  1. He's their prize of the farm. Should be a top 10 prospect this time next year. Mayea could be had. He's got a great skillet too, just not to the point of Arias. Arias is the yankees best prospect.
  2. There's no chance cashman trades Arias. I think you could pry LaLane from them though.
  3. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 9, 2017 -> 06:27 PM) Clint Frazier would make a nice headliner for Chris Archer. Yanks and Giants match up well for a trade of bad contracts. Yanks could use another SP ( Jeff Samardzija ) and the Giants could use upgrades in the corner OF ( Brett Gardner ) and 3B ( Chase Headley ) positions. LOL what? Gardners contract is not a bad contract, if anything Ellsbury for Samardzija and hope Rothchild can bring some of that magic back to him.
  4. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:06 PM) Jon, I don't see what is so special about those two Yankee prospects, considering how valuable Shark should be to any contender. Just going by stats, of course. Well Gary Sanchez is only 22 years old and putting up rather great power numbers for his league and park. His defense is getting better too. The only knock on him is his attitude and yeah his defense. He's got a good bat, but he just needs to mature a little more and round out the rough edges on him. I personally as a Yankee fan wouldn't trade him straight up for Samardzija. I'd rather save him for another trade. No offense to Samardzija, but I think see how he would improve the Yankees current pitching. Yeah CC sucks, but he's not going anywhere. Tanaka is healthy for now. Pineda and Nova are better options than him. Eovoli is alright, hes basically replaced AJ Burnett. Good one game, bad the next, but we have Servino in the minors and Warren and Mitchell in the bullpen who could be starters. I'd deal Eric Jagielo off though. He's got some great power and he's an advanced hitter. I think he's generally overrated, while Sanchez is underrated in regards to prospects enthusiasts.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 02:35 PM) Is this a joke, or is there a Rob Lowe who is someone? He's from Tommy Boy and St Elmo's Fire.
  6. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:32 PM) Floyd to the Red Sox for Ranaundo and Alex Wilson or Floyd to the Pirates for Jeff Locke, Zack Von Rosenberg, and Bryan Morris or Floyd to the Jays for Wojo and Roberto Osuna KW has shown he is going to bring back pitching in any deal he makes and wants guys that are ready/near reaady to contribute. The one exception would be Osuna if Paddy can talk KW into taking a chance on a project. That's sick. Ranaudo? Andrew Brackman V2. Wilson is nice tho, I could see him as a nice bullpen option.
  7. QUOTE (southside hitman @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 12:29 PM) Bidding war between BJ's and Sox? Any interesting Red Sox prospects? I admit I don't know a lot of their system Sox have probably the 10th best system in baseball. As a Yankee fan I say they don't get enough credit, it's not as good as the Yankees but they're stacked in the lower system.
  8. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 18, 2012 -> 11:49 AM) Brandon Jacobs would be a nice pickup for the Sox I really like Jacobs, but if I'm kenny williams and everyone besides the 2011 draftees and Xander is in play I go for Garin Cecchini. He's going to be a very good hitter, Jacobs is an athlete but theres numerous knocks on him, one is even though he's so fit he's a horrible defender for a guy like him. He's numbers are also skewed. I do like Jacobs though, my favorites going into the season were Xander, Jacobs and Cecchini. They've since added Barnes and Swihart as well. Why do you want Larvanway? He makes Montero look like a gold glover.
  9. QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 09:40 PM) Verducci Effect? 139 IP in the minors, then jumped to 171 in the majors. thats actually on par with the non abuse points. Well 2 innings more. The M's really watched him and his pitch count he never went over 110 and rarely over 100.
  10. When I first saw it was Pineda for Montero I was kind of meh to it. When I saw we got Campos too... wow it was funny cause on Thursday I read the scouting on him after seeing him in a top 50 prospect list. "fastball like a 24 year old Verlander.... command like a 36 year old Maddux" My eyes lit up. I checked out his stats and he dominant SS ball, although it's just SS the numbers combined with the scouting report how he's so mature he picks up his players when they make a mistake, gosh it's great to have him. I loved Noesi and Montero though. It's a good deal for both teams, hurts to give up those guys but it's great to get some pitching. You've got to think Cashman isn't done yet.
