  1. Forty years ago today, UCLA won their 88th consecutive game with a 66-44 win over Iowa. That same day, one of my father's co-workers offered him a ticket to that Saturday's UCLA @ Notre Dame game because his wife didn't want him driving over 1½ hours to South Bend in the middle of winter.
  2. More or less difficult than sentence structure in thread titles?

    Versatile guy that Springsteen.
  4. http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...ign-jose-abreu/ White Sox were #5 on Balder's list for signing Abreu, so clearly the Tigers are going to get Tanaka.
  5. A composite ranking so far from 16 responses. I assigned #1=10 points down to #10=1 point. For consistency's sake, I want ahead and assigned Abreu as #1 to the couple of people who didn't think he was a prospect and bumped everybody else down one notch, because he technically qualifies as a prospect and I think we all agree he should be #1. 1. Abreu 160 points 2. E Johnson 139 points 3. Davidson 129 points 4. Semien 98 points 5. Hawkins 84 points 6. Anderson 82 points 7. Beck 54 points 8. Danish 37 points 9. M Johnson 35 points 10. Webb 22 points 11. Sanchez 17 points 12. Thompson 13 points 13. Barnum 4 points 14. May 3 points 15. Bassitt 2 points T-16. Snodgrezz/Zapata 1 point

  7. http://www.wsbt.com/news/local/report-acti...4z/-/index.html Three people, including the shooter, killed last night at a grocery store that is 2 miles from my mom's house.

Perhaps references to an obscure 60s/70s band is not the best way to keep this thread going.
  9. Jeopardy contestants are generally pretty sharp and rarely cause me to facepalm, but tonight, this clue elicited a response of, "Who is Ellen Degeneres?"
  10. What soxtalk record for posts in a thread about a free agent before he actually signs?
  11. She's #4 on my list of chicks I'd like to bang, right behind Kate Upton, Kate Upton and Kate Upton.
  12. I was thinking more along the lines of Brey having 5 Top five finishes in the last 7 seasons in the Big East but only one NCAA tournament win in that time span. Not a perfect comparison, but they are both coaches who have had far more regular season success compared to postseason.
  13. Bo Ryan is the Big Ten's version of Mike Brey, except that Brey has even less tournament success than Ryan.
  14. I don't know anybody who went to the University of Indiana, but then I've never spent much time in central Pennsylvania.

Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" is playing in my head right now.
  16. By having your posts per page set too low.
  17. Once for me also: 11/29/94. Notre Dame hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to beat Indiana. It wasn't at all planned. It was purely spontaneous.

  20. Don't know about a preference, but he played in Japan's Pacific League, which uses a DH. He only has 42 career plate appearances in 7 seasons, with only 3 hits, no walks, and 4 sac bunts.
  21. Those are relievers, and not even closers at that. I'd be shocked if Coop hasn't been asked for input on whether or not to give a starting pitcher $100M+.
  22. If Coop thinks it's worth bidding big money for this guy, then I trust his judgment, and I doubt that Hahn/Reinsdorf are going to throw that kind of money at him without Coop's blessing.
