I was kind of expecting Delgado to be an under slot signing since he was an under the radar pick. With that said, I think we can now rule out possibility of HS signings in the latter rounds.

Only thing I can find on this kid was actually on Soxtalk posted by GenericUserName, that he was signed last Feb, and wasn't even a $300K signing. But it's also interesting that the team has batted him 3rd since day one, despite the fact that he's barely 17, which shows that the organization is pretty high on him. He's struck out on the first AB of the season, and struck out for the 2nd time today. That's 42 PA's without a strikeout, pretty impressive even for DSL.

I wonder if there are more interesting guys throughout the system than usual has led to us picking this many HS kids vs org filling college guys. The other explanation is we're trying to establish relationship and get them acquainted with our organization to help with future negotiations. But I honestly haven't seen that leading to anything in the past.

I wanted to say Kyrie has gotten better after playing with Lebron, but I took a deeper look at the stats and that wasn't really the case. He was basically the same player the first 3 years with Lebron as he was before Lebron. Then he exploded last year, but he was able to maintain that level of play and even increased his efficiency this year in Boston. So I guess I haven't found a good example to dispute this.

I would think HS players with good hit tool and + on other tools would go early in the draft, and HS players with good hit tool but average on other tools will not be as projectable. So at this point you would hope to have players who are + on other tools and develop their hit tool.

Did you read my original post? I said he needed more reps and seasoning after taking time off from defection and injuries, so the initial struggles stateside is expected. Chill the fuck out.

He was 2-3 years older than some of the players over there while is the best prospect in that league. I dont remember his stat line but he definitely swung and missed more than he should in normal circumstances.

He didn't exactly set the world on fire in DSL last year against inferior competition. I think he will need a lot more seasoning given how much development time he has lost.

So we drafted a Keenyn Walker type player with a 7th round pick. That’s signs of having a good draft.

I highly doubt that's a slot pick it's either a) the first 3 picks will command some over slot b) we are setting for a over slot pick later on. I am guessing it's A.
