April 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 02:47 PM) Aka he's on the Charlotte Knights and is hitting .259 Perfect.
April 20, 200520 yr I'm hoping he can get really hot down there and maybe we can use him as trade bait.

April 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 01:07 PM) He had to pass through waivers to get to AAA. Nobody wanted him. I thought he had an option left for some reason???
April 20, 200520 yr He had to pass through waivers to get to AAA. Nobody wanted him. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just hope Davis lights it up at AAA and maybe some other team will have a catcher injury and will want his sorry ass.
April 20, 200520 yr QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 20, 2005 -> 04:09 PM) I thought he had an option left for some reason??? He had 10 days to decide whether to take his $1M and a tour of the International league or become a free agent. He chose the cash.
April 20, 200520 yr I dont get it, Didn't he have better spring numbers than widger <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Davis only had 20 at bats because he tore a ligament in his index finger. The Sox seems to like Widger's defense so they went with him instead.

April 21, 200520 yr Why do people keep assuming that we can trade Ben Davis for something? The only way to get rid of him would be to pay most of his salary so we might as well keep in the minors
April 21, 200520 yr He's a switch hitter right? Maybe he should've just decided to bat on one side and just work on that.

He's not going to get us a first rate prospect, but he does have some value. I like the fact he's still with us in case AJ or Widger goes down.

Unless he lights it up at Charlotte and a team loses their catcher to injury, Davis has zero trade value. Edited April 21, 200520 yr by Jabroni

April 21, 200520 yr Trade value? Debatable maybe, but no question, Davis is an excellent "Oh s***!" policy. "Oh s***! AJ is hurt" well, good thing we have Davis down there ready.
April 21, 200520 yr I disagree, but whatever. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Davis was put on waivers and every team in the MLB chose NOT to claim him. He's a nice backup in case we have an injury to one of our catchers but other than that I don't see Davis having any trade value. Care to explain why you think he does?

Unless he lights it up at Charlotte and a team loses their catcher to injury, Davis has zero trade value. If a team had claimed him off waivers they would've also been responsible for his $1 mil salary, thus the reason he was not claimed. He also didn't sign with someone else because he would've had to forfeit that $1 mil and Mrs Davis didn't raise that much of an idiot. He still has value to teams(if the Sox pick up most of that salary) and that could include the Sox but we really don't have a need we need to fill at the moment so why force a trade.

If the Sox have to eat most of Davis' salary just to trade him, that means that he doesn't have any trade value.
