  1. the reason why i asked is that i am going to be at the game. for a b-day gift, I also get to hang out on the field for bp. (weather permitting)
  2. the sox will draw well for the first game back on friday nite? as it stands right now, the best avail tickets are in Section 120, the first section of the lower deck box seats. I was hoping for at least 25k as a welcome back after a road trip that can go no worse than 6-2 and at worst a 2 game lead on the Twins.
  3. how ironic 85 wins for the season would have us going 73-73 for the next 146 games.
  4. anyone know whatever happened to him?

  6. QUOTE(mreye @ Apr 18, 2005 -> 12:33 PM) I don't understand. Soooo, they can have more of your money? My point is that because money is withheld from your paycheck, you don't realize how much you actually pay in taxes. Way back when, April 15th was actually tax payment day. They didn't take anything out when your received your paycheck. If they did that now, without withholding, I believe more people would be involved in the political process and less politicians would keep getting re-elected. no matter how much they take out in the beginning, you end up paying the correct amount at the end. Now granted, if you can budget for it and are disciplined enough, it makes perfect sense to keep more of your money along the way and earn interest on it but if not, just go with the flow or increase your withholdings. Last year as a single person, i was withholding 3 due to all of the deductions i knew i was going to have. (mortgage interest, property taxes, charity, etc)
  7. as a white guy, I can honestly say that reverse racisim is the biggest joke out there.
  8. Reaganomics happened and we haven't been the same since. Honestly I'd be more concerned about the national deficit and the value of the US currency more than taxes. Both of the above actually have a bigger impact on your wallet than taxes. (Interest Rates, import goods prices, etc)
  9. just a suggestion.... HAVE MORE TAKEN OUT OF CHECK ALONG THE WAY!!!
  10. for some reason, position players are the only one's available for the sit-down. no pitchers allowed. my 4 choices are thomas, konerko, rowand and dye. It would be cool to get Tadahito, but I'm not sure how fun the sit-down conversation would be? :banghead probably the longest and most awkward 30 minutes of my life.
  11. i was actually going to post something similar to this later in the month... last month for my birthday, my soon to be wife, got me one of those Sox Ultimate Fan Experience packages. on April 29th, (Maggs first game vs the Sox) I get to bum around on the field during batting practice and then get to sit-down with one of (4) sox players, (yet to be determined), for 30 minutes to chat and get autographs signed. pretty sweet!
  12. "josh fields please pick up a red courtesy phone."
  13. hey it's only been 10 shutout innings thrown by millwood against the Sox.

    Party cove

and 18 year olds cant/dont look at porn?
  15. the rio is also pretty close to the Palms. IMO, the Palms is a better casino to play at. Cheaper tables and the atmosphere favors younger people.
  16. on a side note, do you realize how dependent our country has become on cheap labor? If we were actually successful in curbing or eliminating illegal immigration from Mexico, our economy would go in the toilet.
  17. wow 95 years... I always wondered, why do we elect a coronor? How is that position a political one?
  18. i think it's a combination of both the Ryan screw-up and the strength of the party. I think the Ryan issue might have a greater effect on statewide races such as Govenor or Senate.. but even in local Congressional Races (Bean vs Crane) the Dems have been doing a great job of getting out the vote. On a side note, I also think the great Suburban sprawl will help the party a lot. Younger people like myself that are buying their first house are moving to areas that were typically solid Republican areas. (Batavia-area, Round Lake-area, Plainfield-area, etc) Thus I would expect races in these heavily Republican areas to get closer and closer each year.
  19. so while many Republicans wish to censor his lyrics and not let people be able to see naked pictures of his girlfriend/former girlfriend Pamela Anderson... they wish to have him perform?
  20. Content Democrat... while I'm unhappy with my party on a National Basis, I'm very happy with how my party has been doing here on a State Basis in Illinois. It could be better, but it certainly could be worse.
  21. We're off to a good start!!! Stem Cells Reverse Parkinson's in Monkeys 2 hours, 15 minutes ago Health - Reuters WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Stem cells taken from tiny monkey embryos and implanted in the brain reversed some of the Parkinson's symptoms in monkeys used to study the disease, Japanese researchers reported on Monday. Their study, published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation, supports arguments that stem cells taken from days-old embryos can be used to replace damaged tissues in a range of diseases, experts said. But they also cautioned that the study was preliminary and needed much more follow-up. Yasushi Takagi and colleagues at Kyoto University grew stem cells from early monkey embryos and coaxed them into becoming, or differentiating into, neurons. They then transplanted these into the brains of monkeys who had been given a Parkinson's-like condition using chemical damage. Parkinson's is caused when key brain cells that produce the message-carrying chemical dopamine die off. Symptoms start with a trembling and patients can end up paralyzed. There is no cure. Cell transplants have been a big hope of researchers, and many groups have tried transplanting brain cells into patients, including cells from the fetuses of pigs and humans. Proponents of embryonic stem-cell research believe their field offers a good opportunity, as these cells have the ability to become a range of tissues without causing immune reactions. Opponents say using a human embryo for such research or even treatment is unethical. Current law forbids the use of U.S. federal funds for most embryonic stem-cell research. Jun Takahashi and colleagues coaxed monkey embryonic stem cells into becoming neurons and then added FGF20, a growth factor that is produced exclusively in the area of the brain affected by Parkinson disease. Then they transplanted the cells into the brains of macaques. The monkeys showed reduced symptoms from their Parkinson's-like disease and when they were killed, the transplanted cells were found to have grown in their brains, Takahashi's team said. Dr. William Langston of the Parkinson's Institute in Sunnyvale, California, called the study a milestone but noted that the brain cells made by the Japanese team did not survive very well. "Clearly the study reported here will advance research aimed at validating the use of stem cells to treat neurodegenerative disease," Langston wrote in a commentary. "And this is most welcome, particularly for investigators working on strategies for cell replacement the United States," he added, referring to the political controversy over embryonic stem cells.

  23. very cool. We need to move Iowa back to a blue-state. I wouldn't be surprised if your govenor runs in '08 for President.
  24. how am I being narrow minded? I'm celebrating the fact that the guy is registering to vote... and even better registering as a Democrat. My party needs to revamp and go young.
  25. welcome to the team. Where do you live?
