  1. These rankings are silly. I've watched ND play several times. They are nowhere near a #14 team. They are a 10-seed at best. RPI #91.
  2. Since the Sox have options at 2B, they don't NEED him as much as other teams and I imagine other teams will offer him more money than the Sox would (or should). The only way he ends up on the Sox is if the rest of the market dries up. Would take a gamble on him in the $3-5M range, but he's probably going to get more than that elsewhere.
  3. Sox aren't going to give 5-8 mil to a platoon guy, and I'm not sure who he platoons with, since the 3 OF are all pretty much full-time players. I think at this point, the only position left to fill is a RH infielder.
  4. Here's the better rule: You offer a scholarship, that scholarship counts against your limit for 3 years, regardless of how long the player stays, unless he transfers. Prevents Kentucky from hoarding all the one and done's. They have to offer some scholarships to 3 and 4 year players.
  5. Only one more hour of work until I am off for four days.
  6. Well, when he told me, "Don't spot the ball there, you f***ing idiot," I understood him pretty clearly.
  7. I know he can get on your nerves, but he's still my favorite.
  8. No, you're getting it all wrong. That isn't really a gun on the video. You can't be 100% sure, or even 99.9999% sure that was a gun so we have to give the kid the benefit of the doubt. The gun found at the scene was planted by the cops to help justify the random murder of an innocent black kid. And even if it was a gun and it was pointed at the cop, the cop has no business firing first. Maybe the kid was going to put the gun down. The cop should never fire at any black person unless that person has fired at the cop first. Otherwise, the cop is just murdering the kid because he hates black people.
  9. In an ideal situation, you wouldn't have to count on Rodon for anything, but the Sox were a 89 loss team with a mediocre at best farm system. There aren't enough resources to pay/trade for enough talent to make this a contending team in 2015 without a significant contribution from Rodon. Given the relative ages/experience of Sale-Quintana-Rodon, 2016-2017 is really the most likely time frame for contending.
  10. Open it back up, someone will.
  11. LaRoche is not going to have a platoon partner. You don't pay a guy $25M to be a platoon player. Yes, I know he's awful vs LHP but you just deal with that because of the tradeoff of how good he is vs RHP. Now, if you're smart, you have him batting farther down in the order vs LHP, but if anybody on the roster is a target for a platoon situation it's Gillaspie, not LaRoche.
  12. C: Kottaras IF: Saladino OF: Danks Plus one more person not already on the 40.
  13. I watched a movie where really hot women have lots of sex with unattractive, overweight, bald, non-wealthy men. That was obviously a movie, but I think it may be a thing.
  14. Here we go again: http://www.stltoday.com/news/local/crime-a...5dbdc896ba.html I've already seen dozens of posts on Facebook, adamant that this kid did not pull a gun on the cop and did absolutely nothing wrong, despite:
  15. Did the release also mention the raise it's going to get for Nick Saban?
  16. Ere's a few cousins of mine who were Logansport Berries.
  17. So on July 31, 2005, I was living in the DC area and of course went to the Sox-Orioles game. Remember asking a Sox fan if they heard about any Sox trade deadline deals and he said the Sox traded for Geoff Blum. I remember saying (very sarcastically) "Geoff Blum? Well, that's it, that's the move that will put the Sox over the top."
  18. That has gotten harder to do. Teams are less willing to give up multiple picks to move up in the first round. You have to catch a break and have a player available at your pick that somebody 10+ spots farther down really, really wants.
  19. I understand that, but one of these days somebody is going to get so frustrated that it may happen.
  20. If Brantly or Kottaras work out reasonably well, catcher could be a 2-2½ WAR position for the Sox. Find the right platoon partner for Gillaspie and 3B can be that good as well.
  21. 16% of voters didn't vote for Frank Thomas. You just can't use logic with a group like that.
  22. Maybe one of these days somebody will just absolutely blindside Stafford in retaliation and then maybe that will wake him up a bit.
  23. Rodon's career ceiling is at or near the level Chris Sale is performing now, a Top 10 pitcher in all of baseball. Rodon's ceiling for 2015 is more along the lines of 160 innings of being on the level of a typical #2-3 starter.
