Mariners front office accused of racism
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Yea, I would agree. I'm sure the MLB/MLBPA will do their due diligence to look into this. -
Mariners front office accused of racism
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Well, she just got fired. People say things to get noticed in today's wonderful age of social media and outrage culture. *IF* (and I'm not accusing her as such) she was just trying to blast her former bosses, calling them a racist would be a very good way to try and burry them with the way society is. Unfortunately, I rarely believe anything until more information comes out about it from multiple sources. It'll be interesting to see what ends up happening and if more people open their mouths about this situation from inside the organization. -

Ugly. It'll be interesting to know how much of this is true and how much of this is disgruntled fired former employee. -
White sox active in starting pitching market
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This is were I'm at with Paxton. Guy is a stud SP when healthy, but that would be an awfully risky move to get a guy for only 2 years coming off of a 100 loss season. -

I'd love for the Sox to go after Rendon next offseason if they could land Harper this offseason.
-
I didn’t say flock. Considering there was already an abnormal amount of Cubs fans at Sox game this past year, you don’t think that would only increase with Harper?
-
That’s a flawed measurement though. That’s like saying Sox fans will never go to Wrigley or Cubs fans will never venture to Guaranteed Rate. If the Sox signed Harper, more Sox fans would attend games and Cubs fans would probably venture to the South Side to see Harper play.

Soxtalk Odds: Signing Manny or Bryce Harper November 2018 edition
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Going with the 21-30% for both. I’m more optimistic than most here. -
So the Sox setup a leak (and removed the tweet) with Harper #34 across a banner and put a jersey on the Jordan statue (though kept this to themselves) all to trick Sox fans into thinking they tried to sign Harper? C’mon, that’s ridiculous .
-
They may feel that the SP market is going to move faster than Machado/Harper. If they think they can get this done faster, then I’m ok with it - although Corbin does worry me a little for that price. I don’t think signing him will remove them from trying on the big two, might help their chances of selling either of them on the team. Going to be a hell of an offseason with all these rumors every other day!

Morosi: White Sox interested in "both Machado and Harper"
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Jose Abreu's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Harper is just as good a fit, if not potentially better than Machado. He's a power bat from the left side, and has amazing OBP instincts. That is something this team hasn't had since Thome left. It also allows the Sox to deal from their glut of OF prospects to further improve other areas of need. Either way, I'll gladly welcome either of the two, haha -
Heyman says White Sox interested in Nelson Cruz
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Sleepy Harold's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This should be the only reason to bring him in, but I really want nothing to do with Cruz. Keep him away if at all possible. He's entering his age 38 season and already showed slight signs of regression this past season. -
Rosenthal: “rival exec believe white Sox will spend big”
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to bmags's topic in Pale Hose Talk
At this point, I doubt he does. He does have a source, but keeps things closer to the chest after Hahn gave him crap for leaking moves (I think it was the Shields deal?). -
At this point, wouldn't surprise me. Both him and Machado fit into the rebuild one way or another.
-
Both? ?
-
Sox also signed Andy LaRoche...
-
Totally agree. Depends on what the Yankees are asking for, but he's exactly the type of player the Sox should look to bring in to the rotation.
-
I was gonna say... the Sox are teaching spin rate to their minor league pitchers to make their stuff more effective. A last place, stat heavy team wouldn’t be doing that.
-
I'd do the buyout. If the Sox are going to add to the rotation, I'd rather then take that money and put it towards a younger, better option for the rebuild. I know signing Patrick Corbin is a long shot, but he's the type of guy I'd like to see the Sox invest in rather than pull a Miguel Gonzalez with Shields for 2019.
-
I was thinking about this the other day. He did start throwing the curveball again earlier in the year. I wonder if that had something to potential cause this to fully come around. I know that pitch generally is supposed to be hard on the arm, so I wonder if he'll continue throwing it once he comes back.

What do you expect from Rodon, Lopez and Giolito in 2019?
CWSpalehoseCWS replied to Jack Parkman's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Rodon 6.5 - The lack of K's really worries me, because he's always been a high strikeout guy. I'm willing to give him a pass and chalk it up to being off for so long with the injury he had at the start of the year. He really needs to step up big time and prove he can be the leader of this staff while staying healthy all year. Lopez, 6.5 - I'm pretty sure I picked Lopez to be the Sox biggest disappointment earlier in the year, so I'm pretty happy with the results he's shown this season. I think he's proving he can stick in the rotation, but near the back end. Giolito, 5.5 - I honestly don't know what to make of him yet, but it's nice to see him have moments of success after such a abysmal start. He reminds me so much of Gavin Floyd. -
His passion for the game and the Sox was the best thing about him. When the Sox lost, he suffered that loss with you. You don't see that anymore in announcing these days.
