QUOTE (Paint it Black @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) Right. Except the next hitter singled, and would have driven in 2 instead of 1 had Paulie been able to you know, TAKE TWO BASES ON A BALL TO THE WALL. and holy small sample size batman with your OPS stat. Oh and he was out. You're delusional if you think otherwise. This. +1

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 06:44 PM) you have a tank in your avatar, so you win. this time. Mobile Gun System! Not a tank. It's a tank on wheels. It's also my ride. Also, this team sucks. DAMNIT!

I just saw an ad on TV for some new show about Ted Nugent's thoughts or some f***ing s***. As much as I agree with most of what he says, I f***ing hate that guy. You want to be some conservative, patriotic American icon? Where were you in 'Nam, motherf***er? Dude did his best to avoid that s***. 58,000 of our brothers and sisters died fighting to stop the march of communism, and Teddy b****ed out, only to go on in life and act like some sort of macho man. Get the f*** out of here, Ted. You suck.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Aug 3, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Apparently Balta has been lobbying in Pennsylvania: http://www.nypost.com/p/blogs/capitol/free...P#ixzz1TrgxELho What. The. f***. If welfare must exist at all, it should be designed to let people subsist while getting back on their feet. They should have to show consistent proof that they are seeking employment, and they should be free of drugs (and tested for it). There is no living in luxury on welfare, or living anywhere above mere subsistence levels. Not starving to death? Good. That's all you get. Free cellphones is bulls***.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 06:36 PM) if he stops at 2nd no one scores on AJ's hit. Faulty argument made in hindsight. Doesn't excuse a player's inability to go first to third on that.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) He's hurt. Can't run, can't slide, but can hit. I'll take it. Playing if he's hurt isn't going to help him get better so he can at least sort of do those first two things (at least to the crappy extent that he normally does them). I hated watching our base to base to base offense for years there with Konerko, Thome, Dye and AJ all in a row, and I don't much appreciate it now.
-
If Paulie can't go from first to third on a double, and if he can't even be bothered to slide, he needs to sit his ass on the bench. And he needs to tell Ozzie that his ass should be sitting on the bench. That's unacceptable.

I totally understand if I don't get to do this name change twice, but I think "God Loves The Infantry" would be awesome. I don't know why I didn't think of this earlier. I promise, I'll stop now.

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) And the fact that she seems to just be a gold digger. William Holden, Onassis, and the guy who owned Fiat? I never particularly respected Jackie O the way everyone else seemed to, and that was based almost exclusively on the fact that she married one of the world's wealthiest men after all of that crap. Billions of people on Earth to fall in love with, and hers just happen to be the future President (and American "royalty") and then an absurdly rich shipping baron? I don't buy it. Adding in Holden and the Fiat guy just cements it to me. I wholeheartedly agree. She didn't even contribute anything to society. She just grew up rich, her mother was also a gold digger (marrying oil heir Hugh Auchinschloss after her first husband/Jackie's father died), and once she left her mama's tit, she went on marrying rich, successful men in order to continue leading her life of comfort. Oh, but she was a fashion icon! Yeah. Some people say Michelle Obama and Paris Hilton are fashion icons too. I say they make me barf. Debutantes/socialites is what they are. I fart in their general direction. Interestingly enough, a dislike for Jackie O was my ultimate downfall at WSI.

Man, after having so many of those, "it's the second inning and we're down 4-0, f*** this, I'm gonna do something else now" games this season, it's nice to be on the other side for once.

QUOTE (The Critic @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) Booing is a reaction to bad play, not a cause of it. I'll second this.

She had retaliatory affairs? What classy behavior for the "First Lady". There was nothing honorable or presidential in how JFK behaved in his marriage, but his philandering does not excuse Jackie doing the same thing. I've been cheated on before. I didn't use that as a justification to cheat on either that person or future girlfriends. I confronted them and ended the relationship. That's the honorable thing to do. But people who cheat on their lovers simply because their lovers cheated on them are scum. Cowardly scum. Just lost a lot of respect for Jackie O.

