  1. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 08:13 PM) If he can keep his pitch count down, Sale can get 15K tonight. Good, I need some fantasy points to make up for the unlikely scenario I get a W from him due to our offense.
  2. Yes, we should have kept him so we could trade him at the deadline. Him being here would have changed nothing. He can't play all positions and be our only hitter.
  3. Micah needs to perform at a higher level before he is that high. Same thing for Barnum. Walker has really hurt himself this year. Flip Hawkins and Johnson, Put Phegley #5, Sanchez #6 and then Johnson/Barnum/Walker That's my opinion though.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 03:40 PM) IMO, there is zero reason to do this. The Sox have a ton of money coming off the books this offseason and a loaded pitching staff even if Peavy is dealt including a legit #1 starter. They need help to get there. They have hard decisions to make, but they can be competitive next year. And really, Trayce is still young, still raw, and I'm going to be furious when they call him up to AAA in a couple weeks. I think the team needs to be patient with him, let him have a full year in AA, then start next year in AAA and either earn a callup or come up if someone gets hurt. If Rios isn't dealt, there will be a need for an OF after 2014. Maybe more than 1, depending on De Aza's arb schedule and if/when they give up on Viciedo. Agree. While I think that the sox need to trade some of our players, I believe there is a way to do it AND be competitive next year. Trayce being in CF means we are the Astros.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 03:32 PM) I can give several. He's under team control for a couple more years (although arb years), the Sox have no one anywhere close to ready to take over CF next year, he started out the year poorly so its plausible he could improve his numbers and value significantly by the time the offseason rolls around if a team does want to trade for him, and if someone actually gets on him and coaches him on how to stay focused, particularly working on defensive drills, that could also improve him significantly. Again, I won't say no if he's traded for a reasonable return, but there's plenty of reason to hold on him and wait for someone to meet the price. If we decide to completely rebuild and forfeit contending next year, Trayce could be in CF if he continues to hit and bring up his average.
  6. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:46 PM) The only argument might be fans would prefer to see offense compared to pitching. Now, we all know you need pitching and defense...but if you're looking at it from a revenue/business standpoint, it's difficult to prove a huge bump in attendance for Sale starts. (The other argument would be health, that Sale's more likely to go down to major surgery at some point than an everyday player, but nobody can be sure or project with 100% accuracy). For example, in Kansas City, there was always a jump of 3-5000 for Greinke starts...or, another example, Halladay in his prime for the Blue Jays when they were consistently finishing at the bottom of the standings. True. A player that plays everyday compared to once every 5 games. You also have to think about contract situations though. We have Sale cheap for a long time, Stanton won't be as easy to extend and will be $$$
  7. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 06:19 PM) You still have to show up. He's damaged goods. You will not get much for him right now. He has been relatively healthy until now. If he can come back and make a GOOD start or two before the trade deadline, that will be enough for teams to go after him.
  8. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jun 20, 2013 -> 08:40 PM) The problem is that a trade like that might get you closer to respectability or a .500 record, but you have to shoot for the stars if you're talking Sale trade partners. The biggest need we have is for a franchise superstar and cornerstone...the type of player that every fan wants to buy their jersey. Unless you're thinking 2-3 moves ahead and are going to package all those prospects for a specific player on another team, like a Mike Stanton...and you can't pull off a trade directly with the Marlins with the system that you have. personally I think a Sale for Stanton trade would be pointless. You're trading one franchise player for another on opposite sides of the ball.
  9. after tonight we'll be 1-5 in the last 6 versus the astros/twins yikes.
  10. Good to see Phegley back.
  11. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 07:10 PM) We signed Freudenberg for 175K, which is over slot. We are just 23K under budget now. Yeah we have no shot at Rodriguez. I'd be happy getting Engel.
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 18, 2013 -> 07:37 PM) Hahn said today there is a fair amount of time to turn this thing around. http://www.chicagotribune.com/videogallery...on-state-of-Sox Highly likely he is saying that so teams don't try and lowball us thinking that we are desperate. Even though it is early for trades.
  13. Most teams have their own Axelrod in the minors or someone with far more potential. Highly doubt we'd get anything for him anyway.
  14. QUOTE (TRU @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 09:27 PM) This is going to be unpopular and will never happen, but.. I would offer Chris Sale to the Rangers for Olt and Profar.. Sox would never make that deal.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Yep, Farmer and DJ made it sound like another De Aza mental mistake Not to mention the Stros fumbled around with Alexei's grounder in the 1st. Too bad he was jogging. Getting really tired of this lazy baseball attitude.
  16. When do you learn a ball caught in the fence is a dead ball? 5th grade?
  17. QUOTE (beautox @ Jun 17, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) I think we see 4 future sox in '14 before september. Flowers is on a heater right now I imagine they're going to give him all the opportunities in the world to see what they really have, so Phegley won't be coming up baring injury till Sept. I foresee Ramirez being traded at the deadline or in the offseason and if Beckham can continue to be league average I think they give him one final look at SS, with that happening and possibly a decent showing the in the second half and AFL and spring maybe just maybe Sanchez gets the start at 2B. Peavy will be moved soon and I think we see Johnson get pushed up to AAA after the ASB and breaking with the sox next season with the sox dealing Axelrod for a low floor high celing project former top prospect [mariners are littered with them]. That leaves Trayce if he continues his hot hitting i think he will finish the year in Charlotte and could push for CF after Rios gets moved in the near future. I don't think Beckham is going anywhere if we go to rebuilding mode.
  18. I either want Ventura or Martinez, since we are likely moving in a youth direction.
  19. Mike trout and jurickson profar!!! duh!!!! Kidding. I'd like to see us get a few position player prospects. I'm no expert so I have no idea. I'd love for someone like Anthony Rendon but I DOUBT that happens. A change of scenery player like Smoak might work too for a lesser player.
  20. 9.5 GB and we haven't even started playing Detroit. Yikes
  21. No phegley the last 2 days... Is he on a plane to chicago???
