  1. Rooting for Rockies to come out on top today, and let the evil franchises fight for the last spot tomorrow.
  2. It’s wasn’t all pretty, but we are only a Kyle Fuller dropped catch away from 4-0. Think about that for a second.
  3. Rays bullpen are a bunch of journeymen or inexperienced arms. Teams has since followed suit do not have a dominant bullpen by any means. I think it’s a matter of mixing things up and keeping hitters off balance.
  4. It doesn't make sense to me to pay 1/$7M for Shields or someone like him when you could potentially get similar or better production through deploy a strategy that a few teams had success with already. That $7M could be allocated elsewhere.
  5. Do we really need 5 “inning eaters” in 2019? Spend the money to get a quality #2 starter. Roll with Rodon, FA, Lopez, Gio, then an opener for 5th spot, use Covey, Stephens, Adams, or Guerrero as the primary pitcher. We could work this strategy until Cease is ready then we could reevaluate.
  6. He left out a .415 BABIP. In the long run the BA will come down, but I hope the OBP and SLG stays or even goes up.
  7. D Line has played well again, but I am not too impressed with the secondaries.
  8. No one gets all strike 3's called correctly, so the hypothetical slash line is a fallacy. It's also common for umps to miss strike 3's that should have been called. I bet if you run the numbers, Moncada would be near the top as well for strikeout looking on pitches in the zone. He just doesn't swing on 2 strikes, and it's been said many time already that he needs to learn to protect on 2 strikes and should not leave anything close to the zone to the umpires discretion. Just like the NBA, umpires in MLB will give benefit of the doubt to stars like Harper, Trout, or Votto, Moncada isn't there yet. He needs to learn to be a smarter hitter.
  9. Relax folks. This loss is a slap in the face but one thing I know for certain is Trubisky isn’t this bad. Even when he debuted last year he wouldn’t be missing throws by as much as he did tonight. I think he’s out of practice from sitting too much in the preseason, still learning Nagy’s offense, and just crumbled under pressure when Rodgers turned up the heat. However, if Trubisky doesn’t start showing some progress by end of the year, we need to start looking elsewhere (here’s where losing the picks hurt). I know Mitch is raw, but you should be able to tell what you have in your hands by end of year 2.
  10. The Smith sack then Mack pick 6 was probably the best defensive sequence I’ve seen as a Bears fan.
  11. A's have overachieved. It is this teams having seasons like this that gives you hope that if Sox add a couple of pieces and the young players take a step forward (much like Chapman from 2017 -18) that you could get back into the race.
  12. I couldn’t help but think if this guy burns his coffee in the morning he will basically considered his whole day fucked.
  13. Basabe is a prospect by any definition (close to top 100 in several lists). Just stop already.
  14. SHUT THE FUCK UP DUDE. Your posts are garbage. UCL tears do not happen in one game. Coop did not cause an UCL tear on him by pitching him 14 innings. But let’s pretend Coop didn’t do his job because Hansen and Dunning is also hurt in the minors right? Let’s also ignore the fact that everyone was down on Rodon this time last year but he has recovered better than any of us cuz of thought. Typical garbage posts pretending sky is falling in time of adversity trying to find someone to blame. REAL MATURE.
  15. You said bears aren’t picking in the top 15 anymore but will pick in the bottom third which simply isn’t true. With how good NFC is and how raw Trub was last year, I think we’re likely to finish in 7-12 again than 20-30. I think Bears made this move also thinking they are ready to be good, which I don’t think it’s true. This is a lot of value we’re giving up and I could only hope it pays off. It’s also worth noting Mack wasn’t as good last year compared to his first 2 years. You just hope it’s because the Raiders poor performance as a team, not that teams have figured him out.
  16. That depends on their offense and there are still a lot of question marks around it. Trading 2 first rounders makes this a win-now move, ideally you would have like to see it after you know what you got in your franchise QB. If Trubisky flops and Robinson isn't his former self, you are left with a good defense but a bad offense and a team that isn't going anywhere.
  17. Except our picks are likely higher picks and we have to pay the guy close $150M. So the question becomes if Mack is worth $150M + 2 firsts? He’s great but I am not sure about that.
  18. Between last year and this, we have seen that Giolito is a second half pitcher
  19. If Carter starts, then you have Lopez, Portis, Holiday, Valentine coming off the bench, these guys have started a bunch of games last year, they will do fine coming off the bench. Hutchison and Blakeney are young, but they also have some potential. Outside of top 3, plus maybe Pacers, I dont see a team with definitely better bench in the East.
  20. I think they haven't been paying close attention. We may not have a clear star or #1, but outside of of the top 3 in the East, this team is as deep as any, that usually gives them a good chance to make the playoffs, even if say Jabari or Lavine misses time.
  21. It does not in absolute terms, but baseball analysis is about looking at past trends and trying to project the future. Neither Hallady or Lee had nearly the control issues Hansen is having.
  22. Has anyone who were as good as Hansen, became just as bad as currently, and bounce back to become good again? It’s pretty bizarre what’s happening to him right now.
  23. The bigger thing that jumped out at me is he said when healthy Dunning’s stuff is almost as good as Kopech and Cease, which is saying A LOT. Not sure how much stock to put in it though.
  24. Very rarely does someone go from middle infielder to DH. His 5 games at CF all came in the past 6-7 games FWIW. So I think it’s likely they were keeping him fresh or he was nursing some sort of injury until recently.
