  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Deng for Redd is laughable. Deng is better than Redd by a longshot already and that is before you factor in age and everything else. Nocioni and Tyrus Thomas would probably be a fair deal though for both sides, although the Bulls aren't going to acquire Redd without a plan to clear out the log-jam of 2 guards they have (ie, Hughes/Gordon/Hinrich). Well considering that Skiles didn't get along with Thomas, can't see that happening. And Milwaulkee would have 5 SF's/PF's in Jefferson, Thomas, Villenueva, Nocioni and Alexander (if they draft him) under that scenario. They'd rather dump Redd for expiring contracts I think.
  2. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 05:20 PM) For a 3, Jefferson is a pretty darn good all around player (he can score, rebound and get assists, although he does have a high TO rate). He's only averaged around 4.3 rebounds the last couple of seasons though. I'd expect more from my SF. Also has about a 1.35/1 A/TO ratio which is ok I guess. He did bounce back scoring wise last season though.
  3. QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) I think a lot of it has to do with Jay-Z trying to make room to get Lebron in 2010. I can't believe I just typed that. Ahh forgot about that. They've got to get out of Vince Carter's deal somehow then right (because he still has 1 year on his deal after 2010 IIRC). But I actually like this deal from a talent point for the Nets. Simmons was very good for the Clippers before he got hurt, and Yi could be a star in 2-3 years once he bulks up.
  4. QUOTE (jackie hayes @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:43 PM) The Clipper trade is conditional. If Mayo is there, the deal is off. Chad Ford claiming they will probably take Gordon at 4. If that happens, the Knicks get to choose either Westbrook or Bayless. They'd be very happy bout that. Surprised the Clippers would trade up to get Gordon though. Maybe they hope the Wolves somehow take Lopez at 3 and Mayo falls to #4, I don't know. I think they could have stayed at #7 and still got Gordon FWIW.
  5. QUOTE (ChWRoCk2 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Wow, nice trade by the Bucks, get rid of Yi who never really fit in with Milwaukee and his agents didn't want him there. Jefferson's really not much else than a scorer though. Never been a good rebounder, and he's average defensively IIRC. Still he's the best player in the deal (might not be the case at the end of next season however).
  6. Getting rid of Yi also shows how desperate the Bucks were to get out of Bobby Simmons' contract. Surpised they got rid of him though. My guess is Golden State tries to acquire Yi however they can. Will they still take Joe Alexander at #8 with Jefferson there now though? If Gordon falls down to #8, would be pretty tempting to pick him if they are going to trade Redd.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:05 PM) Clippers acquired the 4th pick and will be taking bayless, imo. However, getting the 4th pick does give Miami a guarantee that if they move down they'd get a PG to put next to Wade. Richard Jefferson traded to the Bucks for Yi & Simmons I've heard they like Westbrook, it'll be him or Bayless they take. They could have stayed at #7 and took Gordon (who Seattle will probably take at #7 now), but they traded up for a PG it seems.
  8. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:04 PM) Magette has the ability to be a UFA so its not a forgone conclusion that he stays in LA. Donald Sterling loves him though. I wouldn't mind seeing him in Orlando for the MLE though, but he'll probably get more than that.
  9. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:52 PM) If Memphis was in the 2 spot, wouldn't they of had to trade with Miami, which would have given them the #2 and the Heat the #5? Instead, you have The Wolves at #5 and the Heat at #3. I'm taking it this is your idea of a 3 way trade possibility? My scenario had Miami and Memphis trading 1st, and then Miami trading with Minny to move back into the #3 spot to get Mayo. Or it could be a 3 way possibly.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:25 PM) What if the Heat are able to work it out to where they get a lineup consisting of: Hinrich Wade Deng Brand Insert Stiff Here That is a pretty dynamic 4some and isn't out of the realm of possibility (although it would be hard to pry Brand from the Clips without having a draft pick to give up in addition to Marion). Regardless of that Marion is gone gone gone and Hinrich/Wade/Deng is about as good of a trio of wing-men that you can have. I just wonder what the cap situation will be with that. Hinrich makes what $9M a season, Wade would be on about $17M or so, Deng will probably be on $10-12M a season, and Brand would be about $15M, that's a lot of money for 4 players, from around $48-53M or so. But yeah it could be doable, but the Heat would have to be under the cap enough for them to acquire that extra salary. Which means they'd have to trade Marion first. There were actually rumors in NY of Marbury and the #6 going to New York for Marion to re-unite with D'Antoni. I guess the Knicks would actually have a good wing defender for a change. But yeah, the Clippers won't do Marion for Brand straight up I wouldn't have thought, not when they already have Maggette and Al Thornton. The Heat may have to throw in a Haslem or some draft picks to make that deal happen.
