my bad. didn't really think of this being a "political" debate topic. more of a business debate topic. as-in, market sets the price, blah, blah.

anyone else seeing a trend here??? http://biz.yahoo.com/ap/060130/earns_exxon_mobil.html?.v=9 i just emailed Sen Obama, Durbin and my Congressman (Hastert) re this. Not to sound like an activist, but I feat that the only thing that is going to get this issue looked at are constituents bugging the sh*t out of them. Disgruntled Dems Consider Challenge to Lieberman
jasonxctf replied to southsideirish71's topic in The Filibuster
tell Lieberman that's what he gets for pushing for Clinton impeachment and supporting censorship for music, video games and movies. I hope they do run someone against him and Lieberman loses. -
QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 19, 2006 -> 10:08 PM) Reading the last paragraph of the article, I think calling whatever that source is "news" is a stretch. It looks like a fact-challenged letter to the editor. agreed... the last paragraph has Fox News written all over it.

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 16, 2006 -> 03:17 PM) I loves me some good oratory. The dude's name is David Englin, Delegate to the Virginia State Assembly. a great American and a great politican. Let's hope that the good people of Virgina come to their senses on this one.

on this topic, there is a cool website called www.270towin.com you can view every electoral college result in US History. Even back to hte 1st Presidential Election where Washington won with 69 electoral votes. Pretty neat.

i think that's what the dem party should do next time. forget about campaigning in New Mexico, Washington, Oregon, Iowa, Minnesota, Nevada, etc. Even if no one set foot in CA or HI, we would probably still carry those states. With those (2) states, you could still loose GA, TN, NC, VA, WV, IN, KY, AL, MS, SC and still win. Just put all of your time, effort and money into FL, OH, PA and maintain your "slight dem" states of WI and NH.
-
Did you know that with the electoral college, no candidate would need to cross the Mississippi River to win the election. You can win by grabbing every state east of the river. In fact, you can win even by losing Indiana, Kentucky, Alabama, Missisippi and South Carolina as long as you carry the rest.

democrats are dirty. republicans are dirtier.

each and every nominee, no matter who appoints them, should be grilled intensively. This is a lifetime appointment to the or of one the most important positions in our country. the position doesnt even allow for will of the people in terms of voting people in. im tired of the dogsh*t answers that these guys come with during their confirmations too. The whole process stinks.

a line from the Simpsons a few nites ago gives my sentiment... Marge at a Crate and Barrel knock off... "made in america?? no, thank you!" maybe the auto industry is a bad example but its the only thing in my head right now. how many times have you heard about GM, Ford and Chrysler recalls. Now think how often you've heard of Honda and Toyota recalls. American Craftmanship has gotten pretty damn poor. Partially due to poor assembly, partially due to poor design and engineering. In a global economy, with capitalism everywhere, you've got to earn it to keep it. No free lunches anymore.

US economy "stronger than people think"
jasonxctf replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 06:18 PM) But I keep getting told how housing prices are putting money into peoples pockets and are singlehandedly pushing this extended recovery? How can housing prices be both good and bad when fitting for an arguement. good point. i guess it's good for those selling a high-end home for a low-end townhouse (think elderly). it's bad for those buying their first home (think 20-somethings) and it's bad for those who are selling a low-end home/townhouse for a high end home. -
Once again...Harry Belafonte opens big mouth

US economy "stronger than people think"
jasonxctf replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
all i know is what i heard this morning on CNBC. Personal Income rose 3.1% for 2005 Inflation rose 3.5% for 2005 Net loss to consumer 0.4%. AND... the inflation rate does not include gas/utility prices and housing prices. Imagine the bloodbath if they did. -
caught it on my drive in. loved the fact of being able to listen for 45 mins w/o commercials.

my wife and i are thinking of selling our 1st house in the next few months. Any suggestions from those who have done this before? What is the average commission % that a realtor asks for? Has anyone used buyowner.com?? Thanks.

QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jan 6, 2006 -> 12:50 AM) 2 of my uncles and my mom are on there. What exactly does that mean? it means that somewhere along the way, someone owes money to your uncles and mom. I've heard stories of forgotten inheritances, utility refunds, deposit refunds, missing/lost child support, stock dividends, etc. Could be interest on a closed savings acct too.. who knows???
