  1. After the embarrassing debacle last offseason by Reinsdorf and his FO, coupled with Reinsdorf’s well-understood spending habits over his 39 years in charge, there is PLENTY OF DOUBT as to whether the organization will spend “big time FA $$” to augment the “cost controlled assets” on this roster. The well-earned fear by many thoughtful posters here is that they’ll once again take a pass on competing for the elite talent available on the open market and instead try and get cute again by surrounding the young core with the next wave of available second and third tier type talents like the Melky Cabrera’s, Adam LaRoche’s, Jimmy Rollins’, Austin Jackson’s, Ivan Nova’s, and Jon Jay’s of the world. Fingers crossed that doesn’t happen all over again.
  2. Anderson and Yoan 4th and 5th now, respectfully, in batting average in the AL.
  3. I hear you. Still, the notion of three guys in the lineup (Robert, Moncada, & Anderson) each with 25+ homers and 25+ stolen bases is rather captivating!
  4. Some of us who are old enough to remember the event enjoy the once-a-year recollection of that very unique night at Comiskey Park. Seeing images of the old park itself, references to historical Chicago icons such as Bill Veeck, Harry Caray, Jimmy Piersall, Steve Dahl, etc., inspire a certain pleasant nostalgia for many of us. I could see being annoyed if it were a topic discussed non-stop, year round, but just for a few days on an annual basis, it’s not too bad.
  5. He certainly is, and that speed has translated into a lot of stolen bases this season. I just wonder, though, if the stolen base aspect of his game will continue at the Major League level, or whether that will taper off similar to how it has with Moncada.
  6. His defense has also been receiving some very positive acclaim. He is literally the whole package, this guy!
  7. Don’t you just love it when our resident “Angry Bird” weighs in!
  8. Not that it matters, but the election for mayor that year had been held in April, a few months before Disco Demolition. So not sure what Veeck was talking about when he suggested Byrne took advantage of the situation for election purposes.
  9. Cool to see two White Sox standing on the mound in the All Star game during that Sabathia visit.
  10. 0-5 combined performance tonight by the three Cubs’ representatives, who are each out of the game now.
  11. So busy yapping with these mic’d up guys Buck nearly forgot to mention McCann entering the game.
  12. Good showing for first appearance by a White Sox “rebuild” player!
  13. Ah, AustinIllini, bashing another poster. How original.
  14. Of course, then, there’s the obvious irony in that either Yoan4Moan or Lip’s worst posts are still infinitely more insightful, interesting, and far better thought out than any of what would be considered your best posts. Go figure.
  15. Our entire infield, 2/3 of the outfield, and 3/5 of the starting rotation will feature genuine, elite talent once they’re all up here and running. The ‘20s really could be the Renaissance of White Sox baseball!
  16. Lol - except for that minor issue of both Houston and the Cubs undergoing new ownership and new front offices who spearheaded those organizations’ rebuilds vs. the loser former owners/FOs who caused the need for their rebuilds in the first place, you just can’t tell the difference between our rebuild and theirs!
  17. I’m actually not arguing against you. On the contrary, I’m enjoying your argument and trying to understand your thinking on the matter. My initial instinct is to not rush a prospect if you don’t have to. Not saying that’s necessarily a one-size-fits-all approach for every prospect. I guess I’m content here on July 1 employing the same approach the team used with Jimenez. Flip side? I am dying to see this kid playing at 35th & Shields!
  18. So simply put, you’d rather see him play the final three months of this season on this non-playoff caliber team, rather than potentially a full season in 2026 during his prime on a team in a championship window. It’s certainly a point of view and an interesting opinion on the matter, but I’m sure you can see why some others might not share that view.
  19. So nothing for a White Sox fan to get excited about, since it seems like the team is not in play for any of the top rated players this go-around?
  20. Wrong. In case it wasn’t obvious to you after last offseason’s debacle, we are not on Houston or any other team’s model. We operate on Jerry Reinsdorf’s model and his model alone. Have for 39 years now, and will continue to do so until the team is (finally!) sold.
  21. No one is “living in the past” when discussing the Tatis Jr. trade. It only happened three short years ago, and was conducted by the very front office still in charge of things today. It’s still very much a relevant topic, particularly given Tatis Jr.’s early success at the big league level. How about less on poster attacking and more on actual useful contribution to matters involving the White Sox coming out of your corner.
  22. “Winning seasons” - PHOOEY! This is the 60th season since the Sox went to the World Series in ‘59, and the team has been to the postseason just five times since 1959, and not once in over a decade now. Meanwhile, this year, our neighbors on the north side will likely make their fifth straight playoff appearance in a row since 2015. And who says we don’t desperately need a new owner and entirely different front office!
