  1. They have developed a few good rotational players under new management, but the guy who led them to the playoffs last year now plays for another team. I wouldn't say winning culture is what attracted Kyrie and KD to them. Had Lakers not traded for AD, I think you'd have a chance of seeing these two playing for the other LA team.
  2. Except the Nets were ran pretty badly. They lucked into KD and Kyrie because they wanted to play together and Kyrie prefers the city of NY. They have also made some pretty bad trades and traded away a bunch of draft picks not too long ago. Their core of Allen/Lavert/Harris/Dwinddle pales in comparison to Bulls young core. KD and Kyrie didn't pick Brooklyn because they made playoffs once in the last 4 years.
  3. Have a couple of guys down in DSL that are intriguing too part of the recent class. They make for interesting follows for sure, but it would be at least a couple of years until we find out if they're legit prospects.
  4. Not sure if posted, looks like Burger is out for season.
  5. That AZL team is hella interesting to follow, and should be even more so when Thompson and Dalquist steps onto the mound. Though I presume is Vaughn is on his way to Great Falls right now.
  6. Add Bryan Ramos to the list of names to pay attention to.
  7. Yes, he's mentally screwed, and probably the most depressing situation of all of them right now.
  8. Hamilton, Burr, Lambert, Burdi injuries all announced the same day. What the fucking hell? We could fill a pretty good rotation and bullpen along with Kopech, Dunning, and Hansen.
  9. Yea, crazy good job negotiation by Mets if he started at $4M. You can’t convince me Thompson is worth only $400k less than Allan, another example of Sox being bad at negotiations.
  10. If a scout has strong gut feel for a guy who hasn't been drafted by 30 teams after 35 rounds, good for them. Even so, if they have that compelling of a case to go after the player we could have drafted that player earlier or sign them as UDFA.
  11. I think we'd have ~$1.4M play with if Dalquist does not sign. For the reason you mentioned these 3 aren't highly ranked, I think that amount plus their respective $125K standard bonus could get it done. I get they're not nationally ranked, but part of the appeal of getting a high schooler is to hope that they break out once they hit pro ball and become legit prospects. Side note, I thought Glass was a done deal at ~$200K, though I'd be surprised that's all it takes, since he's an intriguing prospect.
  12. Yep, if Dalquist doesn't sign, I think we could use the savings from other picks and sign all three of Britt, Trenkle and Krogman and still get the 3rd back next year. But Dalquist is signing for sure, no need to freak out.
  13. One thing Sox has not been doing a good job of is the negotiation process. There are a number of 2nd rounders in recent years they went overslot when industry didn’t expect them to. They also like to convince themselves the guy they got in the second round has first round talent and didn’t mind give late first round bonus for them. With the Thompson signing, I think the shop has sailed on Krogman and Trenkle at this point, unless Vaughn is an unexpected underslot signing.
  14. Checking on other signings on the tracker, what does green vs. red suggest? I thought slot for beyond 10th round is 125k. Did I read that everyone from 23rd round onward only received $2,500 bonus? We typically don’t hear bonuses if it’s under 125k, but that’s crazy if true.
  15. Oh and winning the Zion lottery with the 9th worst record is pretty nice too
  16. I envy the Pels. They turned Anthony Davis into Ball, Ingram, Hart, Hayes, NAW, plus potentially 3 first round picks, 2 first round swaps, 35th pick coming up, and shredded Hill’s $14m contract in the process.
  17. How much are we under slot right now when including the extra $500K for 5% overage? I would imagine Vaughn and Thompson signs for slot and Dalquist gets the $2M. Would be nice if we could nab a Krogman or Trenkle as well. Trenkle seems like a long shot but Krogman seems signable based on previous reports.
  18. Fact: In the 1980s players had to leave games early to take a shit all the time. It’s just Twitter wasn’t around to run a story on it.
  19. I think at this point they pretty much phone in random draft IDs and hope it's linked to an actual player.
  20. Sure, I’m sure people who preferred Vaughn wouldn’t mind passing on him if that player existed. However the 2 guys who fit the bill were taken 1 and 2. There is literally no one else who has the ceiling that worth passing on the hitting ability of Vaughn. If you don’t find the right guy, no need to get cute and fancy there.
  21. I think his hit tool carries, he’ll be a MLB hitter at the very least, serviceable 1B or DH is his likely floor. Guys like Abrams or Bedlay may have higher upside but absolutely bigger question marks. I just didn’t agree with your Vaughn being the most risky top 10 pick comment.
  22. Yea bro your argument is completely falling apart here. You want a guy who, unlike Vaughn, has a high floor and offers more value than just hit/power, Madrigal is exactly that. Or if you want a guy, who unlike Madrigal, who could hit and hit right away and Vaughn will be that. You can’t argue both ways however. And you can keep talking up Bedlay, but no way I’m taking him over Vaughn with the swing and miss issue. He has a plus arm but isn’t a plus defender. That plus arm in RF isn’t enough for me to pass on Vaughn’s pure hitting ability. He’s more of a Jared Mitchell comp risk-wise than Vaughn.
  23. Also it’s super ironic Jack Parkman is preaching tools over production here yet he trashes Madrigal on the daily because he’s only hitting .270 with little power. I guess you gotta have your cake and eat it too huh.
  24. Except Vaughn to Bedlay comparison is very different than Mitchell to Trout.
