QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 30, 2016 -> 03:13 AM) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Empowering_Patients_First_Act This is likely to be the Republican Health Care plan introduced by Price/Ryan...as the replacement for ObamaCare. Judge for yourself whether people will be better off today or in the future. [iThe Act intends to fund itself through cuts to future spending increases, more commonly known as sequestration, and expected declines in the uninsured population. The Act's effects on the general public and the federal budget have yet to be assessed by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT).[/i] As for this piece, I'll quote wolf of Wall Street MARK HANNAH: It's all a fugazi /fuɡɑzi/. Do you know what fugazi /fuɡɑzi/ is? JORDAN BELFORT: Fugazi /fuɡeɪzi/, it's a fake ... MARK HANNAH: Yeah, fugazi /fuɡeɪzi/, fugazi /fuɡɑzi/. It's a wahzi, it's a woozy. It's ... fairy dust. It doesn't exist, it's never landed, it is no matter, it's not on the elemental chart. It's not f***ing real.

There has to be an individual mandate or coverage rates are going to decrease again. People don't want to buy insurance. It's the sad truth. Many would rather "roll the bones" and hope they never need anything serious. And if they do, they'll skip out on the doctors/hospitals on payment because they don't have it or file bankruptcy. In turn these providers will charge more to other patients/insurance companies to offset the losses. Then insurance rates will rise to offset the additional charges. I don't care what they call it. Call it Trumpcare for all I care. Just leave the individual mandate in.

Weirdly more people voted in the democratic primary in 2016 than in the republican primary?? 311k to 301k

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 29, 2016 -> 04:50 PM) Has there been any follow-up polling to Foster Campbell? Not sure why I should care, obviously all of the secret voters come out of the woodwork. http://www.fostercampbell2016.com/ Donated again. He's really going to help the khaki caucus reassert dominance. Louisiana is the classic case of democrats not getting voters registered or out to the polls. See the 2010 census below. According to the 2010 Census: White Americans – 63.7% (59.9% non-Hispanic white, 3.8% White Hispanic) Black or African American – 30.4% Asian – 2.8% Multiracial American – 1.6% Native American – 1.0% Other race – 1.5% Hispanic or Latino of any race – 6.5% So it's basically 60% white and 40% non white For dems-- get 35% of the white vote and 80% of the non white vote and you win. 53-47% Even at 75% non white vote you're at 51% Used to have democratic senators.... Clinton won it in 1992 and 1996. Gore lost it by 7.7% Kerry lost it by 14.5% Obama lost it by 18.5% in 2008 Obama lost it by 17.2% in 2012 Clinton lost it by 19.7% in 2016

Democrats are defending 23 senate seats. 2 independent seats. 8 seats for republicans. A lot can change in 2 years (retirements, running for governors races etc) but right now it looks like 7 big races per cook political report. 1. Heller ® - Nevada 2. Flake ® - Arizona 3. Brown (D) - Ohio 4. McCaskill (D) - Missouri 5. Donnelley (D) - Indiana 6. King (I) - Maine 7. Nelson (D) - Florida Personally I think that #2, 6, and 7 won't be too competitive and that the incumbents will win. I'd replace them with Heitkamp (D)- North Dakota, and Baldwin (D) Wisconsin.

Greg don't get your hopes up. Unless it was a nationwide "hack" the narratives don't make sense. She did very well in areas with educated individuals. So rural Wisconsin performance mirrors how she did in sat rural Illinois or Montana or any other uneducated area. She did even better than Obama in the cities/burbs across the country. She even won Orange County, ca. It's been like 70 years since a dem won out there. But in states that matter she lost uneducated America at a far higher rate than obama did. http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/educat...vote-for-trump/

My prediction, no depression. A recession for sure. Starting in late 2018. High inflation. Interest rates are on the rise meaning that businesses who have some form of borrowing (equipment loans, lines of credit, etc) will pay more in interest expense. This will discourage equipment purchases. I do a lot of equipment loans for businesses. Been told to expect a 0.25% rise before 12/1 and another 0.25% in January. Just check out how the 5 year treasury has reacted since the election. http://finance.yahoo.com/quote/^FVX?ql=1&p=^FVX For consumers this means higher interest rates on mortgages (new and variable), auto loans, credit cards, etc. Now, I believe that rates do need to rise, but slow and gradually. Maybe 0.25% every 6 months. But hearing what I am from many banks that I work with indicates it's going to rise rapidly. Life will cost more.

