Exactly.

That’s my point, why repeat something if Cruz is Sox bound? Clearly he doesn’t know as much as he’s led on.

No Sox mention.

If you want to throw more onto this, pretty sure international travel now requires a negative covid test and a 7 day quarantine. For fun, say he agreed in principle on Monday, I'm uncertain on how things are there, but it might legitimate take a while for him to travel here (assuming he has to do the physical here and they can't make an exception).

Yes, and it seems like most people are leaning towards him going back to Japan.

I doubt it's that high. He made $14.5M in 2019, and was supposed to make $12M last season. I don't think we see a raise. Hopefully it would be closer to $10M, or I have no idea how they are going to fill out the rest of the roster barring a trade of some sort.

What kind of food is a "Leo"?

Absolutely. Too many people deal with absolutes.

Wow. I mean, he's not exactly backing down there, hahaha. Sox actually signing Cruz seems like a massive shift from what we've heard over the past month.

Unless they are confident they can acquire a cheap SP via trade. I doubt it too, just trying to think of how going out and spending $10+ on Cruz would logically make sense with obvious holes still on this roster.

This is going to be funny when it's an official Vera signing announcement.

Not entirely true. This is two years old, but provides a good analysis of how guys perform after the diagnosis. It’s not a good thing. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/phil-hughes-and-the-sobering-history-of-thoracic-outlet-injuries/- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
I hate that. Puts a lot of pressure for Kopech to come back with zero issues. Plus he’ll be on an innings limit. Just sign a guy with the expectation to stay as the #4 the whole season. If Kopech is ready, he’ll force the issue.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
If the Sox sign Archer, I’ll throw up. The injury he’s returning has a history of ending pitchers careers. He won’t make it through 162 game season.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Worrying about your payroll 4+ years out is how you end up with only 6 postseason appearances in 39 years of ownership. Amazing 25 other teams can figure out how to to hand out $100M+ contracts to players and make it work.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
I think this is definitely it. They are trying to get a cheap, under control, and high reward guy they long wanted while giving up assets that won't immediately impact the current window. I don't think they will get him unless Hahn caves. The Brewers have no need to trade him at this time. If JR would open his pocket books, I could probably stomach trading Vaughn if they went out and got a guy like Ozuna to hold down DH.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
People also forget that Kopech went through a divorce while expecting a child. I won't pass judgement on him, as it certainly seemed like there were some person issues going on around the time the season started to ramp back up. Add that into an uncertain role and concerns with his post TJ return, I don't blame him for taking the time off. My biggest concern is the lack of track record of guys taking this much extended time off and living up to their potential. I honestly can't think of anyone in a similar past situation having success. Last thing I want is for the Sox to have their own version of Alex Reyes on the team.- FS Podcast: Ben Badler of Baseball America
Finally was able to give this a listen. This was excellent.- J.A. Happ to the Twins
Great move for the Sox.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
I’m pretty convinced it’s all the same person. It’s also possible that they very well could get an occasional bit of legitimate info. They obviously inject their own opinion into things though to keep things interesting and the rumor relevant. There’s no way the Sox would allow the amount of info they claim to have leak at the rate it does. I’m just surprised at the amount of people that believe whatever they tweet as gospel. I enjoy the rumors strictly as something to pass the time, but I totally doubt their legitimacy.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
And of course the foodies rolled back their claim, saying that the Sox had shifted gears and Q’s price dropped. I tend to not believe the Sox were in on him as much as it was suggested. They could have matched $8M and I bet Q had an interest in returning. Q’s agent would have absolutely checked back in with the Sox at $8M.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
I lean towards LaStella. He's essentially a left handed Madrigal with more pop. Dude walks a ton too. Might have some pull too with his supposed relationship with LaRussa. If not him, I'd entertain the thought of checking in on Semien and his willingness (or unwillingness) to move to 2B.- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
Sign a 2B since you just traded your's away, hahaha- the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
There's no way that's enough. I think if the Sox aren't moving Vaughn, Kopech, Crochet, (maybe) Cease, then Kelley has to be the big piece. - the old Corbin Burnes thread, we have a new Burnes thread
