it's a dave chapelle thing.

I'd just like to point out that Shingo for the month of June has now pitched 6.2 innings with 2 hits, 1 earned run, 2 walks and 9 strikeouts. I think he may have worked his way out of a funk.

used to go there all the time in college. certainly a great place to go.

great show. great idea. i wish a major network would have picked it up though.

the people of WV obviously don't have a problem with what he did over 60 years ago... why do you? in fact i've heard that he's been a long-time, strong advocate for the african american community. in my mind, he's a symbol of how "certain" people can turn their lives around and become decent citizens.

yeah the republicans have made a big push for the latino vote. They are still 9 pts behind nationally and I think it depends on the candidate rather than the party as a whole. Bush being an ex-texan did pretty well with this demographic. i'd venture to guess that other's such as Bob Dole didn't have this same level of success. While it's still early, unless McCain gets the nomination (which the religous right won't let him get) i'd bet that this difference between repubs and dems goes back to double digits for latinos. i'm actually surprised by how large of a gap there was for asian americans. for some reason (which i can't explain) i would havee thought the republicans would be polling better here.

QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 08:41 PM) Yep. I think that comments like that divide the party even more than it is--I also think that it pushes away moderates (hell, I'm not even a moderate and it pissed me off). Perhaps Dean's time would be better spent trying to get Christians/religious people to vote for him instead of ragging on the republicans and their constituents. Forget about the other party and get youself in order.... His phrasing was no doubt poor. But as the above figures show, these are the only categories that the president won. There is truth behind the comments. It's no different than republicans saying that the democratic party is the party of the minorities and poor. (women, blacks, latinos, asians, etc.)

on behalf of Howard Dean and the Democratic Party.. i apologize for offending you.

you're seriously offended???

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 8, 2005 -> 05:02 PM) I loved this response.... Asked about it on the "Fox & Friends" show, GOP Party Chairman Ken Mehlman joked that "a lot of folks who attended my Bar Mitzvah would be surprised" he heads a Christian party. guess he is part of the 25% of jewish people who actually voted for Bush.

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2004/pages/res...0/epolls.0.html Let me just preface this with the fact that Dean should not have said this. However it's pretty true. The only categories that Bush actually won were men, christians or caucasians. From these numbers below you would think that Kerry would have won. It just shows how important getting out your party base is. Males: Bush 55% Kerry 44% Females: Kerry 51% Bush 48% White Men: Bush 62% Kerry 37% White Women: Bush 55% Kerry 44% Non-White Men: Kerry 67% Bush 30% Non-White Women: Kerry 75% Bush 24% Overall Whites: Bush 58% Kerry 41% Overall African Americans: Kerry 88% Bush 11% Overall Latinos: Kerry 53% Bush 44% Overal Asians: Kerry 56% Bush 44% Others: Kerry 54% Bush 40% Protestants: Bush 59% Kerry 40% Catholic: Bush 52% Kerry 47% Jewish: Kerry 74% Bush 25% Other: Kerry 74% Bush 23% None: Kerry 67% Bush 31%

I'm a bit surprised that Ozzie hasn't used Shingo that much lately. Especially with the poor performance from Marte lately. Why not go Politte/Cotts in the 7th, Shingo in the 8th and Hermanson in the 9th? Also, why even use Hermanson in non-save situations and save his arm? shingo has been in 19 games this year. i would count 2 of these games as being horrible performances. The rest have been average or good. in those 2 games, he has pitched a total of 1.2 Innings, Gave up 8 hits and 7ER. (37.80 ERA) in the other 17 games, he has pitched a total of 12.2 Innings, Gave up 11 hits and 4ER. (2.84 ERA w/14 k's) even yesterday, ozzie went to vizcaino instead of using shingo??? thoughts...

dare i say... a new hitting coach? shake things up a bit. while i know its not walkers fault, sometimes these things need to be done sooner rather than later. i thought walker had adjusted crede's swing for a higher performance?
-
furthere info.. chavez's 2004 fielding % .968. Crede .965.
-
are we talking about eric chavez and his .213 batting average? How is he an upgrade over the cheaper, better hitting, better fielding Joe Crede? On top of that, Brandon McCarthy our 6th starter.
-
i know it sounds crazy but to me it looks like he doesn't even want to be out there. it seems like he doesn't care.
-
what's going on with this guy? 2 months ago i was thinking that i'd rather have him at DH over Frank. After his .189 May batting average I can't wait for Frank or even Ross Gload to get back!!!
-
does anyone know when Gload is coming back? He could certainly DH.

to me, parking tickets are just the cost of doing business. nothing out of the ordinary. if he spent that money on strippers and booze than that would be another thing. also, how do we know what campaign funds these consisted of. He could have used the private money he loaned his campaign for this or DNC donations or even my donation to pay for this.
-
campaign car, campaing workers, campaign tickets paid for by campaign funds... what am i missing here? next big story, Barack Obama uses campaign funds to pay for letterhead and paper clips.
-
well it must be getting better. yesterday at this time, the best seats avail were in Section 120. Today we've moved to Section 117.