It's a slow day at the office. Did a quick analysis of 2012 vs 2016 of how the 7 major Chicagoland counties voted. (Cook, DuPage, Kane, Will, Lake, McHenry, Kendall) I was somewhat surprised to see the results. 2012- These 7 counties accounted for 63.59% of the entire vote in Illinois. Obama= 2,087,638 (64.48% of the 7 counties) Romney= 1,103.578 (34.08% of the 7 counties) 2016- These 7 counties accounted for 63.95% of the entire vote in Illinois. Clinton= 2,248,105 (65.40% of the 7 counties) Trump= 1,020,258 (29.68% of the 7 counties) Total Vote Increase of 6.16%. Assuming 2012 was a "normal" year (and with an IL senator on the ballot??), Clinton's vote should have gone up to 2,216,236. Trump's should have gone up to 1,171,558 based upon a proportionate share of the increased voters. So in net, 151,300 typical Trump voters, voted either for Clinton or a 3rd party candidate in these 7 counties. That's approx 13% of his suspected voters (1 in 8) Johnson/Stein got 45,277 votes in 2012 versus 168,825 votes in 2016 in these 7 counties. Johnson's best counties were 5.1% in McHenry and 5.0% in Kendall. (the only 2 counties Trump won of the 7) Stein was between 1.3-1.5% in all 7 counties.

Michael Bloomberg. I think he's chomping at the bit, to take down Trump.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 18, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) Exactly. The economy is wretched. I don't know anybody making any real money anymore. Everybody's just hoping to not get laid off. See above post. The middle class is struggling. http://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/2016/10...p-portrays.html In summary, manufacturing is strong but automation/efficiency is high thus fewer jobs.

QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Oct 22, 2016 -> 06:20 AM) I just received a notice in the mail from a law firm trying to collect money from me for a parking ticket. The date of the citation is 6-17-97. Should I pay this? Is there any kind of statute of limitations on parking ticket? What could happen if I don't? They are saying that failure to respond to the notice may result in garnishing my wages and bank accounts, and filing a lien against my property. And that their client, the City of Chicago reserves the right to seek interest, attorney's fees, and other collection costs. It's only $61, but I still don't really want to give it to them. Just make sure it doesn't hit your credit bureau as collections. A lot of people think it doesn't matter but as someone who lends out money on a daily basis, i'll tell you that it does. in college my apartment had Nicor for gas. When we moved in, the landlord told us to call them and set up an account. We never did and the gas was on. We never said anything and never got a bill. Two years later a bill came, after we moved out and we said screw it. Well the landlord gave Nicor my roommates name and social security number and they put a collections on his bureau. He didn't find out until he applied for a mortgage years later. We paid Nicor (50-50 split) but the collections on his bureau cost him a higher mortgage rate and thus thousands of dollars over time. If you are wondering if the letter is legit, check out https://parkingtickets.cityofchicago.org/

Thanks. On the Vue can it be running on more than one device at the same time? I know that SlingTV doesnt allow that. Also, how is the DVR function? The hardest part in the switch is going to tell my daughter she's losing her movies/shows that we've DVR'd over the years and we are starting fresh. I also read that the Vue DVR only stores for 28 days and then deletes?
-
Curious if anyone here had made the switch from Cable/Sat to either Sling TV or Playstation Vue. Would love to hear the good, bad and ugly. Thanks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) It is the oddest correction I know of. After nearly a decade, the economy isn't healthy enough to sustain an actual interest rate. Numbers don't agree with each other on how healthy the economy actually is. By traditional measures, the economy should be overheating, but we are still sitting on minimal growth and inflation. Slow and steady. Nice for a change. No more house of cards. (Tech/ecommerce bubble, housing bubble)

Interesting... Us bank paid approx $8.8 million a year for 25 years on their new stadium naming rights with the Vikings. In general do football stadiums get more for naming rights then baseball? Basketball?

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Aug 24, 2016 -> 10:11 PM) Did they use 2015 season ending average vs 2016 present average??? Because Baseball Reference through yesterday has Sox attendance down about 600 per game after 59 games each season. Yup
-
Attendance up 5% this year per ESPN attendance tracker. Highest since 2012.

Wow, this is f***ing sad. Some 3rd tier mortgage company/broker/business. Couldn't get Walgreens, a big time bank, airline, Fortune 500 co?? They end up with some shady mortgage broker??

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 24, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) If Sale was that uncomfortable in it, the answer is yes. Whether he truly was or not, only he knows. Exactly. It's a two way street. Sale knew that the uniform was on the calendar. So did sox management. I wonder if they went to him a week or so ago to remind him, that he wouldn't be able to pick jerseys for this one start? Maybe everyone forgot?
