  1. You can offer arbitration, which is based upon the previous year's salary, but in order to get a draft pick in return you have to offer at least $13M, so there is no way that happens. Only player the Sox might get a draft pick for is Peavy. There is no reason not to make him a $13M offer if they don't work out a deal before the offer deadline.
  2. I don't even know what to say about this: http://t.news.msn.com/pop-culture/ny-polic...ook-eat-women-1
  3. Notre Dame does this too. If your season tickets are swept up in a scalping arrest, you lose your tickets permanently.
  4. Will the South American teams still send their 'A' squads with the games being played farther away? A Brazil/Argentina/US/Mexico semifinal round would be amazing.
  5. Ron Washington chose to start Verlander over Sale. It's his fault the Tigers are losing the WS. The fans voted in Prince Fielder over Konerko. It's their fault the Tigers are losing the WS.
  6. Unless you have an incredible combination of luck and skill in the draft, a baseball team is going to have average players at some positions. Given the scarcity of availability of above average 2B, I don't see a lot of options here.
  7. Peavy can't be traded. He isn't under contract unless the Sox pick up his $22M option, in which case nobody would want to trade for him.
  8. There is a chance that a hurricane coming from the south, a line of storms coming from the west, and an arctic front coming from the north all converge in the NYC area next week. Should be some fun stuff.
  9. I'm fine with ditching the other stuff, but the bouncing hot babes can stay. If you don't like them, you can send them to my seat.
  10. I think calling Michigan a swing state is very optimistic for Romney, and apparently one person thinks nobody will win Nevada.
  11. It's an interesting paradox, because Beckham is better batting 2nd, yet a .291 OBP from the 9th spot probably hurts a team less than a .305 OBP from the 2nd spot.
  12. I never knew that before. My inclination is always to buy tickets early, but now I know that I may get better seats by waiting.
  13. And I'm saying that the below average offensive line caused the sack, because a good offensive line wouldn't have needed the extra help and there would have been 2 more receivers in the pattern.
  14. It also costs more to have all the employees working extra hours.
  15. I agree on the second one. Since I live out of town and have to drive to games, it would be nice to be able to park 3-4 hours before the game. Other than that, I'm probably the wrong person to ask. I'm there to watch a baseball game. I don't really care about the food selection, what music is playing, what the entertainment is, or any of that stuff. I think it's sad that people need to be entertained at a baseball game, but I guess that's how society is now.
  16. Well, for one thing, you get better seats when you buy season tickets, plus who wants the headache of buying tickets 81 different times?
  17. I guess if you think below average is acceptable, there's not much more I can say.
  18. I will release my transcripts for a $5M donation to charity, and I'll only take 5% in administrative fees.
  19. There aren't 'alternative players' you can get for that money that will be any better and yes, it would shock me if he hit .170 next season. Not only did Dunn get worse due to his own ailments, but he got worse when his protection behind him in the order went downhill in the second half.
  20. They're coverage sacks because a back and/or TE have to stay in to help the O-line block and there aren't a full complement of receivers running routes.
  21. I know pregnancy makes them bigger, but THAT much bigger? I sure don't remember my wife's getting that much bigger during either pregnancy, because if they did, I'd sure be wanting to get her pregnant again.
  22. Stop comparing the 2012 Adam Dunn and start making more relevant comparisons: Even with the injury, the 2012 Adam Dunn had an OPS that was 231 points higher than the 2011 Adam Dunn. Even with the injury, the 2012 Adam Dunn had an OBP that was only one point below Rios, a little bit better than AJ, and a lot better than Viciedo, Beckham, and Ramirez. I get that Dunn isn't producing like we expect for somebody with his salary, but the reality is that the 2013 Sox are worse without him than with him, unless there is some really dumb GM out there that will make some insane kind of deal. Yes, you can probably unload him and most or maybe even all of his salary, but that isn't going to make the team better in 2013.
  23. Bears current NFL ranks: 1st in scoring defense at 13.0 1st in turnover differential at +13 1st in interceptions with 14 1st in opposing QB passer rating at 62.7 T-1st in least penalty yardage with 219 (Carolina) 2nd in point differential at +84 (Houston +88) 2nd in defensive rushing yards per game at 71.3 (San Diego 71.2) 2nd in opponent yards per passing attempt at 6.1 (San Francisco 5.9) 2nd in opponent average yardage per completion at 10.1 (Minnesota 10.0) 2nd in opponent punt return average at 4.6 (Dallas 3.4) 3rd in win pct. at .833 (Atlanta 1.000) 4th in opponents 3rd down conversion rate at 29.2% (Miami 25.8%) T-5th in sacks with 21 (Green Bay 24) 6th in defense total yards per game at 299.3 (San Francisco 272.3)
  24. I know it's not a funny story, but seeing those two lines made me chuckle.
