is it just me or are teams in the Central Division much more active this off season than in previous years. Twins get a new 2b, Tigers signing a new closer and new starting pitcher, royals making some moves, of course the sox getting a new dh.

imagine if that money was used to invest in public schools, universal healthcare, cancer research anything positive... oh what could have been!

I love it. Only thing that chaps me is that restaurants get 2.5 yrs to comply? Give them 2.5 months.

I'm interested to see the breakdown of two, very different radio personalities.

two questions... 1) Isn't Michael Reagan, Ronald's adopted son. If so, why should I give a rat's ass about what he says??? 2) What's wrong with questioning the war in Iraq? Or calling it like he sees it? I've got a few friends/relatives who are fighting over there and they constantly tell me that the whole "demoralizing the troops" thing is complete BS. Blind Faith in anything... religion, politics, wars, etc is a dangerous thing. That's why smart leaders surround themselves with people that actually have opinions and may disagree with them. Picture Dana Carvey as George HW Bush saying... "Debate is good... Blind Faith is bad."

what if an all-star second baseman broke his hand washing his car.... whoops that already happened once.

QUOTE(nitetrain8601 @ Dec 5, 2005 -> 09:07 PM) How is the WBC a bad idea? How is it any different then having a couple of all-star games or Winter League? It's not like these guys will be going 9 innings per outing and the only ones pitching. In fact, I will venture to say that the ones playing in the WBC have an advantage when it comes to the regular season since they'll have more of a rhythm while many are still trying to find their's. I think the WBC is a great idea. If the White Sox weren't coming off of a World Series, I bet there wouldn't be as many complainers. If an injury occurs, then an injury occurs. There's no way you can 100% prevent an injury. Whether someone is playing a game at the park with their kids or playing against a National team. i couldnt agree more. how is this any different than the Dream Team for Basketball???

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Nov 17, 2005 -> 10:46 PM) You know it's not good when your 9-year-old daughters asks "What are lady lumps?" :headshake i remember asking my parents what an "annaconda" was after hearing the Baby Got Back Song 20 years ago... I'm sure your daughter will end up ok.

anybody that knows anything about politics would be bright enough to realize that the parties have done a polar opposite switch over the past 150 years. The ideals of the old Democratic party would allign themselves closer to the Republican Party of today (and visa versa) But... nice try.

As a hardcore (D), I'm not overly concerned with the fundraising issue. It's funny, I can kind of equate this to the Sox vs Cubs. I think of the Sox as (D) and the Cubs as ®. We saw that if the Sox put a quality team on the field, money/attendance came pouring in. The Cubs can have a poor team and still get the money/attendance. The diehard (R's) have issues that drive financial contributions no matter what. Many on the hard-right would donate their kids college education funds in order to try and overturn Roe v Wade. Many on the hard-right would donate tons of money in order to try and regulate prayer in school. Then, let's not forget about the tax breaks for large businesses. That generates a lot of donations as well. My point I guess is in 2 phases. Phase 1, put a quality candidate out there and the base/indep's will cough up the cash. Phase 2, generate some hard-hitting issues that will generate additional money from the sidelines. This is obviously harder to do when your major positions are the law (no prayer in school, right to choose, etc) The right to protect (Status Quo) will never generate as much $ as the idea to overturn and re-regulate.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 7, 2005 -> 01:16 PM) I just went to order that book, it was listed under fiction and why wouldnt it be. all these authors who write these slanderous books (on both sides of the aisle) disgust me. whats the saying.. if you expect your leaders to have higher morals and values than the normal man, then you are just setting yourself up for disapointment.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 2, 2005 -> 11:16 PM) No way to a parking garage. The one in St Louis is a nightmare. And BTW.. the Sox don't own the parking lots.. they are ownd by a private group and leased to the ISA. steff- i dont agree on the parking lot situation. I went to a Cards game this summer, parked in the garage and was out of there in 5 minutes. It was beautiful. In fact I told my wife as we were leaving "I wish I could do this at US Cellular" Maybe I caught it on a good day?

check out UIC. Great business dept (imo better than Champaign) and you are real close to US Cellular. Cheap school, housing can be pricey, fun neighborhood and best of all.. you are in Chicago. (The world's your oyster!!!)

so if Carl Everett wants to pull his kids out of the 2nd grade Dinosaur lesson or talking about Pangea that's ok?? the danger in letting the parents win here, is where does it stop. what if a family doesnt like a book their kid has to read, or doesnt agree with the way math or reading is taught... (and there is a lot of fights going on about reading teaching styles) THe other issue at hand is the disruption to the classroom that is caused by having to stop everyone from learning until little Johnny and his ears are safely out of distance. My wife had a Jehovah Witness Kid a few years ago. A bigger nightmare, you can not imagine. They even had the nerve to bring in a book on how and what to teach their kid. Like she has the time or the ability to customize learning styles and programs for 25 different 2nd graders. Parents....

cheney got my respect when he split from the President and the Christian Right on Equal Rights for Gays & Lesbians. Although I think he was a panzie when he refused to discuss it at the Vice Presidential Debate with Edwards last year.

gotta love a store that refuses to sell Maxim Magazine or CD's with "graphic" lyrics in them but finds it ok to sell guns and ammo at their stores.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Oct 14, 2005 -> 04:45 PM) Or Blame Bush. It's about the same thing. should we blame someone else for his staged news conference to help offset his record low approval numbers???

i would have preferred if he wore a fighter jet suit and flew on in to meet with the soldiers directly.