  11. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 02:13 PM) The odds of getting a player as good as Deng/Hinrich at the 5 pick aren't that great. Miller is a solid player but Deng is better and I'd probably grade Hinrich in a similar mold to Miller. Lowry is incredibly over-rated. Therefor, I'm going to say the Bulls deal is better. Now if Mike Conley is involved in the deal, than it might get a little more interesting. Considering what Hinrich produced last season, and what his value around the league would be, and his sizeable contract, I'd rather the #5 pick myself, especially when you could get a Jerryd Bayless there who I consider a better prospect than Hinrich was coming out of college. Miami needs an outside shooter, and I'm sure palehosefan will probably back this up. But they heavily missed Kapono this last season. You have Wade driving to the paint on numerous occasions, you are going to need some shooters to open up the floor for him. Miller could easily be a 20PPG guy for the Heat. Is he as good as Deng? Probably not, but I'd say he's got a more well rounded offensive game. Lowry would be an ideal backup PG for the Heat. I like him as a scrapper, reminds me of Earl Watson a little. I would rather for a rebuilding team to get Miller, Lowry and Bayless than Deng and Hinrich, but that's JMHO. I'm just wondering how do the Heat fit Deng and Hinrich into their cap? They'd have to dump Marion on someone, and would they then be able to target Elton Brand? Probably why a trade down a spot to get O.J Mayo really makes the most sense for them if they are going after Elton. EDIT: Oh and I forgot 1 big thing, Memphis will take on Mark Blount's contract. Thinks it's got 2 years left at $8M or something like that. That's another positive for the Heat - Grizz deal.
  12. Yeah it is shipps. But when the #2 pick is basically up for grabs (which really never happens), there's going to be a lot of rumors thrown around. Whether or not it eventuates, we'll wait and see. I still think the Miller + Lowry + #5 pick for #2 is better than what the Bulls could offer at this stage, unless they can get creative. Would have to be Deng and Thomas IMHO at least. Hinrich or Gordon I don't think will be good enough to use with Tyrus.
  13. Kershaw's been very wild as well. Important that our hitters are very patient tonight. I don't want to see any "Juan Uribe popping up on the 1st pitch" scenarios happening here.
  14. DBAHO

    Why not Wise

OC's raised his average from the low .200's to around .275 and you want to replace him in the leadoff spot? He's been argubly our best hitter for the past month. It's the guys behind him who have been the problem.
  15. I'll say it now, the #2 pick is worth more than Luol Deng. Beasley will easily be a 20/10 player in the NBA, while Deng is basically a 2nd / 3rd offensive option on a good team.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) On top of that there was mention of the Bulls going after Al Harrington with the MLE. Is he even a FA? I thought I heard his name mentioned in the Baron Davis for Wallace and Billups talk a few days ago.
  17. Hinrich, Gordon and Thomas perhaps, I don't know if that would work cap-wise without the Heat giving up Marion also. Can't see it happening.
  18. Marion's an expiring contract though, so he's pretty valuable. I don't think Hinrich + Thomas would be enough (just that both guys' stock are way down on previous seasons). Marion and Banks for Odom and Walton or just straight up for Brand is more likely IMHO. Hinrich to the Bucks though, is something I could certainly see happening. Maybe a 3 way trade where they give up Redd or Maurice Williams / Villenueva.
  19. I still remember Survivor 2, oh those were the days. She has done very well for herself though after that.
  20. The Bulls would have to give up at least 2 future 1st's as well, if not more talent. But I doubt anything comes from this.
