  1. A hitter will hit. Steriods just add more to it. Would Manny have 550+ homers for his career without steriods? No. But he would definitely have over 400.
  2. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:51 AM) wow Ken_Rosenthal Source: #WhiteSox wanted #Dodgers to pay all but 1M of approximately 6.7M left on Manny's 2010 contract with no player coming back. Hopefully that was their first offer, becuase then it makes sense why they declined. Damnit Sox, just pay the rest of the salary. Haha, I wonder if we could have just kept Hudson and absorbed Manny's contract. Weren't the Sox willing to sign Damon to a 6M contract?
  3. QUOTE (BFirebird @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:44 AM) And Hudson would probably get killed in the AL East. I guess my opinion of Hudson is just more than outsiders... the only KNACK I have on Hudson is that his arm slot is high maintenance. His ball can flatten out if he isn't hitting his ideal spot. I honestly felt Hudson was our best realized starting pitching prospect since Garland (not to be confused with a "potential" prospect... i hate that term. I always think either you have it or you don't). Wow I am negative today. Sorry guys. It really just comes down to that I wanted an impact hitter AND still have 5 MLB starters on the team.
  4. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:38 AM) WOw, for 2 reasons: 1) that would hve been a world shocker that Cowley was talking about. This also shows KW is looking for an IMPACT bat; whether it is lefty or righty.2) why in the HELL would the dodgers say no, I don't know the package of prospects but they are beyond broke and it would have been a perfect chance to get out under mannys contract. Finally, this shows we are going for it and money is not a worry. Rosenthal on MLB network, we may see a manny deal in august. Says he will clear waivers and dodgers want to see what he has when he gets back from the DL. I agree... why would the Dodgers say no if all that is in the press is 100% true (financial troubles and all). They aren't over taking the Padres or Giants this year.
  5. QUOTE (hi8is @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:40 AM) We will get another bat to replace Kotsay / Jones. Normally, I'm a pretty optimistic guy. I just don't feel it today...
  6. Can someone tell me what the Orioles are trying to do as an organization? They suck year in and year out. Hudson on their team would be their #2 starter IMO. We should have been able to get a deal with them for Scott or Markakis.
  7. QUOTE (spiderman @ Jul 31, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) jonmorosi #WhiteSox asked the #Dodgers about Manny -- and were rejected, sources tell FOXSports.com and there it was... the mystery bat I doubt we get an IMPACT hitter today
  8. Ok, I'm as excited as anyone about Dayan. However, please people. Calm down on the over reaction. In my opinion, he is a better offensive Juan Uribe with less defense. If the Brewers called the Sox today and said we'll trade you Fielder for Dayan and two other of our top prospects, you do the deal in a heartbeat.
  9. Furthermore, even if the Sox had acquired Jackson to use him for a Dunn deal, that makes no sense for the Sox. That leaves us with a severe lack of pitching depth. Don't give me that bs argument that we can skip the 5th spot much of the rest of the season. The problem is two fold. First, our good starters could use an extra day off to stay well rested. Second, and more importantly, if for some horrible reason we had another pitching injury then you can toss out all odds of making the playoffs. Our 4th starter would be Carlos Torres in that scenario. Yikes. I just don't get this deal. Aside from the points i just mentioned why it would be asinine to move Jackson for Dunn, say the Sox ended up doing that. Hudson, Holmberg, and a prospect for Dunn is not a good deal in my opinion. Doesn't Dunn (as of right now) equate to just under a type A free agent. I think his currently ranking is a high type b.
  10. I don't understand this trade. Edwin Jackson has ALWAYS been severely overrated in my opinion. I would take Daniel Hudson at this point in this career with his low contract 10 times out of 10. Why are we going to pay Edwin Jackson 8M in 2011 when we could have paid Hudson something like $600K. We could have used the 7M difference on other players where we have a need (such as 3B, DH, or 1B if PK leaves). Horrible.
