  1. that's funny. My favorite is #2.
  2. Also... wasn't Clinton the first President to be elected without a majority of the popular vote? (Not receiving 50%)
  3. maybe someone here can explain to me why some, not all, Republicans hate Bill Clinton with a passion? It seems that the hatred started well before Monica, so what gives? I was probably too young to catch it at the time. Even last nite, I saw Dick Morris and Sean Hannity (first question is why would I ever degrate myself to watching Fox News) tearing the guy up. He hasn't been President for nearly 4 years, the guy just came off of serious surgery... and they are still beating up on the guy. How long will this last?
  4. in their reports from the campaign trail yesterday, Cathy Crowly (spelling?) reports that Bill Clinton's approval numbers are currently higher than both John Kerry or George Bush!!!
  5. they frequently give out purple hears, silver stars, bronze stars to those unhonorable soldiers don't they? The most frustrating thing about this whole election is that the Bush Administration is basing it's whole campaign on Kerry. Not once have I heard George Bush say what he's actually done over the past 4 years. Just stand up, be proud of your accomplishments, and stop taking cheap shots at your opponents military record from 25+ years ago... especially since you didn't serve! It's the same crap they pulled on McCain in the 2000 primaries and Sen Max Cleland in the 2002 race. Give credit where credit is due though... the Bush campaign has some smart people running it and they did a good job of changing this race from a referendum on George Bush to a referendum on John Kerry.
  6. didn't Homer live with those 2 gay guys during his fight with Marge?
  7. my favorite part in Bowling is when he went to the bank that was giving out shotguns to people who open up a checking account... Moore quickly asks... "do you think it's a good idea to be giving out guns to people at a bank?" Love it.
  8. its funny how everyone wants to demonize this guy.. if you saw any of his movies prior to Fahrenheit 911 you would have said that he's a good film producer and documentarian. People act like he's a spokesman for the Democratic party. He's not.. just like Ann Coulter isn't a spokeswomen for the Republican party.
  9. hey nuke cleveland... thank god for France delivering those additional flu shots right?
  10. U.S. markets have had the best returns during the administrations of Presidents from which political party? How respondents have answered: 38396 votes to date Republican 31% 12045 votes Democrat 68% 26351 votes The correct answer is: Democrats [Get it right? Or wrong? Save your score ] -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Even though the Republicans are typically the party associated with big business, it turns out that the market returns generated under Democratic administrations have outperformed those of Republican administrations. UCLA Anderson School of Management finance professors, Pedro Santa-Clara and Rossen Valkanov, looked at market returns from 1927 to 1988 spanning 18 presidential elections, 10 Democratic administrations and 8 Republican administrations.1 When the researchers looked at the average excess return of the value-weighted CRSP index over the 3 month Treasury bill rate they found that Republican administrations had an excess return of approximately 2% while Democratic administrations had an excess return of approximately 11%. Santa-Clara and Valkanov determined that the wide variation in excess market returns was due to higher real market returns under Democrats as well as to real interest rates being almost 4% lower when Democrats were in the White House. The exact reasons as to why Democratic administrations seem to enjoy better market returns than Republicans are not directly addressed by the paper although the authors do caution that, "given the limitations of the data, we can never be absolutely sure that the impact of political cycles on the stock market is not just a statistical fluke." Ultimately, these findings should not necessarily change the way you manage your investment portfolio, as this presidential partisan effect might never be proven real. However, keep in mind that elections can drive changes in tax rates and public policy, which directly affect your investments and personal finances.

    Shaune Bagwell

i'm not sure how many people listen to Howard Stern here.. but he had Jeff Bagwell's ex-wife on the radio this morning. I decided to check it out myself. www.shaunebagwell.com Check out Gallery #8 May be nice competition for Anna Benson. (Kris Benson's wife) After breaking up with Jeff, she ended up getting pregnant by an ex-NBA'er but wouldn't say who. She actually sounded like a nice person, not a gold digger or anything. She got a small settlement from Jeff and isnt asking for child support from the NBA guy.
  12. I also heard this morning on CNN that in the history of the Chicago Tribune, the newspaper has never endorsed a Democrat for President. It's the Republican each and every time. Wonder if they will be endorsing that nut-job Alan Keyes?
  13. by the way, I believe the Daily Herald the suburban Chicago Newspaper has endorsed Kerry as well.
  14. By the way to whomever started this thread... Bush's 4 pt lead is gone. Today's Zogby polls show a tie.
  15. but couldn't you just file as married filing separately to avoid this?
  16. Good point. If they want to air an anti-Kerry documentary then they should be required to either air an anti-Bush documentary or pro-Kerry documentary. It's kind of like equal time for radio and tv advertising.
  17. can someone explain this to me. what is the marriage penalty for taxes and how does it penalize people?
  18. or she could have just gone to a boneyard in Arizona and broken a piece off?

    Thoughts???

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor..._on_the_sabbath why do people have to ruin fun everywhere? At a school near my house administration didnt allow them have a halloween party or dress up for school because of the bible beaters complaining. So the teachers boycotted and had a "bats and spiders" party instead. Why can't people just relax and have some fun?
  20. yeah there's no way Fox News is in the center. Their internal production staff and management frequently tell its staff to go pro-Bush on the issues. And on the flip side, look who GW Bush and Laura Bush do their interviews with. It's not CNN, or ABC, or NBC or CBS or CNN.... it's Fox News only. If I had to put anyone in the center it would be the NBC family MSNBC & CNBC. CNBC is pro-business and most of their people are pro-Bush which is fine in my view even though I'm a Dem. MSNBC in my opinion is very equal. They've got guys like Matthews who I think does a good job and guys like Buchanan and Scarborough who I dont mind listening too either.

  22. I think this was mis-phrased... it should read Things you have to believe to vote Republican today... and that would be focused on the current administrations policies or beliefs on all of the above listed issues. I don't think I'm painting with a thick brush on that one.