  11. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jan 13, 2012 -> 08:01 PM) You gotta figure the Red Sox HAVE to get a SP now. Floyd maybe? Roy Oswalt would be my guess. On a side note I wouldn't mind a AJ and Felicaino for Dunn and Thorton(plus a little cash) deal.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 14, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) Signing a boatload of suck worked for the Yankees last year. Garcia and Colon had a track record of being good at one time though. Padilla had four months, Silva had a year about 6 years ago and Cook, idk what happened to him.
  13. QUOTE (hi8is @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 05:10 AM) Let's recap... shall we? After the San Diego Padres pull off a 4 for 1 swap of Ace starting pitcher Matt Latos with the Cincinnati Reds, the trade market is starting to heat up. The bar for starting pitching looks to be set high in that the Reds gave up not only Alonso, but also a nice trio in Grandal, Volquez, and Boxburger. So, in addition to the Reds - who else may have interest in Danks or Floyd? Let's see... 1.) Rangers 2.) Yankees 3.) Red Sox 4.) Blue Jays 5.) Washington 6.) Mets 7.) Marlins 8.) Orioles Take one off that list with Darvish and the Jays. So, that's 7 teams that are bidding on 2 LPH's in Danks and Gio. Floyd is one of a few attractive options from the right. Oh and it seems that the Reds actually may still want more pitching. Sit tight folks. Mets? They aren't going anywhere and actually looking to trade there best pitcher, Niese who isn't even that great. There's also Oswalt and Jackson. One of Jackson and Oswalt need to sign soon, that will really help clear up the market.
  14. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 11:13 PM) But then there are 6-8 "mid tier" teams who will be competing next year and might not be able to afford paying Danks $7-8 million for the full season but could definitely swing that contract for just two months....where he might emerge as that one additional starter to put them over the top, particularly a team bereft of lefties. Danks, arguably, had his worse season since 2007 with us. KW has to also be considering that he is likely to pitch better in 2012 and bring his value up to where it belongs in the minds of most scouts and GM's. Like I just said if you move danks midway through the season he wont get a new team comp picks if that happens you wont get much for him, unless he's the best pitcher in baseball but even then you might get a betances like prospect.
  15. QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Dec 18, 2011 -> 07:29 AM) I disagree. There is a very good chance we will get compensation with Danks, but not Quentin. In order to get compensation in the new CBA is you have to offer them arbitration and they take the average salary of the TOP 125 players. MLB is saying next year that will come out to 14 million for the year. Danks will not accept arbitration because he would be leaving at least additional 50 million on the table. Too risky for a pitcher. Sox then would get 2 compensation picks. Nah I mean a trading team. if you trade him after the start of the season he wont be able to get his new team comp picks.
  16. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Dec 16, 2011 -> 10:22 PM) Until we know for sure on Tuesday, when Nippon accepts the bid, I won't expect any movement from other starting pitchers. It's bull they get to drag this on for so long. Teams don't need freaking 3 business days or like 6 days to say oh well yeah we'll accept $60 million for this guy. Blue Jays are getting to be a sick team tho. Sucks that theres four teams in the AL East who will be good and then theres the O's haha
  17. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 03:10 PM) Not a chance. That is way more than the Yankees would give up for one year of Danks. If that deal was ever offered, I would drive them to NY myself. If the Yanks offered Betances/Noesi and Sanchez they should take that immediately. If the Yankees were willing to include Betances it would be something like Betances, Romine, and a couple mid tier prospects. NY could get Gio for the package that you proposed. I could see if Danks was 24 and was under control for 4 years at undermarket price, but yeah Danks is a f/a next year... The CBA kind of screws you too. If Danks is dealt during the season teams won't get comp picks for him and GMs aren't dumb, or well some arent. they know this and will exploit it.
  18. QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 11:53 AM) I could see the Sox trading Danks/Thornton to the Yankees for Sanchez, Noesi, Betances and Mason Williams... There's zero chance of that... that deal is about as good as the one that got Latos... Williams is untounchable, same as Montero and Banuelos. Betances isn't as untouchable as some Yankee fans like to think. Yankees basically have five guys that aren't going to be moved, Santana, Williams, Sanchez, Montero and Banuelos, unless its for a special player. Noesi is touching 98 mph as well. Let's just say Cashman agrees to this deal, it would never happen cause I would find Cashman and I would murder him. But yeah Cashman already told teams Williams is untounchable, there were several articles around the GM meetings about it.
