  1. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 18, 2009 -> 08:38 PM) I just did a comparison of the Sox schedule vs. the Tigers schedule the rest of the way. I think I'm going to throw up. seems like the Sox play to the level of their competition. So they'll play well against the Bo Sox and Yankees, just to get swept by Cleveland.
  2. that weights a players performance in an AB/IP based upon the importance of the event? Javy Vazquez pitches well in games that don't matter Jim Thome hits home runs in bunches, when a game is out of reach Scott Podsednik/Joe Crede hits well in clutch situations Alexei Ramirez hits well in extra innings. "A clutch-o-meter?"
  3. Torturing Dogs is a horrible, horrible thing. However the man did the crime, did his time. Now its time to move on folks. You can't hold it against him forever.
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 16, 2009 -> 12:06 AM) Bill Clinton was a Democrat. He was pro-outsourcing, embraced the economic race to the bottom (a few trillionaires with billions of peasants), did a whole lot of deregulation, ect. His economy was a complete bubble, which burst. He basically did everything that idiot Greenspan told him to do on the economy. What we got was an unsustainable mess that has now created a situation where there is long term massive unemployment; the US is becoming an economic has been. We don't innovate, we can't produce, we have an economy based around paper pushing and bailouts. The truth is both Clinton and GW Bush were total disasters. but lets be fair in that comment, he also did a great job managing the US Budget. Turning a deficit into a surplus, is not an easy task. On the other hand, turning a surplus into a deficit, seemed might easy, didn't it.

  6. Its funny, if you didn't know any better and were asked to pick which map represented Blue winning 53-46 and which one winning 50-48, i'm sure you'd get it wrong.
  7. QUOTE (mreye @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 01:22 PM) How about the welfare state? Other than that I'd say Maine. It's way the F**k up there and it's not even spelled correctly. Sorry, I already said Mississippi.
  8. dont forget Glen Beck http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/thu-augu...eck-s-operation
  9. So I was reading an article earlier today that said that Obama was the first Democrat to win the White House with 50%+ of the vote since LBJ. I knew that with Ross Perot involved, that Clinton didn't, but couldn't believe that there was a strong 3rd party in 76 with Jimmy Carter. Well my hunch was close as Carter won 50.1% of the vote. Anyway, looking at the electoral college map from that election, its amazing to see the shift in American politics. In 1976, the Republicans won what is now solid Democrat states. (California, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine) In 1976 the Democrats won what is now solid Republican states. (Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, West Virgina and South Carolina) Interesting to see a dramatic shift (nationally) for 19 states over the 7 elections in between Carter and Obama.
  10. QUOTE (mr_genius @ Aug 14, 2009 -> 01:30 AM) sell Hawaii and pay off the national debt. its funny you mention that.. i've thought of that idea a few times (not selling Hawaii but selling other territories) check out the list.. 11. Saw this tidbit and thought I'd post here... The measure would block funds for counseling that presents suicide or assisted suicide as an option, Blumenauer said, calling references to death panels or euthanasia "mind-numbing." "It's a blatant lie, and everybody who has checked it agrees," he said. Alaska Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski said this week that Palin and other critics were not helping the GOP by throwing out false claims. "Quite honestly, I'm so offended at that terminology, because it absolutely isn't" in the bill, Murkowski said. "There is no reason to gin up fear in the American public by saying things that are not included in the bill." Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson, a Republican who co-sponsored a similar measure in the Senate, said it was "nuts" to claim the bill encourages euthanasia. "You're putting the authority in the individual rather than the government," Isakson said. "I don't know how that got so mixed up."
  12. Paul Konerko for Mike Cameron Jose Contreras for Esteban Loaiza Gavin Floyd & Gio Gonzales for Freddy Garcia Carlos Quentin for Chris Carter
  13. just a curious question... can't the town hall organizers insist that the only ones allowed in, are those who actually live in the District? That would keep 90% of those disrupting things, out. Just show proof of residence in the District.. electric bill, ID, voter registration ID, etc.
  14. as i tell my republican co-workers... don't let facts stand in the way.
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Aug 10, 2009 -> 05:53 PM) The birther movement got themselves a theme song. that is absolutely hilarious. what a joke these people are. This is the face of the Republican Party right now.
  16. you need to deduct the difference associated with Pods being here too. because if we had Swisher, when Quentin went down, we wouldn't have acquired Pods. (with BA/Wise as options for 1 position)
  17. I had heard that this was a knockoff of a german program. Did the Germans borrow the idea from China?
  18. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 31, 2009 -> 03:22 PM) For the most part people are just posting ones they've heard of, not necessarily ones they believe in. exactly.. maybe a new one will be that Michael Jackson didn't die, that he's still alive and planning a huge comeback???
  19. Keep them coming... - We never landed on the moon - Dinosaurs never existed - Bush conspired 9-11 - Obama was born in Kenya - Nazi concentration camps never existed - Jimmy Hoffa is buried under the NY Giants Stadium - LBJ was in on the plot to kill JFK
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) These are all about the same relevancy. Actually this would be a good thread. Conspiracies. i agree and will start one.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 30, 2009 -> 01:36 PM) You think they have a mortgage on the capitol? I highly doubt that. they may not have a mortgage, but they may have some sort of capital improvement bonds/building bonds, etc. They could retire that debt, take the bond payments off the books, get a cash infusion, and move the cost of renting the building to an "operating" expense. Actually, I'm nearly 100% positive that they do. According to Moody's. Government Office Lease Revenue Refunding Bonds(Capital Mall L.L.C. 22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 09:50 PM) There is fiscally conservative, and then there is fiscally moronic. This falls into the latter category. its cash flow too... maybe they want to get out of long-term debt obligations that they currently have. (if there is a mortgage on the property) eliminate say a $50k/mo mortgage payment for the next 20 years, to take on a $30k/mo rent payment instead. Cash flow savings $20k/mo.
  23. honestly, conservatives should embrace this. they favor smaller government, and a quick way to reduce the size/scope of government, is to sell off things that they own/manage. (parking meters, tollways, buildings, etc) so if Arizona does this, they just reduced the size of their government, probably reduced some government workers too and moved those jobs into the private space.
