Who do you have as the best??

Sopranos but so many good ones.

Tales From the Crypt deserves nomination, don't know that it would be best though

Feel like I need to nominate deadwood even though I don't know it's best

The first three seasons are just epic. I just finished watching the episode when Demi Moore marries that fat dude because the psychic lady tell her he's about to become rich.

Sopranos

The Wire

Game of Thrones

Without question the best three, just not sure the order.

And where is the Oz love? A truly entertaining show despite its shortcomings.

I still vividly remember the ventriloquist episode. So messed up. It's gonna be sad when TNT reboots it and it falls short of expectations

No TV show has given me the excitement and great anticipation as the Sopranos did.

I agree with this.

Great options but Sopranos is a top 5 show for me. Even the s4 which was pretty bad had me hooked every week.

No love for Dream On of 1st and 10? /sarcasm

Dream On was awesome. Who could forget Bagel Girl?

But yes, Sopranos.

It is Soprano's and everything else, though I will say Game of Thrones could beat it. I think their story line is way better, but we have to wait and see how the series finishes.

I'm finally watching Oz, I like it a lot so far but not as good as The Wire or Sopranos.

GOT still takes the cake for me, the complexity of the amount of characters/setting puts it over Sopranos for me.

Eastbound and Down

Oh yes, that would be my #2 after Boardwalk.

I really loved Boardwalk more than Sopranos until the last season. They skipped so much good material, and so much compelling story telling to get to an ending that they pretty much wasted the first few seasons of quality. With as few episodes as they are going to make of GOT, I am afraid they are going to do the same thing to it. There is so much great story left to tell, and now they are going to try to cram it all in to a really short period of time. I really hope they don't f*** this up.

The Wire easily for me. True Detective Season 1 is a stand alone so I think that's up there too. Some of the best 8 episodes of television ever IMO

Larry Sanders to me was the best but

Boardwalk

Wire

GOT

TD season 1

Hell it is easier to name the shows on that list that I was/am not fired up each week to watch.

HBO vs. Showtime would be interesting.

Dexter....

The first couple of seasons of Dexter were pretty good, then it fell apart, and the ending might have been the worst for a series, ever.

I loved every season actually. My wife is in the same boat as you and thought it fell off but the one thing we can all agree on is that the end was absolutely terrible.

If I have to pick one, I'll go with The Wire, but they have had so many great series through the years. It annoys me that I didn't have HBO when Larry Sanders aired originally, and it isn't on HBO GO.

Band of Brothers (does it count)? If so, it is easily Band of Brothers, followed by Game of Thrones, followed by Entourage.

Came into this thread expecting the Wire to dominate the poll and conversation, pretty surprised there's little talk of it.

I'm surprised so many people love Eastbound and Down, I enjoyed the first season but the schtick got old for me.
