  1. So the overdramatic emphasis on 'THE' was written into the name back in 1878?
  2. At least we don't have to stick 'THE' in front of our name in order to sound important.
  3. Why the f*** are you wasting time and money conducting the study if you aren't going to use a sample size large enough that the results can be statistically significant????
  4. I do believe that people 18 and older are legally allowed to change their names.
  5. Today is the 100th anniversary of the most significant game in the history of college football.
  6. I don't want anybody who spells Chris with a 'Kh'
  7. Unless Gavin signs a minor-league deal (which I don't see happening), he can't stay in the minors until June. He's long since been out of options and there's a time limit on how long a major league player can rehab in the minors.
  8. Hillary is a lock to win in 2016 (unless some Democrat makes a strong primary challenge) because the Tea Party will ensure that an absolutely unelectable candidate wins the Republican primary.
  9. Needs more than Abreu to do what? Compete this year? I don't think there's enough out there in FA to make that happen, and if next year's FA class is better, then wait for it.
  10. Can we not have both? Can't we have a system where everybody gets basic coverage, but those with means can get better coverage.
  11. If nobody is watching it, is it really still on?
  12. Here are the nationally available options for Federal employees for 2014: http://www.opm.gov/healthcare-insurance/he...npostal-ffs.pdf Not accounting for the part the employer pays, individual plans range from $360-701 per month and family plans range from $781-1652 per month. I don't know what kinds of prices people are being forced to pay on the national or state exchanges. If it's higher than the $360 self or $781 family plans here, then I think it's fair that everybody should get these options as well. $360/month is not a ridiculous amount to pay for health insurance, and if you can't afford that then you probably qualify for some sort of subsidy.
  13. Toronto interested in a Sox pitcher who has already been injured. How could that possibly go wrong?
  14. I think we're all saying Lawrie is one piece in the return package. Certainly not the entire package and maybe not even the best piece. Also, there's no way the Sox are going to eat money on Danks' contract unless they're getting a really top notch prospect in return. Even with the Abreu signing the Sox are not hurting for funds.
  15. Except that $20 spent on parking is more profit for the Sox than $10 spent on parking and $10 spent on food, so there is no real incentive for the Sox to give parking discounts.
  16. If nothing else, Lawrie has 2 years less experience and it will cost less to have him fail.
  17. Places to stick him for 2014: 1) In a trade 2) On the nontender list
  18. Yeah, this has been my beef for a long time. Individually, none of AJ, Viciedo, or Alexei are necessarily bad players, but putting them together in a lineup created massive problems.
  19. Yes it does, because: 1) The shutdown dominated the news cycle for 17 days, which delayed news like this from coming out, which delayed the process of fixing this. 2) Regardless of the accuracy of the claims, negative statements about the Administration are taken with a grain of salt due to the overwhelming unpopularity of Republicans in Congress.
  20. To think, if the Republicans had just passed CR/debt ceiling bills in September instead of shutting down the government until October 17, we could have been discussing this three weeks ago and be well down the path to fixing it. Plus, the Republicans would have had more credibility behind their complaints.
  21. Yes, they play each other in December, and even if they didn't, they would both have to win the NCAA Tournament to go undefeated, which is not possible. As of now, 2% have voted for that option. EDIT: I guess I wasn't the only one who noticed this. They've since fixed the poll and removed "Both" as an option.
  22. The local newspaper has an online poll this morning: "Do you think either Louisville or Kentucky basketball will go 40-0 this season?" A. Neither team will B. Only UK will C. Only UL will D. Both will Anybody see a problem with any of the choices???
  23. Even if Dunn is gone, what is the argument for having Paulie at 1B/DH over moving Viciedo there and upgrading in the OF?