  21. I'll have you know I wrote a very long post, and then I got logged out (squeezing my stress ball at work crazy right now), but here we go again. Pretty much what I was going to say, this draft could be crazy tonight, there are so many different trade possibilities. I'll go through some various scenarios below; 1 - Maybe Miami doesn't want Beasley because they are going to target Brand, and they don't think that Brand - Haslem - Beasley can all co-exist. 2 - Miami may just really want Mayo instead because he'll fit a need. They could trade down with Memphis. #2 and Blount for #5, Miller and Lowry should get a deal done. But they'd need Minny to pass on him at #3 (doubtful) and who knows what Seattle will do at #4 (my guess is they'd take Mayo and move Durant to SF). 3 - Miami could try trading the #2 and Marion for the #7 and Brand possibly. 4 - The Knicks are heavily targeting Mayo still, and may want to trade up with either Memphis or Minny to get him. They're offering David Lee (would love him in Orlando) and Malik Rose IIRC, to try and move up. 5 - Jerryd Bayless if he isn't taken by Seattle, could slide a little. And he could be the best value pick in the draft in the top 10 IMHO. 6 - Seattle may take Westbrook at #4, and that's probably a little too high for him. They should go for Lopez or Bayless there IMHO. 7 - As for Lopez himself, he could go anywhere from #3 to Minny or slide all the way down to #9 at Charlotte. 8 - Charlotte at #9 may actually take Augustine, apparently Larry Brown isn't a huge fan of Raymond Felton's game (but Augustine's a pretty similar player, so I don't why that is). 9 - Milwaulkee seem set on taking Joe Alexander at #8. Hit it off with Skiles apparently. What they're going to do with 3 SF/PF's in Alexander, Jianlian and Villenueva though I don't know. My guess is Charlie's on the way out for a defensive PG/SG. 10 - Clippers seem set on Eric Gordon at #7, but they'll need to find a PG in FA. Don't think Livingstone will ever be a good PG in this league again unfortunately. 11 - As for Orlando, I'd love Brandon Rush to slide to 22, but my guess is he'll go in the teens, maybe to Cleveland. Probably Courtney Lee or Chris Douglas Roberts for our pick. So my last lottery mock; 1 - Bulls - Rose. They'll take the PG and local. 2 - Grizzlies - Beasley. They do the trade with Miami giving up Miller and Lowry and take Beasley. 3 - Heat - Mayo. They pull of a trade with Minny by giving up a future protected 1st to move up 2 spots to take their guy in Mayo. A lineup of Wade - Mayo - Miller - Marion - C with Lowry off the bench looks pretty good (if they wanted to go smallball). 4 - Sonics - Westbrook. Think this is a reach, but they go for the PG and dump Ridnour on someone. 5 - Wolves - Lopez. McHale takes the safe option and goes for the C after trading down. 6 - Knicks - Bayless. They'll take the combo guard who falls to them, and D'Antoni has his PG he can build around. 7 - Clippers - Gordon. They get a SG upgrade over Cuttino Mobley. If they can find a PG, re-sign Maggette and keep Brand, this will be a team to watch next season IMHO. 8 - Bucks - Alexander. Locked in at this spot, so I think it'll probably happen. 9 - Bobcats - Love. The Cats get a PF to use next to Okafor. Good fit for both sides. 10 - Blazers - Augustine. The Blazers trade up with New Jersey giving up their 1st and Jarrett Jack so McMillan can get his upgrade at the PG spot. 11 - Pacers - Randolph. With the trade for Ford, PG isn't a huge need now, so they'll take the best talent. 12 - Kings - Speights. PF's long been a problem area for the Kings with the likes of Abdul - Rahim and Kenny Thomas there. So they'll go for the need pick here. Brandon Rush is also a possibility though. 13 - Nets - Gallinari. They still get their guy after the trade down. Could be an excellent value pick here.
  22. This is the official draft thread for tonight. I would actually love to go, and there are tickets being sold at MSG at 11, but unfortunately I can't get out of work at that time.
  23. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 26, 2008 -> 01:32 AM) Everyone keeps talking about UFA's the Hawks need to go after, but Tallon really should be focusing on trying to make a deal with another team. According to HFBoards, Newsday came out today saying Bouwmeester wants out of Florida with OJ gone, and the future looking like s***. With the collection of prospects the Hawks have assembled, try moving a few of them for a difference maker. I feel like DT is sitting on a stockpile of fringe players right now, and has no plan for them. Bouwmeester's a guy who I would HEAVILY target. He's a #1 d-man even though his best is in front of him. But Florida would ask for the farm for him. I'd imagine at least 2 stud prospects and a 2009 first rounder as a minimum. Something like Beach + Skille for example. Unless he's a RFA, and you signed him to an offer sheet, then you'd have to give up 3 future 1st rounders or something.
  24. Portland's trying to move up to #10 to get D.J Augustin though, and that's who the Pacers want at #11. My guess is, that will happen, and the Pacers will select a forward at #11 in Anthony Randolph and then select the best big on the board at #17. Unless they want Mario Chalmers.