  19. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Dec 17, 2011 -> 01:52 PM) Writers seem to think opposite from HugeUnit, saying that huge haul is what's gonna take to get pitching this season and all of a sudden Kenny high asking price doesn't seem so high. That's one less team looking for pitching. It would be different if Danks was under control for several years. What happens when texas lands garza or gio and nats get oswalt or jackson?
  20. If you keep waiting all you're going to do it shoot yourself in the foot, danks and floyd lose interest as each team fills a need. There's a lot of pitching out there. Garza, gio, your two pitchers, jackson, oswalt. Red sox, yankees, rangers and nats looking for pitching and the marlins but let's face it there farm system couldnt even get them guthrie.
  21. QUOTE (103 mph screwball @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 12:33 PM) Thanks for your first hand report on Betances. I had never heard of him. I'm hoping for the Sox to get good value from a trade when dealing Danks. Perhaps the Yankees can be given the opportunity to work out an extension with Danks. You're welcome. I enjoy the minors more than the majors actually. Thats why I got into this stuff. Betances would be good value, it's just I see Cashman doing everything to not trade him, but the Yankees won't extend Danks. KW will not trade Danks until Darvish is finished. Once the winner of Darvish is named then you'll see KW shop Danks... Assuming KW is smart. haha
  22. QUOTE (Greyone @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 12:21 PM) And you know absolutely nothing on what the Yankees will give up. Danks has the ceiling of being the Yanks second best pitcher tomorrow. With the Yanks offence he could be better than CC. He has had zero run support, and has had no luck with the Sox the past two years. I totally dislike folks who deal in absolutes, you know as much as everybody else, unless you work for the Yankees. Well first everyone knows Brian Cashman will not trade Montero or Banuelos for anyone but Felix or Kershaw or somoene along those lines, a true legit 100% no question about it ace pitcher. I'm not saying straight up either but in a package for a guy like that. So I do know he's not going to give up either of those guys. I do work within the scouting department tho, I'm not saying I have Brian Cashman or DO on my speed dial or even Mark Newman. It's just Brian Cashman doesn't go about his business like that. He doesn't make a trade unless that doesn't make sense. As for Hamels yeah they're obviously waiting on him... Thats why they're not going to extend Danks if they get him. Plugging Danks into the rotation now and filling that spot with Hamels next year. The YES Network is in the process of going national soon, maybe within four or five years. That will mean basically a freaking TON of money, maybe $300 million extra a year.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) Well, he did say "had" the three best players in the division. Oh my bad still Butler had a good season last year and didn't Alex Gordon as well? I'm not too certain about Gordon tho.
  24. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 04:31 AM) And the Tigers essentially had the 3 best players in the division, with Verlander, Cabrera and an unbeatable closer in Valverde for the entire year. DUDE. Mauer, Masterson, Kipnis, Butler and tons of the Royals other young studs are better than Valverde. This guy is so overrated it blows my mind. The only stat he's good at is the Rippings your shirt out of your pants at the end of the game stat.
  25. QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 12, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Will everyone be happy if Kenny did land this Betances guy for John Danks? How good is Betances? I've seen Betances pitch often. He's the type who could be very good or very bad. Something along the lines of Daniel Cabrera. Huge pitcher, huge stuff, control problems. Daniel Cabrera was a really highly thought of prospect cause he had stuff that was just awesome. If Dellin can harness some control you could be looking at a right handed Randy Johnson as a ceiling or a Daniel Cabrera floor. Wide range there I know but I like Betances, he's a home grown guy from right here in Brooklyn, grew up a Yankees fan. Went to David Wells perfect game and all. I hope we hold onto him. At the most and I don't mean to s*** on Danks here, cause I've dreamed of him coming to the Yankees for the past year and a half... well dream is an overstatement but I think/hope you understand what I mean, but Dellin is the most you'll get out of the Yankees. The Yankees would trade Betances before they trade Noesi too. Noesi is throwing 96, touching 98 in winter ball. The FO views him as better than Nova as well. As for Dellin, you'd be trading Danks for a guy who has a 10% chance at being a star and that right there is worth it in the end if you know anything about how it works. IMO if the Yankees and White Sox trade it will be a package of three guys and none of those three nor Williams or Sanchez will be moved.
