he was on stern a few weeks back talking about this too. the story itself is pretty sad, however it was his fault that it happened in the first place. then again, he was also talking about problems of having a 10" member too...

Flag burning amendment headed to Senate floor.
jasonxctf replied to NUKE_CLEVELAND's topic in The Filibuster
QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 16, 2006 -> 04:08 AM) This would be the first amendment to restrict behavior protected in the Bill of Rights. this is an important point to not be forgotton here. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 15, 2006 -> 04:40 PM) The rabid dogs (aka ultra-libs) have almost completed their 'quest'... first, get Congress pissy and torn apart. Second, get GWB's poll #'s down. And if none of that works to get us out of Iraq, start pissing all over the soldiers. Nice. :headshake

Bush to Protect huge part of Hawaiian Chain
jasonxctf replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
agreed. this is the 2nd positive thing i've seen from gwb in the past day. the other being taking the high road and calling to apologize to a reporter he made fun of for wearing sunglasses. the guy had some sort of medical condition in which the glasses help. -
in hindsight, i think the way he went about going is what's causing any real type of interest here. just like when he went secretively a few years ago for Thanksgiving for a photo-op infront of a fake turkey.

that evil liberal media, always out to get the President.

maybe im missing something here, but hasn't nearly every member of Congress gone to Iraq by now? Some members of the Cabinet have as well. Hasn't Tony Blair gone as well. Is this really a big deal?

is the war on terror similar to the war on drugs? it sounds nice, but unfortunately it's an enemy that can never fully be defeated? just asking and interested in your responses.

funny... didn't this guy and the administration try and push through a bill yesterday that was going to divide people by their sexual orientation??? and try and incorporate it into the constitution??? As an intro, native Hawaiians were trying to establish the same types of natural protections that Native Americans have. This bill actually got 16 Republican Votes and all of the Democrat votes. Still fell 4 short of coming out of committee.. But Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, said it violated both the letter and spirit of the Constitution. “I can not and will not support a bill whose very purpose is to divide Americans based upon race,” he said. Assistant Attorney General William Moschella, in a letter Wednesday to Majority Leader Bill Frist, R-Tenn., said the administration “strongly opposes” the bill because it would reverse the country’s melting-pot tradition and “divide people by their race.”

decisions are made by those who show up. so anyone, and I mean anyone, who sits and b****es, moans, complains about the government without voting themselves is a complete hypocrite. we do have the power here. we just choose to not utilize it.

QUOTE(jasonxctf @ Jun 1, 2006 -> 08:59 PM) i've got some used laptops coming back to me off-lease from a local Illinois school. 3 years old, nice Compaq/HP laptops. asking price is $350. if you want details, email me at [email protected] by the way, it goes without saying that these laptops are in good working order, but do not come with any type of warranty.

of course the problem is finding a guy from every team. thus Grudzelanek from KC is the most qualified player they've got. While deserving, Kazmir from Tampa takes another spot away from a pitcher, etc.

Hastert under investigation in bribery scandal
jasonxctf replied to Balta1701's topic in The Filibuster
i was wondering why he was pretty quick to protect that (D) congressman from Louisana after the FBI sting caught him. Hastert quickly went to Bush to complain about the investigation and Bush quickly sealed the documents today. Now why would the lead Congressional Republican come to such a quick defense of a Democrat when the Republican party is struggling to keep control of the house this fall??? -
well last time we ran a pretty weak candidate against Hastert and lost 69-31%. I'm hoping that we break at least 35% this time, maybe even 40%.
-
i don't like my guy and will be voting against him in October. Problem is, there will only be about 36-38% of us.
-
if it needs 2/3rds to pass, then you'd need 17 states to vote against it. 1- MA 2- CA 3- OR 4- WA 5- NY 6- NJ 7- DE 8- RI 9- VT 10- NH 11- ME 12- CT 13- HI 14- IL 15- MD 16- MI 17- WI 18- WY (Let Freedom Ring)

just think, if Ozzie was a weatherman, we could have skipped the whole Haegar the Horrible incident last night. Garland would have pitched last night on 4 days rest and Vazquez would have pitched Friday on 5 days rest. Buehrle on Saturday on 5 days rest, etc.

funny story, for the longest time DC residents had license plates that read "No taxation without represenation" any car registered in DC had this on there, including politicians personal cars.
