Totally agree Red Sox the big winner here. I’m a big fan of Jeter Downs. They needed a 2b. Verdugo 5 years, Downs, Wong, and a savings of $48 million for 1 year of Betts and Price whose a shell of himself.

I like this deal and think it will turn out in Sox favor. Mazara will only make $5.6 million, have 2 years of control, about to turn 25 years old best years are ahead of him, bats lefty which Sox needed. Walker is only 13 months younger in High A Ball, hasn't been able to hit lefties, and shown little power. I know Mazara also has had difficulties hitting lefties, but was rushed with the Rangers and I think things might click in a different environment. I know analytics have been down on him, but has a ton of upside and is definitely a need and risk the White Sox should take.

JD Martinez has 3 years and $62.5 left on his contract at Age 32. Abreu should be nowhere near that type of contract and he's 1 year older than Martinez.

Love the Grandal move bringing in a lefty at bat that gets on base that brings solid defense to help the rotation. Hate this Abreu signing. Ages 33-35 regression is a guaranteed and horrible defense at 1B and will eventually move to full time DH. Hate having one set player at DH. I like being able to rotate your DH when you have Eloy's bad defense and others needing a day off to help rest their bodies through a long season. This 3 year contract was completely Jerry leading the charge.

The only way things will change is Reinsdorf is 6 feet under and new ownership. Tired of the same broken record. It really is sad that every major league team is committed including Baltimore internationally. Pathetic
