No Trayce tonight... -
cant seem to find it anywhere online... does anyone know if Flowers is near the league leaders in men left on base while batting? Now of course he doesnt play everyday, so it would need to be adjusted as LOB/game played or LOB/AB.

A curious question... If Abreu is hurting and laroche hits better when he's playing 1b.... Why is Abreu playing 1b? -
QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 01:42 AM) It's still not a desirable location, and the test for that is how well the Sox draw in seasons when they don't win. Sadly, the Sox have put their fans to that test way too many times throughout the years, as the paltry 5 playoff appearances in the last 55 years would attest. So lo those many years when the Sox weren't good enough to get into the playoffs, and the myriad dismal attendance years to go with that, tells you loudly and clearly there is nothing about that location, absolutely nothing, outside a winning product on the field, that interests people. Period. perfectly written. You are exactly right.

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jul 23, 2015 -> 02:28 AM) I don't see how Addison or the south loop make a difference. If you don't live in the city limits or nw Indiana it makes a huge difference. I can just speak of my personal experience but getting to us cellular is by far the hardest stadium for me to get to.

Thanks. Here's my problem.. They are the only airline that flies direct to where I'm going from Chicago. All other airlines have a stopover, and I'm traveling with a 4 year old. So I can fly direct, on Spirit for $550/roundtrip for 3 or I can fly with 1 stopover on American for $1100. So at the surface, I say, why pay $550 extra for a longer flight trip with the stopover??? But I also dont want to get stuck in airline hell either...

has anyone here even flown Spirit. Is it really that bad? I hear the horror stories, but would love to get some first hand feedback. Thanks.

Frankie Montas to join Sox for Double Header Friday

QUOTE (WBWSF @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:58 PM) One of the posters mentioned the stadium JR tried to get built in Addison. We're never going to find out because the stadium wasn't built there, but does anybody think they would of drawn more people in Addison? I've seen a number of White Sox surveys where they claim that 20% of White Sox attendance comes via public transportation. There's no public transportation anywhere near that Addison location. There's a Metra station in Wooddale, which isn't close to that stadium site. JR doesn't like to talk about it but when the White Sox were looking for a new stadium back in the 1980's the City of Chicago wanted to build a stadium for the White Sox in the South Loop at Roosevelt and Clark. JR turned down the offer and instead tried to get the stadium built in Addison. When Addison didn't work out the offer from the City was off the table and the White Sox got stuck at the present location. Everybody I have ever met always thought the White Sox would of been better off in the South Loop than their present location or Addison. In other words I think JR screwed up by not having the White Sox stadium built in the south Loop. I'd certainly go to more games if they were in Addison. I live 53 miles away from the stadium per Google maps, which is telling me right now to plan for an 1 hour and 47 minute trip to get there. That's insane.

It's a managers job to get the most out of their employees, regardless of industry.

More evidence of Chicago media turning on Ventura

Do you think the Sox could get Ozzie on the agreement that... - This is an interim job. No more, no less. You are helping the Sox try and save some face this year, while showing the rest of MLB Baseball that you are ready/capable to manage again. So you, Ozzie, are showcasing your talents for the rest of the league to see. We will be hiring a full time manager, after the season going forward. -
worth noting, these arent giveaway bobble heads.. looks like you have to purchase them separately. Come dressed in your finest Star Wars attire and then march in a pre-game parade around the field. We'll be featuring Star Wars graphics and music throughout the game as well as offering an exclusive Adam Wan Kenobi bobble head for the first 1,200 fans to purchase!

From a series perspective, Sox have won 10, lost 11 and tied 1. Unfortunately its 2-1 series wins and 0-3 series losses.

jasonxctf replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
While I believe that both Robin and Severson need to go, a good question is raised here. Who is the leader in clubhouse? For years, its been Konerko. I'm sure he was a great role model for the guys, probably easy going sometimes and harsh in others. So who is it... Abreu- Guy was a rookie last year. Hard to be a captain after 1 year in the big leagues. Still learning English too. Sale- Is he "mature" enough to take this role. Can a pitcher have a role like this w/hitters? Ramirez- Is the language barrier an issue? Does he care enough to accept it? Eaton- Amongst many others, a recent Sox acquisition. Not a veteran big league guy. Beckham- Can you have a part-time player as a captain/leader? There's just an overall lack of leadership. The manager doesnt seem to display it, and the players dont want (or cant) take it on. -
In today's situation with abreu, could Robin have switched abreu with laroche at 1b? Thus making abreu the DH and then pinch hitting for the DH at his next at bat?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 9, 2015 -> 10:52 PM) In 2010 the Congressional Budget office projected that the United States Federal Government would spend $11.2 trillion on health care in total over the period 2011-2020 not including the PPACA. The PPACA passed, massively expanding health care access and offering subsidies for people. The CBO just released a new set of cost estimates. If you do the math and project that into "How much will the United States Federal Government spend on health care over the period 2011-2020", the total now comes to $10.6 billion. Again to stress, the former estimate did not include Obamacare. The current estimate now does. As a nation, our total estimated costs on Health care to taxpayers with the PPACA from 2011-2020 are $600 billion less than the costs estimated without the PPACA. The government will spend a total of 4% less on Health care over this decade than estimated while simultaneously expanding health care coverage to 20 million+ people assuming the court doesn't decide against it. That's $600 billion in savings to taxpayers over a 10 year period. And every time they do a new adjustment, the total cost drops more and that amount looks even more favorable. The longer the ACA continues the better the outcomes will be. It's like a football game. You can find some plays that were pretty crappy but as the game goes on, and you start to see the "lead" increasing the better the team seams. Since I see so much of it in my world, I'm anxious to see the long term impact on personal credit and its effects on the economy. For example, less medical accounts going to collections, less medical related personal bankruptcies, etc.

my daughter will be happy. she goes to pre-school, with his "nephew". Kid came in and passed out some Sox swag to the fellow 3 year old's (back then). I thought that was pretty cool.
