Trade deadline
I think mainly still upgrading the bench should be a key for KW. Bring in an upgrade to Ozuna, who just isn't used that much anymore for starters. And another guy for the pen as well, if Russell doesn't work out, because I don't know if you can rely on Loaiza / Wasserman / Mac at this stage. I don't think this team needs a big name get. They didn't back in 2005 (much to everyone's chagrin, we want Ken Griffey Jr.!!!!) and that worked out just fine. As for Durham, if the price was right, I would be on board for that, but I'd only offer Uribe and a mid level spect.

When We Left Earth
And didn't Bush say a few years back that he wanted men on Mars by 2025 or something?

Bill Bavasi Fired
Protecting his arm before his big payday obviously. Still they should ask Bavasi about some of the contracts he gave out, and see his responses on that.

2007-08 NBA Thread
It's crazy that Thibodeau's not going to have a head coaching job next season IMHO. But the Celtics defensively were just superb on Kobe, and the Lakers could not score ANYTHING inside. Gasol and Odom were basically afterthoughts in this series. The guy they really missed was Andruw Bynum.

Mets Fire Randolph, Manuel Named Interim
Beltran hasn't really been the same player since his contract season in Houston. Another case of Adrian Beltre syndrome I guess, although Beltran is still a very, very good player. At least it's not Andruw Jones type of production (remember how much people wanted to sign him over the off-season)?

Dewayne Wise is up Paul Konerko to the DL
At least BA should play everyday for 2 weeks now. Or at least I hope so instead of Uribe at 2B and Alexei at CF.

Mets Fire Randolph, Manuel Named Interim
Right now, they're just lacking in offense and a decent pen, although Wagner has been good save for this week. Ryan Church has been their best hitter, which shows you how well the likes of Beltran, Delgado etc. have done so far. Although David Wright would probably be up there also, he's performed fairly well so far. They're stuck with an aging Luis Castillo for 4 seasons also. Getting Santana was a great move though (even though Gomez has been quite good for Minny so far).

Mets Fire Randolph, Manuel Named Interim
They fired Rick Peterson also the esteemed pitching coach.Players such as Delgado have massively underachieved. Minaya deserves at least some of the blame for signing aging injury prone players such as Alou.

Yeah that's not good news at all. Hopefully he makes a full recovery.

Bill Bavasi Fired
He has made some terrible decisions though. Overpaying for Beltre and Sexson. Trading Rafael Soriano for Horatio Ramirez. Signing Wilkerson for $3M and then cutting him. He's just done nothing to fix that offense really. My guess is, they blow it up and build around Bedard, Felix and Ichiro.

Bill Bavasi Fired
No surprise really, he was really the worst GM in the game today; http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/mari..._webmari16.html

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) I have realized saying hello to a co worker in passing at my job is a HUGE commitment.Once I say hello to that person passing by Iam bound to say hello to them EVERYDAY that I see them.Because if I dont say hello one day they will think Iam an ass and wonder why Iam not saying hello anymore. So for now on Iam going to be very selective with my new hello arrangements because I just cant fit anymore god damn hello's in the day. It could be worse, it could be a "kiss hello".

Boston
QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 01:46 PM) I'm another one who really loves Boston. The Freedom Trail is a great way to see the town, and it passes by enough pubs that it easily doubles as a pub crawl route. Really amazing history to see – the grave sites of Samual Adams, Crispus Attucks and others, the Old North Church ("One if by land, and two if by sea"), the site of the Boston Massacre, etc. Anyone into colonial American history will love it. Aussies will enjoy drinking through it. The best beer bar in Boston – and one of the best anywhere, imo, is Anam Cara on Beacon Street. Unbelievable selection on draft and in bottles, and one of the best Belgian selections I've ever seen. I've got no worries about that. The Sam Adams Tour sounds pretty cool, we might try to do that first, and then maybe hit up the Freedom Trail in the afternoon, before hitting up some bars at night, will definitely check out Anam Cara knowing your tastes in beers over the years Jim. Most of the other guys who want to go just want to check out Boston and especially for the atmosphere that it'll be like if the Celtics end up winning the title. Hell, they might even have a parade on the weekend possibly, which would be pretty cool to see (even though I'm not a fan of them).

Konerko injures rib cage, may hit DL
I'd let Paulie rest up for 15, and have him healthy to key this offense in the 2nd half, because if you look at his splits, he is notorious for being a 2nd half hitter. I think BA deserves to be starting however, and I rather him get AB's than say call up Owens and have him play everyday. And that's with Swisher at 1B and Ramirez at 2B. Don't want to see Uribe in there playing.

Honda's first production Hydrogen Cell car rolls off the line
There needs to be plenty of those made over the next decade. Are American Motoring Companies starting to develop these type of vehicles also? Because, otherwise they'll be left in financial ruin.

2007-08 NBA Thread
If Perkins isn't right to play in game 6 though, I can see the Lakers stealing a win there. Because I mean Pierce played insane last night and Kobe was terrible except for the 1st 5 mins of the game, and yet the Lakers still won. So that should give them a little bit of hope. But Kobe is the key, he's got to pick it up against Pierce.

Home at 6 this morning, followed by a 9:30 tour of the Brooklyn Bridge. And I'm on the booze again tonight. Good times.

2007-08 NBA Thread
To call Gasol an inconsistent role player is a bit harsh. Still he hasn't really delivered in this series, but Odom and Kobe haven't either. Boston's suffocating D has been the difference.

Can't really say I'm familiar with that one. More fun to be had tonight also. Perfect drinking weather today.
