Phil Rogers throws KW under the bus
Seriously though, the more active SoxTalk posters likely know more about the minor league system than Rogers.

2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 03:19 AM) I'm the best thing to ever happened to this thread. Without me, this thread is a bunch of middle-aged homers crying about referees every single day of the year. Not even close. Putting your hands on the most physically gifted player the game has ever seen wouldn't mean a thing. He'd even be better against inferior, one dimensional athletes, and no zone defense. C'mon, q. You weren't even a fetus when most of these guys were playing. Other than Jordan, LeBron trumps every player here without question. Mark Price? C'mon, dude. People like to make fun of Nash and his d. Who's Price checking today? lol. I will respond to Zoom and Booqua (amazing that he actually came with something besides piggybacking zoom) in detail later when I'm sober. I just posted NBA.com's All 90's team. And I dunno if LeBron trumps Hakeem. And there would be years where Pippen, Hill, Barkley or Malone could be better at forward. Thing is we don't know. But a lot of those guys would be the undisputed #2 in today's NBA, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that LeBron wouldn't easily be the second best player. For fun, let's replace Larry Johnson with LeBron on those Hornets teams. Taken at the same time. Is LeBron winning any titles?

Phil Rogers throws KW under the bus
People really need to learn that Rogers may be the dumbest person associated with baseball. I remember him saying the Sox were fools for not throwing something stupid like $20M/yr at Daisuke.

2012-2013 NBA thread
The 90's Stars: PG: Payton, Stockton, Hardaway, Johnson, Price SG: Jordan, Drexler, Dumars, Richmond, Miller SF: Pippin, Hill, Wilkins, Mullin, Schrempf PF: Malone, Barkley, Rodman, Kemp, Grant C: Olajuwon, Ewing, Mourning, Shaq, Robinson To say that LeBron would be a third team All-NBA with Pippin, Hill, Malone, and Barkley is not THAT outrageous.

Daniel Hudson re-tears elbow UCL
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 03:03 AM) It's a bit ironic the last couple of seasons that Herm Schneider has become renowned for keeping players healthy. If you look at that 1998-2002 group, almost all of them were wiped out. Jason Stumm, Lorenzo Barcelo, Jon Rauch (was never the same after the labrum injury), Jim Parque, Mike Sirotka, Rob Purvis, Corwin Malone, Rocky Biddle (he went on to become a decent reliever with the Expos), Kris Honel, Danny Wright, James Baldwin and Matt Ginter. The only ones who became "successful" were the least highly touted of the group....Buehrle, Josh Fogg and Chad Bradford. Then there was Kip Wells, Garland and Matt Guerrier. (Of course, Garland wasn't our draft pick, he was the Cubs'). Then, of some of our recent pitchers, Hudson and Brandon McCarthy have had horrible luck with injuries, Clayton Richard some problems as well...Sergio Santos, it has almost been like a curse when we try to draft and develop our own pitchers. How is that ironic?

QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 03:57 PM) I think they will probably come out with a $300 Last of Us bundle. They have an Uncharted 3 bundle for that price. You can probably get the Uncharted trilogy for $60 or $70 right now and Journey is worth playing for $10. For anyone that doesn't have a Blu Ray player, those games at that price would be worth it IMO. True. Lately it seems that Sony just keeps churning out great exclusive after great exclusive. Really need to buy thatgamecompany though. Should have done it after flOwer

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 03:26 PM) I still don't think anyone can hang with Jordan, in their primes, one on one. An incredibly talented and versatile scorer who also played incredible defense? No chance anybody beats him. The only guy who might is Magic. Thing with Jordan is not only is he the greatest scorer of all time, but also the best defensive SG of all time. Elite level of play on both sides of the ball. The only other players who could claim best defender at their positions and also elite scorers are Duncan and Olajuwon. That has to count for something. Also, as long as we're throwing out all-time starting five...here's mine based on fit. PG: Magic SG: Jordan SF: Bird PF: Duncan C : Olajuwon And anyone that suggests LeBron, Bird is a waaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better fit for such a team.- ARod suspended for entire 2014 season
How to punish teams with roiders: 1) Add a tax to contracts of players caught ONCE THEY SIGN A NEW DEAL. So with something like a 50% tax, let's say Gio gets a $20M contract. Whoever gives it to him has to now give $10M to MLB charities. It'll discourage signing roiders. 2) Each player caught roiding with a team causes that team to lose a draft pick.- 2012-2013 NBA thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 12:03 AM) I don't really care about rebounds. A 6'8 260 pound F is supposed to be a better rebounder than a 6'6 215 pound SG. But LeBron is no doubt a better passer and has better court awareness than MJ. Jordan: Wait for the double team, find the open man. LeBron can do that and run an offense. For sure he's a better passer. Court awareness, that I'm not so sure of. But using assists to compare a guy that plays point on offense to a guy that played off-ball to the LeBron prototype.- 2012-2013 NBA thread
ESPN: LeBron is easily close enough to overtake Jordan for GOAT. Also, I hate when they use assists and rebounds as an argument against Jordan. So a guard who played off-ball until it was clutch time has less rebounds and assists than a forward who plays the point? No s***? The one season Jordan played point he averaged 32.5/8/8. That's better than BronBron. - Gordon Beckham: Player of the Decade and future HOFer
