And people wonder why so many Sox fans are bitter and have a chip on their shoulder. The organization gets treated like trash outside it’s fans. I get that some of it is deserved for how it’s been run the past decade or so, but when you have a team with one of the lowest payrolls and in all of baseball and hardly any money committed over the next few years - why would they be considered a long shot? They have the money Manny wants and he fits on this team ridiculously well.

I don’t recall seeing this mentioned, but Melvin Upton was on MLB Network and he said coming from experience that playing with family on the same team is very special and in his case absolutely would play a part in the decision making of where to sign. Also said if there was a big difference in money, you almost have to go with the big money. Nothing we didn’t already know/feel but at least it’s from the perspective of a guy who played with his brother.

Harper is a better fit for Philly because he is a lefty. Manny makes more sense at this point, especially after the Alonso/Jay deals.

He’s trolling. It’s far more likely the Cubs move perhaps one of the best fielders in the game (Baez) to SS and move Happ to 2B. They don’t have money. Darvish, Chatwood, and Heyward are all sunk costs, and if they have any hope of retaining Rizzo or Bryant, they need to start planning now.

That’s not a reason to not call him up if he’s banging on the door. I’d rather he learn to pitch at the MLB level before the Sox are in contention.

Only those two? I wouldn’t count out Luis Gonzalez. I think he could quietly become the best out of that group (outside of Eloy). Basabe theoretically should be the next OF on deck after Eloy comes up, but I’ve always considered him more of a 4th OF once the Sox are contending.

Makes sense. If this team was knocking on contention's door, the need to add both would be greater. Get 1 proven superstar, and continue to let the rebuild run it's course. Keep some $$$ available for next offseason and chase a SP if it's needed.

Minaya is out of options. Unless he completely implodes in ST, he's going to be a lock. That always leans in a player's favor. Doesn't mean they won't be quick to cut him, but he will not be up/down over the course of the season. Going to go with: CP - Colome SU - Herrera SU - Fry MR - Jones MR - Hamilton MR - Minaya MR - Frare LR - Covey I absolutely believe they are going with 13 pitchers again. Banuelos as the 5th starter to start the year.

How can you write off a guy who hasn't even played above A-ball let alone a full season? Fulmer - ok, there's an argument there. Even Collins you could say has been disappointing (but there are plenty of things to like there too). But Burger hasn't even had a chance to show what he's capable yet in a full season.
