. We seem to be stocking pitchers. If we get a top flight RHP prospect and the organization thinks he can be developed, I'll take it. -
QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Sep 6, 2013 -> 12:02 AM) Sale is not a good example though. Very, VERY rarely are drafted player dominating pro ball a couple months later. Not many are dominating pro ball a couple YEARS later. All pointing to Sale will do is create unrealistic expectations for people to complain about when our top 5 pick next June is not in the pros within 12 months. Oh, I know. But then Beckham. It's not gonna take years and years if they draft right.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 08:49 PM) Yeah our offense is quite putrid. We stand about a 5 percent chance of beating any team in an East Division ballpark with this current lineup. But no matter who we draft, it'll take forever for that player to reach the bigs and I have no confidence our ownership will pick the right guy. I probably should stop being a Sox fan considering how little I believe in them right now. I'd spend the offseason spending some money, signing some guys with a clue at the plate, maybe sign a good set up guy and beg Dunn and Konerko and Keppinger to retire (even though I love Paulie; I'd rather have him retire than sign with another team). This team could easily be out of it by May 1 next year if like I said before Detroit goes 20-8 and we continue this suckage and go 8-20 which is entirely possible especially if Robin stays. I think it's pretty obvious he's overmatched, at least that's my opinion. Kinda funny, considering all these "draftniks" have said that the Sox aren't out next year if that's the case. Rough start, but not out. And why does everyone think the draft pick will take years? Sale anyone?

QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Sep 5, 2013 -> 07:44 PM) Huh? What's that? Bottom of the ninth, bases loaded, 2 outs, full count, down by 3 and hitting a grand slam is my guess.

Seeing Tommy Hunter reminds me how he and Chris Davis were traded for Koji Uehara. Now I'm sad that Crain was hurt.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Not really. Kotsay is another bust who I disliked greatly. I always was of the opinion KW also was in the organization. He's as much to blame as Ozzie. What was Ozzie going to quit if he didn't get his way on Kotsay? But in answer to your question. Ozzie obviously blew it there. I'm sure after a month he was as sick of Kotsay's lousy at bats as everybody else. But again, that's on Kenny as well as Ozzie. Doesn't Kenny have a say in anything? Lord.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 4, 2013 -> 10:20 PM) Just curious how early in the season in 2014 the draftniks on this board will start rooting for the Sox to lose every game. It's pretty damn annoying. So lets say we go 8-20 to open the year. Will you be rooting for all losses in May, June, July, August and September? Just curious. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:16 PM) Home schooled kids can pick whatever public school they want? That doesn't make any sense you would think they would have to go to the district they live in. That is the law, yes. But Tebow moved into an apartment in another district so he could play for a different team, so there are weak loopholes.

Tank Commanders Axelrod and Veal shall lead us into battle. So, yes, comfortable if it's on those two or other worthless players. -

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 07:48 PM) That's neat your brother also loves Ozzie. Does he swear as much as Oz? I just can't see another team ever hiring Ozzie as manager because of the P.R. hit the team would take. In this day and age you can't hire a guy who can be googled like Ozzie can be googled (comments on Castro, gays, drinking a six pack after every game, etc). Only Jerry can rescue him as Jerry is his father figure. Yes, and this is probably why I find Ozzie irritating at times but can feel for him as well. But trust me, having a Ozzie like personality around DRAINS you.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 08:07 PM) From what Hawk was saying earlier, it looks like Konerko,Dunn, Alexei, De Aza are all in their final month as White Sox. He said Beckham was the most accomplished hitter returning next year. And I'm ok with that as long as we get good returns on Alexei and De Aza. I really hope Paulie retires though. Want to see him hang it up in a White Sox uniform.

Seeing EJ against this lineup will be interesting.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) I dont like the guy but not sure how thats being entitled. The guy wanted something and went out and got it, and proved he was one of the best HS and college QB's ever. There are alot worse people out there wearing NFL uni's than Tim Tebow. Oh, I know there are worse people playing in the NFL than Tebow. I just hate the fact that home schooled kids can pick and choose public school teams to play on. I've always been of the opinion that home schooled kids should not be allowed to play on public high school teams. And his refusal to play anything but QB in the NFL has doomed his pro-career.
-
QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 3, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) I bet he doesn't drink as much now that he's unemployed. Obviously I have no proof. I wonder if I'm the biggest Ozzie fan on the planet. That's food for thought. I could be No. 1 Ozzie backer, though I'm sure there are others running around the South Side. Unless you're my brother, you're not. He's my brother's childhood idol and they have almost the exact same personality.
-
The reasons I feel Tebow is entitled 1) Home schooled but played HS football, which I hate in principle. But he refused to play anything but QB so he left his first team. He acts like it's his god given right to QB. 2) the "thanks for that" commercial

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 02:12 PM) Daniel Bard was designated for assignment by the Red Sox. I would hope the Sox pick him up. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 11:53 PM) Coop can fix him. Wasn't he supposed to be the next big time closer? What happened? And yeah, I'd take a flier.
-
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 09:24 PM) I only took issue, as everyone else, with the fact that you instigated an argument with him to turn around and bash him for arguing with you. Not many people here take issue, or even disagree with the assessment that CH is pretty immature. If I were you I'd stop trying to defend your behaviors and let it go. +1

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Aug 31, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) I have nothing against people who are religious but this is the type of crap that makes one hate Tebow. What a joke. Exactly. Griffin is religious, also an ESPN star and former Heisman winner. The difference is Griffin isn't a douchebag and doesn't act entitled.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 1, 2013 -> 12:02 AM) Bear with me here. I like the fact Obama is going to ask Congress about this issue, but on the other hand I don't like what I heard on the radio today from his mouth. Yes, he seemed like a "weak" leader to me. If Obama wants to f***ing send bombers to send a message, then stick to your guns, Obama and be mean and forceful with your quotes/comments. What I heard today was a guy kind of put it on Congress to decide. He was all calm and meek-sounding if that's the word. I think Obama knows damn well Congress will NEVER vote to bomb Syria. There's no way that many men and women will vote for an aggressive act. No fricking way. By putting it on them he's washed his hands of the matter, so to speak. Now if he was a passionate leader ... maybe they'd take his lead and do it. If he was a passionate leader, maybe he could get something passed once in a while. They will not vote for bombings IMO. No way. I don't like Obama's overall body of work and you know what, if he could run again he'd win again. And again and again. This country is the greatest in the world, but baffles me big time at times. The picture of that little kid dying looking at the blood on his hands is the saddest picture of all time. It is a sign of what may be in store for us all in the future. More senseless killings and someday chemical weapons really really really being a problem all around the world. TODAY'S CW: Weak President playing politics, making US look weak to world.