Hyperpartisanship is threatening to destroy our country

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 08:47 AM) Sort of like this is yours: I was just pointing out that what airport they landed at did not rule out poor treatment, abuse and even troops being spat on. As for actual evidence, I wasn't there but there are plenty of eyewitness accounts of what happened. They were the victims, and by questioning them, we're simply trying the rape victim. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Aug 8, 2011 -> 07:55 AM) LOL ok. Can you be a little more overly dramatic? He suggested that things might have been exaggerated and provides evidence as to why. Evidence? He cited books that make an argument. He calls the arguments persuasive, but that's no more than his opinion. He does point out the civilian versus military airport idea, but that wasn't always the case. And even when it was, it only spared those troops from abuse the moment they touched down, and not as they tried to return to their everyday lives. There wasn't any evidence. -

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2011 -> 08:31 PM) That story has always struck me as the left wing equivalent of trying the rape victim during a trial. Agreed. Everyone realizes how bad those actions look in hindsight, and now anyone who could possibly accused of being involved wants to erase those actions from history. But it's about as effective as the USSR erasing people from photographs after said people fell out out of favor. Just own up to it already. -

Mysterious company dissolves after giving $1 million to pro-Romne

I wish this "scandal" would sink this guy. If Romney (a RINO jackass who thinks his kids didn't have to join the military because their service to their country was campaigning for him) or Palin (I refuse to see my country represented by this much of a dips***) gets the nomination, I will write Benjamin Netanyahu/Allen West on the ballot. I s*** you not. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:08 PM) Quite possible. However, my point was that I don't appreciate being called "miserable leftist scum" simply because I support public funding for abortions. I have some pretty hardcore views on abortion. And I see a lot of irony in people who support abortion calling American Soldiers "baby killers". But the main people I was referring to as "miserable leftist scum" were the ones who treated our Soldiers so horribly. If you support abortion, I will ardently disagree with you, but I won't have the supreme hatred for you that I do for those who abuse our Soldiers. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) those who choose to serve in a military of that size are in no way at fault (they're simply accepting a job that's being offered -- the problem is that there's too many jobs offered), and deserve the utmost respect. I can respect this viewpoint. -

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) I'll admit my last sentence was snotty, and I apologize for that. Apology accepted. Well then, it appears we are in the same boat. Almost every male in my family (and even some females, such as my mother who did 27 years) has been in the service, and combined with my own service, I am fiercely proud of this tradition. Nothing you've said here will ever change my diehard belief in this mission, as mad as I might get in these discussions. -

QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:51 PM) I agree that there's a special place in hell for those who denigrated our own members of the military. The way many were treated after they returned home was despicable. However, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to support Roe v. Wade and public funding for abortions. I fail to see how there's a disconnect there -- enlighten me if I'm missing something. It should be pretty obvious that we're not ever going to agree on abortion, at all, but I will at least commend you for thinking that our servicemen received despicable treatment upon returning home from Vietnam. I have my doubts that certain members of this board would disagree with their treatment. -

QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ Aug 6, 2011 -> 08:11 PM) If a cop or firefighter leaves their job, they'd probably be replaced, unless the department was overstaffed already. You wouldn't need to be replaced because the military is far larger than it needs to be. You are an unnecessary use of tax dollars. This is a stupid point. You don't know my skills as a Soldier, you're only telling me I could be dismissed without any real effect because I'm just one of many, just a face in the crowd. So I would only presume that you would tell any serviceman that his service is not needed. So where is the line drawn? If every Soldier took your advice to heart and stopped going to work, the military would cease to exist. And then we'd be defenseless. And even if the military does need cuts, you going around and telling Soldiers that they are simply wastes of tax dollars exposes the sort of low caliber individual that you are. Assuming they conduct themselves honorably, their service is something that deserves respect and gratitude, not doubt from cowardly punks who know nothing of the the troubles that they face. Wow. Your organization must be real vital to society if it hinges on one dude. Something tells me the collapse of this Fortune 8,786,369,652 company wouldn't even make the local news. You keep telling yourself that you matter, pal. -
Man, I like this De Aza guy a lot so far.
