  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 10:03 AM) 94 innings with a zero ERA is unheard of. Hopefully they can sign him and he can develop further. One thing I read once is HS kids who throw 95 usually are throwing 88 in their early 20s. But I don't know how you can not be at least intrigued with this kid. Could that have anything to do with the fact college coaches absolutely run their arms into the ground?
  2. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 7, 2013 -> 12:54 AM) Well, heres to hoping Danish can stay healthy long enough to become a RP for the Sox in 3-4 years. Or possibly become one of our starters? We got a kid with good potential, no reason to not give him a chance. He probably is a better choice than Wahl/Ziomek.
  3. Love the route we are taking with high ceiling players.
  4. Didn't like what I saw from Stanek when I watched him. Middle Infielders are a dime a dozen
  5. Astros take kris bryant sox take aaron judge
  6. here's to hoping we can get ourselves a cornerstone player just maybe? dare to hope.
  7. Assuming we are going in that direction, I'd go 2/22. Konerko retires and we move Viciedo to 1B/DH.
  8. This team is absolutely awful at the little things in baseball. You would think players that have played for so long would have situational awareness and be able to field.
  9. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ May 27, 2013 -> 04:52 PM) Is Gonzalez still a prospect at catcher? Between Phegley, Gonzalez, Blanke and Smith, somebody needs to step forward as a legit big-league catcher. Gonzalez was highly touted several years ago -- then fell off the radar Still young for AA (22). Appreciate any insight from folks who have actually seen him. I haven't seen him, but he seems to have fallen off after a few bad years. As of right now, I think Phegley is probably our best hope in any catcher in the minors (even though he is bad at defense).
  10. Konerko is not, and will not continue to hit the way he has to this point.

http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?s...mp;ymd=20130519 Beckham 3-5 DeMichele 2-4 Miles Jaye walking too many people
  12. phegley continues to rake
  13. No bias but watching the kid pitch wow. My top 5: Verlander, Kershaw, Price (when healthy), Sale, Cain Yes I would take sale/cain over strasburg.
  14. I'd rather have Aaron Judge than Anderson
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 15, 2013 -> 07:24 PM) It's like we're trying to sequester everyone here into different camps based on verbiage. Reload, rebuild, restructure, reallocate.... Fine...although if you're selling the idea of "reloading," that would infer or imply the team was near a championship level or consistent playoff winning team, like the Braves, Yankees, Cardinals, Giants, Rangers, etc. What you just described is something that the team under KW ALWAYS did, with the exceptions being the improvements in the Dominican, the addition of Paddy, the leveling of the June draft and international signing pool...all positive developments which would seem to work to the favor of the White Sox going forward. A full rebuild means trading Sale, and I don't think ANYBODY'S advocating that. A limited rebuild MIGHT mean trading Peavy, Ramirez, Rios and some of our bullpen arms if the right moves come along. It probably does NOT involve trading Santiago or Quintana unless they're 100% convinced that Johnson or another pitcher is ready to come up and contribute right away (see Daniel Hudson and resulting trade from 2010). We do have the exact same record as last year at this time. We also have to be mindful we've given the Tigers a five game head start, and there's three other teams between us and first, whereas last year, the Twins and Royals were already buried for the season at this point (well, the Royals/Sox match-ups were another story). We also know that the White Sox, if they're aren't within 5-6 games of first place in the coming months...it's going to adversely affect attendance, which will have a resultant adverse effect on our ability to take on additional payroll at the trading deadline. HOWEVER, IN THE END, MOST EVERYONE WOULD SIMPLY PREFER A COMPETITIVE 2013 TEAM OR A CLEAR ALTERNATIVE DIRECTION IF THE TEAM IS STILL UNDERPERFORMING IN TWO MONTHS. If anyone thinks that the sox will do a COMPLETE rebuild including sale/santiago/quintana/viciedo they are just flat out wrong. A white sox rebuild would include trading peavy/rios for players that will contribute sooner rather than later. We still have some young talent on this team, blowing it up completely would be ridiculous.
  16. Fold. There is not enough in FA market to put us back to where we need to be, and there won't be. I don't want Utley, or McCann. Try to trade Peavy and Rios + maybe Crain/Lindstrom to acquire some good position players. Peavy could get us a top-100 easily to a contender that is desperate.
  17. We need every bat we can get.
  18. Although he won't be there for us, Kris Bryant looks beastly. I'm excited to see what he does in the future.
  19. Great to see Johnson continue to miss bats and keep the walks low. He may be pitching his way into a couple starts for the sox in september
  20. Williams. Without a few of his bonehead moves, our core would be composed of players on the right side of 30. Granted, we may not have Sale in that case, but we'd still have Gio. But then again maybe we would have mishandled Gio and he could have blown his arm out or be terrible. who knows! we're just bad right now.
  21. QUOTE (SexiAlexei @ May 3, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) I truly believe Rose NEEDS to play Saturday to save his image. I can only imagine the types of articles and comments that will come out during the offseason if he doesn't play. He's getting all this heat right now while games are still being played. I think a combination of writers running out of things to write during the summer, and upset players not being resigned with the Bulls will lead to some ugly stories for Rose. Imagine if he doesn't play and they lose.
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2013 -> 04:38 PM) I think the balance between those factors is at the heart of player development. And I'm sure the line is fuzzy, as well as different for different players. DeMichele came in pretty experienced with 3 years at an elite baseball program (and good results there), so with him you'd guess they should take a pretty hands-off approach at first. Now that he is struggling, I'd have to think they are starting to work with him on some adjustments. Or I'd hope. Exactly. The problem is though, what do you with a player like Hawkins, some who has enormous pure raw talent. There has to be a difference between players as you said, I highly doubt Hawkins and DeMichele are treated the same, nor should they be.
  23. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 3, 2013 -> 04:01 PM) I had a similar gut reaction... but read the whole quote. It seems like he's saying, they want them to go out and play "their game", develop as they want to... but if they run into trouble, then start tweaking or making changes as needed. I think that makes sense, as opposed to trying to immediately lay down a philosophy of the organization down to a granular level. Better to let the talent show what they can do, then improve it along the way. Your right, when I re-read it I got that from it as well. Personally, I feel like the best way to do it would be a mix of both. A player obviously needs to learn on their own and learn how to make adjustments. However, I also feel that their should be some type of philosophy laid down, because in the end most of the people coaching these players have years and years of experience (whether that's a good thing or not). Being too relaxed can lead to extremely bad habits developing.