  11. Can we keep Arizona in the mix for a three team deal, but instead have them send Edwin Jackson to Milw so we can get Fielder. I think I'm the only Sox fan that doesn't want the big donkey. Obviously he is an upgrade over what we currently have; I would just rather have Prince over him.
  12. You trade viciedo if you are getting something special in return, such as Prince Fielder
  13. Also found this AOL Fanhouse report http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2010/07/09/brewers...-weeks-on-table We really need to try to get Fielder. He would fit perfectly at US Cellular. Also, we could still keep PK next year if PK is willing to take an under market contract. I'm thinking 3yrs $21M for PK.
  14. Onley is saying the Brewers are exploring trade talks for Fielder and Hart. https://twitter.com/Buster_ESPN/status/18232727795 KW needs to get this guy. I really hope KW can put together a trade package centered around Viciedo and Flowers. I would include Mitchell and maybe some pitching (not named Santos or Hudson) to get Fielder. I'm sure the Brewers will ask for Hudson, Beckham, and/or Santos. I'd prefer not to trade any of those players, but if push came to shove I'd be willing to part with Santos. Viciedo, Flowers, and Santos for Fielder.
  15. Why am I the only Sox fan that wants absolutely no part of Adam Dunn. I feel like it's an insult to our fan base trading for him when we could have signed Thome this offseason. My wish list is Prince Fielder or Adrian Gonzalez... I know that is unrealistic, but I'm thinking long term contending
  16. Because Chris Sale won't be ready until about August.
  17. Let's assume the Sox continue to climb back into respectability (and contention)...... Would Prince Fielder look good on the Sox? If so, what would it realistically take to acquire Prince? Although he could command a hefty salary on an open market, I feel like the 1B market is limited to only a few teams. IMO, he'd definitely cost 3 prospects (2 of which would be a higher tier).
  18. I cannot envision AJ getting traded tonight. Flowers is just not good enough. I think the Sox should trade Flowers before it's too late. By the way, this is coming from an huge Flowers fan since we acquired him.
  19. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2010/06/card...g-pitching.html Cardinals looking for pitching. Would they be interested in Mark Buehrle? Do the Cards have any good prospects they'd part with?
  20. Please explain to me why some of you want to keep Alexei. I cannot stand him, his style of play, and what he "brings" to the Sox. If I was the GM, I'd be looking for upgrades at the SS position while unloading some of the vets. I wouldn't be as frustrated with AR if he was playing 2B, but that is supposedly going to be Gordon Beckham's position for his entire career with the Sox.
  21. QUOTE (DBAHO @ May 19, 2010 -> 12:48 AM) With what is happening in Florida with Fredi Gonzalez and Hanley Ramirez, I wonder if Ozzie is going to be their manager in 2011. Think it would be the best fit for him in terms of his manging style being more suited to the NL obviously. I would love the White Sox to go get Hanley Ramirez. Probably no way we could acquire him due to not having enough pieces they'd want. Edit: Here is his current contract # 6 years/$70M (2009-14) * signed extension with Florida 5/17/08 * 09:$5.5M, 10:$7M, 11:$11M, 12:$15M, 13:$15.5M, 14:$16M I wonder if the Marlins can afford it in the later years. Weren't they trying to get a new baseball stadium?
  22. I don't have a link, but I was listening to ESPN radio around 5:15 PM today, and Bruce Levine said that the Sox are actively seeking a hitter. He said a source told him they have been looking into Lance Berkman. What do you all think about Berkman? He has been declining in recent years. His contract is $14.5M this year, with a club option at 15M next or $2M buyout. I can only think of the Sox acquiring him if they are trading salary or getting cash back from Houston. No way they are absorbing all that money for this year. Also, Buster Onley tweeted this:
  23. I'm not seeing a lot of trade proposals in this thread... let's at least try to have some fun with this Here is my proposal: Jenks, Viciedo, and Torres
  24. Well I was a huge fan of the De Aza pickup. I didn't imply he would be any of the main pieces of any Agon trade. I was thinking could his skill set be something they'd like as the 4th or 5th player in a deal.
  25. Would De Aza be a good trade piece to add to any AGon deal?
