QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) What is the logic behind that one for Charlotte? They want Roy Hibbert. Larry Brown just HAS to have a big defensive center.
-
Now the Pacers just need to dump Tinsley. But O'Neal will actually rebound and play defense unlike Bargnani who'll only jack up 3's. Good trade for both teams.
-
Oh how are Turkey not leading at half time!!!!! Jens Lehmann looks terrible in goal so far for the Germans. C'mon Turkey!!!

QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 25, 2008 -> 11:39 AM) I still don't get why there's 3 PGs and only 1 center... Well they guaranteed a spot to Kidd which was just stupid. They're going to try an uptempo game I guess, but like I said before, other teams aren't going to let them. I actually think Rasheed Wallace would have been a good fit also. Big man who can play C and hit the 3, dragging the opposing big man outside of the paint to open up the lane a little.

A lefty, oh goody. This could be a low scoring affair tonight. I imagine Hall might get a start maybe? -
Crede a late scratch tonight with "back stiffness"

You hope it's something that when we have these West Coast trips that it's not going to be a long - term issue as well. Because Crede's been one of our top 3 or 4 players so far this season offensively, even if he hasn't lived up to his lofty defensive standards of past seasons. -
If they're not going to use Prince at all, Lewis would have been a perfect 12th man along with Redd, to use in those games where they need to get those outside shots going. But because he got overshadowed by Hedo this season, that's probably why he didn't get an invite. That and Prince is a much better rebounder and defender.

Go Ivanovic. That is all.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox15 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 10:58 PM) I like what I'm seeing from Wise. But is he for real? He is 30 years old and has been up and down in the bigs since 2000. Could he just be a AAAA guy who is hot right now? You go with the hot hand currently, especially with how the offense has gone so far this season. It's too bad for BA though. -
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 01:02 PM) Pitching Pitching Pitching Pitching Pitching Exactly. This offense can remain inconsistent and streaky as hell, but if we're pitching well for the rest of the season, we're going to win 85 games and that will probably be enough in this division. The bullpen is absolutely critical also. They've got to keep getting the job done.

QUOTE (the People's Champ @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) Joe Borchard Jason Stumm Matt Ginter Kip Wells Jason Dellaero Scott Christman Need I go on? And these are just the White Sox picks. Sure its easy to pick the ones that make it, but for every one that does there is probably 10 that dont So are you suggesting that we trade for everyone's else's 1st round selections ala Quentin then?
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 01:26 PM) Most of the time it has been his fault, cause he's had extremely high pitch counts. I'm not knocking him, he's been fantastic this season but he definitely hasn't been economic with his pitches. Bingo. I'm a little suprised he's not being compared to the 2006 version of Javier Vazquez actually. Maybe that's because Danks' is actually pitching well though.

I like Spain to win it all actually. Argentina will be up there also.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 09:59 AM) THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID! Yeah the patio party was too expensive for the college crowd so we are going to gather and tailgate. We haven't planned where that will be exactly, but we will figure it out and get details to everyone. I'll bring the Fosters.

Cook's just on an insane pace right now.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 12:11 PM) That is, again, going to be the downfall of the team. Can you imagine that roster with the international teams packed inside the lane ready to take a charge(flop) at any moment? Not pretty. Rip Hamilton would have been a much better choice than Prince. One of the main things they should be learning is nothing but ball movement around the 3 point line to get as many open looks as possible. Because once you do that, then teams are going to come out at you more if you can hit those shots, and that will open up the lanes inside.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 24, 2008 -> 09:40 AM) In that case you have three damned good post scorers on the roster to collapse the middle and open up the driving lanes. Boozer's argubly more of a pick and roll guy. Bosh is basically a jump shooter in a big man's body IMHO, although his athleticism will get him some open looks. As for my man Dwight, he just doesn't have much of an array of low post moves. He's getting better, but his job on this team should be to rebound to start the break and block as many shots as possible. So I think that's still a weakness when you look at the overall makeup of the team.
-
Things are bad when Adam Jones is feeling sorry for you now.
-
That's an insane number of groundouts. I've heard the Heath Phillips comparisons, and Richard is going to have to find a way to strike guys out somehow at the major league level if he wants to be successful, but with those amount of groundouts he's generating, he may have a future with the organization after all. It's ended up being a very good 7th-8th round selection by the Sox a couple of years back though ATM.
-
They'll still struggle when opposing teams slow the pace of the game down to a crawl, and play nothing but zone, forcing the likes of Wade to jack up 3's. That's the only reason Michael Redd's on the team BTW.
-
FWIW on Swish, here are his splits so far this season; April - .213/.372.337 May - .176/.272/.275 June - .329/.413/.600 In my mind, he's going to have a Joe Crede of 2005 type of season where 1 bad month will basically drag his overall numbers down.
-
Good to hear on Ladd. It'll be interesting to see if he's used as a top 6 forward or on the 3rd line though. But I liked what I saw of him in his time here, and power forwards like him do take time to mature. There were rumors of the Canes trading Ruutu for Pitkanen also a few days ago FWIW.
-
He was last season, and for the 1st 2 months he was sort of flying under the radar due to Danks' and Floyd's emergences, had an ERA around 3.5 IIRC. But this month MB has improved while JV has gone backwards. I've got faith that Javy will turn it around though.
-
Vazquez had something like a 6.92 ERA this month in 4 starts IIRC. I'm just hoping it's him going through one of those periods where he struggles, and it's not something else. Because the guy has been an absolute workhorse over the past 5 seasons or so, and he would have thrown over 1000IP up to that point, and we've seen first hand how that type of workload can hurt a pitcher at certain points like it did with Mark Buehrle in 2006.
