  1. Hawk's career statistics??? http://www.baseball-reference.com/h/harreke01.shtml For the way he talks on the air, I would have thought he would have better numbers than these.
  2. the other thing that makes me cautiously optimistic is the number of innings our big 4 have pitched and how many starts they have left... Jon Garland (3 starts left) currently at 200.1 IP, career high is 217.0. Jose Contreras (2 starts left) currently at 187.2 IP, career high is 169.4. Freddy Garcia (2 starts left) currently at 213 IP, career high is 238.0. Mark Buehrle (2 starts left) currently at 222 IP, career high is 245.0. it will be Garland tonight vs the Tribe it will be McCarthy, Contreras, Garcia and Buerhle versus Minnesota it will be Garland, McCarthy, Contreras and Garcia versus Detroit it will be Buerhle, Garland and McCarthy verus Cleveland to end the season. Lets hope for an early lead in many of these games to allow for some reduced innings for the starters and some bullpen time for guys like Baj, Sanders and Vizcaino.
  3. As it stands right now, we have a 3.5 game lead on the Indians and a 4 game lead on the Yankees. We have the toughest schedule remaining of the 3. Cleveland vs White Sox (4) vs Kansas City (4) vs Tampa Bay (3) Opponents Combined Weighted Winning % (.457) Chicago vs Cleveland (4) vs Minnesota (4) vs Detroit (4) Opponents Combined Weighted Winning % (.511) New York Yankeees vs Baltimore (6) vs Toronto (3) vs Boston (3) Opponents Combined Weighted Winning % (.502)
  4. does anyone know what the average payout schedule is for signing bonuses for those drafted in the 7th, 8th or 9th round?
  5. thats the jon garland we need for the rest of the season and hopefully the post season. Another 1 run victory!!!
  6. all he has to do now is admit the mistakes made (and for going to) Iraq.
  7. this is our generations civil rights battle. similar-types of people blocked womens rights and equal work equal pay, others blocked equal rights for minorities. in the end, they were defeated and we have progressed as a society. equal rights for homosexuals will be here soon. it's just a matter of how fast this train is traveling. will equality be provided in 5 years or 15 years? That's the battle that is being fought. in the end, everyone will have equal rights. Not just the "chosen"
  8. i hate to say it, but i've limited the number of games i've gone to this year due to money. At $25-30 per ticket (good seats of course) plus the $18 for parking and $7 in gas money, my wife and I are already at $75 before I enter the gates. Add in food, we'll end up at $100 or so. And that's for a weekday game. On the weekends, when I can afford to get home at 12pm after the game, add another $20 for tickets. (thanks White Sox price gougers) Honestly, even though I am a die-hard fan, there are things I'd rather spend $100-$120 on before a 3 hour baseball game.
  9. this is all you need to know in 2002 BP had an annual gross profit of $21 billion. This grew to $28 billion in 2003 and was $35 billion in 2004. in 2002 Exxon Mobil had an annual gross profit of $112 billion. This grew to $116 billiion in 2003 and $134 billion in 2004. For those who dont know, gross profit is very simply revenues minus product cost. The gas companies are clearly raising prices at a rate far exceeding increased costs.
  10. all i have to say is watch Exxon Mobil and BP's earnings after 3rd and 4th quarter 2005. both of there eps have tripled in the past 3yrs.
  11. i wonder if ozzie would want to go righty, lefty, righty for the rotation? Especially since game 1 may be a day game (3:05 start???) Garcia, Buehrle, Garland??
  12. but i believe in intelligent design....
  13. worst lineup ever. nothing like having nearly 1/2 of your lineup hittting under .240. whats the over/under on Juan Uribe popups?
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Aug 30, 2005 -> 05:40 PM) Scott Bikowski led the AA Southern League in batting average 3 years ago. What about him? yeah.. what happened to the new rules??:?
  15. in looking at the list, I guess you are right. the only exception to the rule is the Great Falls rookie team in Montana. That's a long drive to A- North Carolina.
  16. i hope you mean 6 hours via bus because you can basically cover the country via plane in 6 hours.
  17. a thought occured to me earlier today. In the past when the sox were hurting for attendance, I wonder why they didnt try and move one of their local Rookie, A, AA or even AAA teams to the Chicagoland area. The Iowa Cubs draw pretty well. Why couldnt we have the Kane County White Sox? Kane County already draws well but it could be a big plus to the Chi Sox if fans could follow their favorite minor league guys to the bigs. As it stands right now, the Sox have affiliates in SC, NC, AL, MT and VA. What no Sox fans in rural IL, WI, IN, IA, KY, OH, MI that would like to see the team but cant drive 3+ hours to go to a game? AAA= Indianapolis Indians, Iowa Cubs, Louisville Bats (Reds), Columbus Clippers (Yankees), Toldeo Mud Hens (Tigers) AA= Akron Aeros (Indians) A= Too many to list. (2 in Illinois) (3 in Indiana) (4 in Iowa) (2 in Wisconsin) (1 in Kentucky) (3 in Ohio) (3 in Michigan)

  19. howard stern said it best the other day... if president bush has time to meet with jerry falwell and ride bikes with Lance armstrong, how come he doesnt have time to meet with a mother who's son died fighting in the war. the b.s. answer is that if he met with her, he'd have to meet with everyone... blah, blah, blah.
  20. true.. however the only thing thats going to make gas prices drop significantly and permanently for all of us to reduce our demand.
  21. wow, i struck a cord. my point is that in many cases (not all) people think they need a bigger car than they actually do. s*** I had trouble putting the new water softener I bought yesterday in the Corolla but I made it work. As for putting all of that stuff in the suv, I ask again whether or not your parents were able to put all of that in their wagons or cars back then. if so, why cant we now? Nothing ticks me off more than seeing some car getting 15mpg sitting in bumper to bumper traffic with 1 person in it on the highway. It's like that funny Miller High Life Commercial... "The only off-roading she's going to be doing is if she runs over her flowerbed."
  22. you'll soon see the return of the wagon. i still dont get it. my toyota corolla (which gets 32mpg) has 5 seats. The reason why a husband, wife and 2 kids cant ride in this is because....... maybe part of the problem is that parents bring too much sh*t of their kids on a road trip. i see this with my cousins. they drive 30 minutes and the kids have to watch a dvd or play gameboy or bring 15 toys with them. when i was young it was color, read a book, or look out the damn window. But then again I didnt have a.d.d. either.
  23. my favorite line of the article... "Todd Ledbetter, 39, a real estate investor who lives in Columbia Heights, says he and his wife have no choice but to own a Honda SUV, with two boys, ages 3 and 9, and a third child on the way." Wow a family of 4 and soon to be 5 has no choice but to own a SUV? Funny, I don't remember seeing any SUV's in the 50's, 60's, 70's or 80's. there must not have been 4-5 members of a family back then.
