  1. Seriously, since the end of 2005 has this been the best week to be a White Sox fan over the past 7 days?
  2. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 07:51 PM) Peace.....of crap. Cowboys material. Marion the Barbarian and Felix Jones will do just fine thanks.
  3. Wouldn't say Alexander has much left, he's pretty slow and gimpy now. Kevin Jones would be an interesting choice though. I have the Bears at 6-10 currently. No decent QB, and no real good RB's or WR's of note.
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 9, 2008 -> 01:03 PM) If that's true then why did they even talk to D'Antoni? Probably because of his record as a coach, plus he's a "name" guy who'll put butts in seats. Just seems weird how you can go from D'Antoni, to Doug Collins and now Del Negro. I hope Pax knows what he's doing. His job probably rests on how Del Negro works out.
  5. It's over 100 degrees in New York today and the air conditioner isn't working in my little area of the building I work in. Sweet.
  6. I would doubt so. Paxson really wanted a "defensive" type of coach, hence the interest in Doug Collins. Can't see a huge change in philosophy there. Hence why I thought Thibodeau would have been a good fit (considering the job he's done in Houston and Boston). But we'll see how Vinny does. He'll be under pressure from the start to produce though. Let's see if he's up to it.
  7. I think when you look at this team also over the past 5 seasons, the 1 thing the Sox have had when they have been very succesful, is a really good bullpen. They had it in 2005, and knock on wood, they've got it right now. That to me makes a huge difference when it's said and done for your overall record. I always said at the end of last season, if we had a decent pen, we could have been a .500 team, that's how bad MacDougal and Thornton were, and how many leads in the 7th/8th we blew last season. KW recognized that, went out and got Dotel and Linebrink who have been fantastic so far, and you couldn't ask for anything more from them. And sure he may have overpaid, but looking at the numbers, it's looking pretty good right now.
  8. Thought they may have waited for Thibodeau, but I guess Pax wanted it resolved sooner rather than later. Interesting hire though. Del Negro's got a fantastic opportunity to coach a winning team though.
  9. Ok I'm up for that. Definitely Saturday, and I'll say Sunday as well (if you guys are going to that as well).
  10. How does this guy compare to say Kendry Morales at the same age Cubano? Because Morales just hasn't really put it together at the majors yet, although he's been blocked by the likes of Kotchman, Anderson etc., so he probably needs to get out of that organization for his own benefit.
  11. Ok, well I'd like to sit in a group with all of you, but if we're just going to get our own tickets, I guess we'll just do that.
  12. The jump from high A to AA ball isn't that much of a jump, simply for the fact that pitching in B-Ham is such a pitchers' haven. So I would expect Poreda to still have pretty similar numbers, although the opposition will be tougher obviously. Long - term I see him in the pen also. Broadway's out in front of him at this stage (obviously being at AAA and pitching well).
  13. He has strengths and weaknesses like all GM's, but he's a bonafide top 10, if not top 5 GM in baseball currently. For the most part any trades etc. he has pulled he has come out on top of the majority of the time. Of course I'd like for our system to be better and for us to sign more guys out of Latin America, but hopefully those things can improve in the future.
  14. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Jun 8, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) DBAHO, how do you get from Australia to the Belmont Stakes? I'm living in New York for a year on a internship / exchange sort of program. Having an awesome time really.
  15. Biggest fall from grace I have seen. 1 minute everyone is cheering for him, and then when they run into the home straight everyone started booing. Quite hilarious really. He was gone when they started going round the final turn. I did manage to see Shaq as well, and was pretty close to him. Someone asked him who was going to win the finals, he said Boston. Pretty funny.
  16. Headed out there tomorrow. Can't bring alcohol into the track (boooo). So is Big Brown a shoo-in, or should I put some money on a roughie in the feature race?
  17. Saw this about Morel; Are we? I guess if Crede leaves, we'll need a backup for Fields, but I wouldn't say we're really "in need" of a 3rd baseman.
  18. If we can get Danks' signed, that really helps turn around the overall draft for us. I mean this guy was a borderline 2nd round pick, and because of his demands', he's slipped to the 7th. We need to hit on some of these mid-rounders as well, and try to find another Chris Carter or a B-Mac.
  19. Haven't seen him in any top 100's. Looks like a reach.
  20. Keep him away from Walker; Hitting Ability: Beckham is a line-drive hitter who consistently squares up on the ball and works the count to his advantage.
  21. Texas have a replacement for Teixeira. That has worked out quite well for them really (except they need to start playing Salty everyday).
  22. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jun 5, 2008 -> 02:01 PM) Ramirez, Getz, Richar? Ramirez could play SS. Getz is an utility man at best. Richar is the wild card. Needs to start hitting at Charlotte if he wants to get back on the 25 man roster by the end of the season.
