If you're stuck in that much traffic, then one or more of the following things needs to happen: 1) Existing road needs more lanes, 2) New road needs to be built along a different route to diffuse traffic, 3) Area needs better public transit system to clear some of the local traffic off the roads. The answer to sitting in traffic for 2 hours is not to let you work two hours longer. Very few people work as much as or more than 70 hours in 8 days. It's just more noticeable in your line of work because you are not at home when you aren't working and there is a lot of time left over after work + sleep. Again, the answer isn't just to work more.

I know nothing about the electrical grid stuff so I can't answer that one. Our rail network, while fantastic for commercial use, is terrible for passenger use. Rail is by far the most efficient means of moving people at distances up to 300 miles, yet we are all driving/flying those distances because passenger rail travel outside the Bos-NY-Phi-Bal-DC corridor is worthless. It's absolutely insane that people fly to Chicago from Minneapolis/Detroit/Cleveland/St. Louis/Indy for reasons other than connecting to an international flight. Of course, the net result is that, while we have a fantastic network of roads, the roads themselves are in need of serious repair/expansion, because many are reaching the end of their life cycles. A major investment by the government in infrastructure would do wonders for this country. Of course, there would need to be an elimination of a lot of pet pork projects and other spending in order to make this happen, so it's very unlikely to happen.

I'm not telling you that you shouldn't work hard. You definitely should work hard--especially at trying to understand what I'm saying.

I was taught to golf right handed because you couldn't find a set of used left-handed junior golf clubs anywhere. Of course this was before Ebay/Craigslist, so it would probably be easier today.

So the problem is that the government overregulates your work hours, and not that the government isn't building a better road that allows you to drive much farther in 2 hours? Got it.

My Dad was an All-State lefty pitcher in high school. Went to a small D3 college nearby (one ss2k is very familiar with). Had ML scouts watching him pitch when he blew his arm out. He was finished. Figuring that I might have inherited some of his talent (I'm also a lefty), I started throwing when I was 6. Where I lived ages 7-8 were t-ball thus no pitchers but I still kept working with my Dad. Then, my Dad got a new job and we moved to a new town. In the new town, all the little league teams had established pitchers (established pitchers = kids of the coaches). I played for two years and never got a chance to pitch in a game. At age 10 I quit baseball forever.

At this point, could anybody believe that Dave Toub isn't worth at least double whatever he makes?

Sox to Make Hard Push for Granderson

I'm not even sure I'm on board with giving up the 2nd rounder to get McCann. Wait a year, hopefully the team will earn something worse than a top 10 pick, and then sign a couple free agents next offseason. If you give up that 2nd round pick to sign somebody now, it's because you're expecting to make the playoffs in 2014 and that doesn't seem terribly realistic. -
Yes, I'd been hoping that any major free agent signing would be front-loaded. Don't have too much money tied up in 2015+ when contending is more realistic.

The NSA can confirm this.

The whole "completing the catch" rule needs to get a serious workover. There was a similar play in the Texans-Colts game last night with the same result.

Is the entire $10M bonus paid up front? In other words, is he actually getting $17M for 2014?

Well, the problem in this case was that of course his blood/DNA was there because he lived there and he is also the one who discovered the crime scene and he claimed to be hugging his wife's dead body as he phoned for help, but the bigger issue was the state's decision not to pursue the other blood/DNA found at the scene during the first trial.

Sometime between the first and second convictions, a different man was arrested and convicted of the murders. During the husband/father's second and third trials, the state alleged that he was also in on it as part of a conspiracy. There were a lot of shady dealings on the part of the prosecution that leads many to believe they had it in for him, but there are still a large number of people who firmly believe he's gotten away with it.

The site needs a "Buy It Now" button. It did wonders for eBay.

OK, I get what you're saying. I guess as I'm looking at it from the standpoint that we are going to spend X on employee benefits and then what we have left in the budget goes to employee salaries, so the amount that you spend on an employee's benefits is independent of their salary.
-
I don't necessarily see how everybody paying the same amount benefits the higher paid employees. They are not getting better coverage for their money.

Rubio may be the R's only chance, but the Tea Party very closely watches every single thing every candidate says or does. It's going to be hard for any candidate to win in the primaries without taking positions that will be fatal in the general election. Hell, the Tea Party is trying to find a challenger to my Congressman, who is one of the most conservative there are, solely because of his vote in favor of the bill to reopen the government. None of the 99.999% of votes he made previously matter anymore.
-
That's a very odd system. Most places I've heard of, the employer pays a fixed percentage of insurance premiums for all full-time employees, regardless of salary.
-
I would think there have to be laws against sports books making bets other places. Otherwise everybody would be doing this.
-
Depending on the size of the company, it can make a big difference. Bigger employers get good deals from insurance companies to provide coverage to their employees. If I give employees $1000 more in salary instead of $1000 worth of health insurance, the employees are not going to get anywhere as good of coverage for that $1000 buying it on their own than they are going to get by me spending that $1000 for them.

Where's the pronunciation guide that instructs everybody to emphasize 'THE' like they have some kind of short man's syndrome?
