  1. They still haven't broken their record streak of consecutive playoff losses (tied with 1986-1998 Red Sox). 13 straight, and winless since Game 1 of the 2004 ALDS. They better win in their first opportunity next time or they'll carry that burden alone. I so hope they lose, whenever it is.
  2. I remember that. I bumped into a dude on my east coast college campus wearing a Twins shirt right after that disaster. I bitterly admitted that I was a White Sox fan and that I hated the Twins. Guy wasn't even nice about it- did a Nelson Muntz laugh right in my face and walked off. Too bad I didn't see him again after Game 163. Although we ended up redeeming ourselves, I did get to share miseries with several of my friends who were Mets fans, because that team was similarly aborting a competitive season. Unfortunately for my friends, the Mets didn't recover.
  3. Yes, baseball is a business. Part of being a successful business is retention. If I treat my employees like they mean something, and like their efforts have value, and like they will advance in their careers with hard work and good attitude, I will crush it on retention. It’s vital. So I don’t get why the White Sox are acting like the only way Eloy is here in 2025 is if he doesn’t debut until mid-April of next year. We can’t build that relationship? We can’t show him that we are an awesome organization and a big, happy family? We suck THAT much?
  4. Because he’s earned the right to start earning those millions now, and Hahn is depriving him of that. I can see a parallel in my own life. I’m a high school teacher, but I have a master’s degree in educational administration from a highly regarded program in addition to military leadership experience. My school’s leaders told me they want to keep me in the classroom because I’m too valuable there. I was so disgruntled by that decision that I chose to go on another deployment instead. As far as I’m concerned, that employer is dead to me. I will spare nothing while deployed to ensure that I never return to that place in any fashion. I’m at that point over a few thousand dollars a year. How do you think Eloy feels about a few thousand a day? Edit: It was implied, but I’m trying to become an assistant principal instead of remaining as a teacher (in case it wasn’t obvious).
  5. If you read anything about him, Chicago apparently has long had a special significance for Eloy. But instead of rewarding this young man for a fantastic display since joining this organization, and having confidence that we could retain him in 2025 by simply developing a positive relationship with him and offering a competitive amount of money when the time comes, we decide to play technicalities to trap him here for the extra time. I’ll be sure to bump this post going into 2026 when we’re not even considered for Eloy’s next contract. Or when we wonder why other big names never seem to want to play for us.
  6. Perfectly shit day on the farm. Stephens getting clobbered and not a single T30 hitter has a hit yet. Forgettable.
  7. I know he doesn't miss many bats, which is concerning, but Adams isn't doing all that bad in AAA. Can we not write him off just yet?
  8. He sucks. Like, really sucks. I know it was exciting when we thought maybe we had found a diamond in the rough earlier this year, but we did not. I was totally on that optimism train too, but we really should have treated it the same way as getting one of those emails from a Nigerian prince who just needs your checking account number to access his lost fortune, which he will kindly share with you.
  9. I'm starting to think we're going to draft as low as 8th or even 9th. We're only 6 games back of the 9th pick. And frankly, I don't think I mind that. 9th gives a fair shot at a talented prospect, and we honestly have a butt load of those already. Let's start winning some ballgames and begin our streak of dominance that will last years. Even more so if Eloy comes up (which I unfortunately doubt).
  10. That would be fantastic. And he can do that. And if Kopech is anything like we think he'll be, that will make us winners in the Sale trade. But he needs to actually do it. And that means putting the ball in play more.
  11. Uh, because he's Yoan Moncada and someone taught him that taking pitches is good in and of itself, and not that it's good in that it allows you to find your pitch and KILL it.
  12. I held in a shit because of your autocorrect? Dammit.
  13. Even if the stats get ugly right here, I'm still gonna consider this a good start to this young man's career.
  14. I know people were considering an extension or resigning after last year, but the proper approach was always to wait and see what he did this year. He hasn't done anything to show us that 2017 Avi was the real Avi.
  15. Avi is such a bum. I'll be very happy when this rebuild eventually shoves him and Sanchez out of the picture. Edit: I'd include Engel, but he's barely in the picture even now.
  16. ReyRey needs to miss more bats. His peripherals suck.
  17. It's all about the Ks. Go look at some of my contributions to the Moncada thread. If he gets his K-rate down to 20% and keeps his other rates entirely the same, his OPS would be .818. Just sayin'. Also, I get the defense concerns for both, but Narvaez and Palka have both earned their spots for next year AFAIC.
  18. Yeah, it changed in that inning, but before that, every out since Goodrum in the first had been in the air. Sanchez, Anderson and Moncada still don't even have a single assist today (not that that has anything to do with Kopech's pitching- just odd).
  19. I'm not keeping track, but it seems Kopech is getting ahead of the vast majority. Good to see. And OMG, shut up Benetti. The irony of Kopech being from Mount Pleasant while being rather unpleasant from 60"6'? Shut up shut up shut up shut up
  20. He still hasn't walked anyone. So even though he has 3 HBPs, I'm not too worried about his control since that's just three bad pitches and not, say, 12.
