QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 07:04 PM) So are you saying Hughes for Wade straight up?? If so, then what you're saying makes sense. If you're saying Hughes AND THE NUMBER ONE OVERALL PICK IN THE NBA DRAFT for Wade, then no, it doesn't make sense. Listen, if you could guarantee that it is the pre-injury superstar Wade the Bulls are getting, than by all means, you take the sure-bet over the gamble that is the number one draft pick. But you CANNOT know for sure what Wade you're getting, so why take TWO gambles, on Wade's health AND Rose blowing up into a younger, better superstar for another team?? Why potentially set the heat up for dominance for the next 10 years or so in your own conference when you can possibly do it for your own team?? It just doesn't make sense... No definitely not Hughes for Wade straight up (unless you're Kevin McHale trading with Boston here). Wade gives you 25 points a game, and is a top 5 player in the league. palehosefan will probably know more, but Wade to me wasn't as injured as people were making out, and just because of Miami's record, there was no real point of playing him towards the end of the season. And he's only 25-26, not even hit his prime argubly yet. What if Rose becomes the next Baron Davis? Good but not great by any means. Could very well happen.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:54 PM) Sounds like a good trade for both sides DBAHO. I would then hope the Heat would deal Haslem to your Magic for your 1st and whatever filler needed. Heat: PG. Rose SG. DQ Cook/Hughes SF. Wright/Beasley PF. Beasley/Alexander Johnson C. Blount/Robin Lopez I'm not sure what to do about Marion though, doubt he would be crazy about playing SF in that lineup in year 1. Redick and the 22nd for Haslem I would do in an instance. Not sure if Miami would go for that though. That's dependent on us resigning Mo Evans though. Rose and Beasley to build around, and then with Marion's expiring contract, the Heat could go after Melo / LeBron in 2010.

13/2 GO/FO ratio for Floyd tonight.
-
Just get on base in front of CQ, he'll do the rest.
-
Uhh Matusz at #8 would be a fantastic result for the Sox, unless you would prefer a Brett Wallace there instead. I'll re-post the Cashner write up from SS;
-
QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Jun 3, 2008 -> 04:25 PM) Yes. Anyone affiliated with the heat would. Noone else in their right mind would. Hughes is a me first overrated injury prone SG with a horrible shooting %. Can't see why if the Bulls had a chance to deal him and get a superstar in return, why they wouldn't do it. The Heat also have Marion's expiring contract after this season, so they could be major players in FA from the next off-season.
-
Wade for Hughes and the 1st. Would anyone do that (would be fairly close cap wise)? Hinrich Wade Deng Gooden Noah The Bulls could try getting a trade exception from dealing Gordon also possibly. I suppose the lure of having Hinrich and Wade in the same backcourt, Wade would be ballhandling a lot from the SG spot.
-
He's got his 05 mojo back. Doing a great job with the rotation and the pen.
-
Michael Curry will take over. It may also buy "Sheed" another season in Mo-Town. Flip's a decent coach, but he's just never gotten his teams over the hump in the playoffs. He'll definitely surface somewhere else, and may get some consideration for the Phoenix job.
-
Pat Riley would be INSANE to do that. Wade is worth more than Rose or Beasley this point because he's proven (albeit still injury prone). Would have to be Wade for the #1 pick surely (with cap filler being thrown in to make the deal work).
-
Nice article. At least Owens could be up for Wise also, but I guess they want him getting AB's as much as possible. So when are the weekly shows coming back guys?

And their top 25 in detail;

SaberScouting's top 100;

Right now, for comparisons sake, I'd probably think a lot of Yuniesky Betancourt when I think of Ramirez. But I think Alexei's capable of producing more pop offensively, which he's shown over the past few days, but I think Betancourt's probably the better of the 2 defensively, even though Alexei is more versatile (which will definitely help him in the future, although it'd be good if he could settle down at 1 position for a while).

Certainly a bit of action in this thread this afternoon. On the Uribe the LAD rumors, asking for Kemp is just silly. Chin - Lung Hu is the guy I'd ask for. Young, cheap, and although he's only hitting something like .176 currently, you move him to a better offensive park, and he's a pretty dynamite defensive SS who'd be under your control for a good 5 seasons. That's unless you could get Kuo somehow, even though he's got an arm that's extremely wild, he's got pretty damn good stuff. And if he could show he could hit (Hu), you wouldn't need OC in 2009 (and you could trade him for the right piece or just take the draft picks).
-
Yeah it's a no brainer. Until he's stops hitting, Alexei is the guy. Uribe's defense has been excellent, but Alexei's offensive production over the past few weeks outweighs that. And Ramirez hasn't been terrible at 2nd base defensively by any means. This team needs all of the hot hitters they can get ATM.

I think the frustrating thing is the guys at the top and bottom of the lineup are actually doing ok-ish. Guys like Pierzynski and Crede have had solid seasons, Ramirez has provided a real spark since he joined the lineup, Dye for the most part has produced well, Quentin has been fantastic, and O-Cab is starting to hit. It's 2 guys in Thome and Konerko who are so important, in terms of producing with runners on (I need to check their numbers with RISP), and they haven't done the job. Now you know, they're not this bad. But can you rely on Walker to fix them? Paulie has turned it around, and he is generally a slow starter and a 2nd half hitter. Has Thome's bat slowed down for good though? I wouldn't actually mind now that I think about it, just give Fields a chance by putting Paulie on the DL for 15 days, and seeing what Fields does. I know he's not hitting well down at Charlotte, but who knows, he may come up here and suddenly start producing. Give this team a spark offensively. A jump, to kickstart some of the other guys. And I would say KW had a VERY GOOD off-season. The moves he made, basically all of those guys (bar Swisher and O-Cab early on) have all produced. The bullpen was a major weakness, now Linebrink and Dotel have shored that up. Quentin was a flat out steal. KW's best trade he's ever made as a GM ATM that one. It's the guys already on the team in your Thome's and Konerko's that haven't produced, and the blame lies with them for our subpar offense. Them and Greg Walker.
-
QUOTE (quickman @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) thats great the pirates organization what a great org. And yet that guy probably didn't have a lot of talent to work with did he (you can thank Dave Littlefield for that). Of course I'm just saying that, I know absolutely nothing about the guy (29th I assume would know a little), so I don't know how good of a teacher he is etc. I'm just ready to move on from Walker. He's had a couple of years, and for the most part almost every hitter on our team who has been there for that point has regressed offensively. Totally unacceptable IMHO.
-
Basically it's firing Walker or moot to me. Just look at the #'s. We play in one of the best offensive ballparks in baseball, and yet we've been a subpar offensive team for around the last 2 years. Something has to give. I would also move Swisher to the #3 spot possibly to try and get him going. Or at least somewhere higher up in the order. But then you don't really want to move CQ from there do you. Thome and Konerko struggling are the 2 real problems though. Paulie should go on the DL if he's not completely 100% with that hand, and give someone like BA etc. some more chances in the lineup for a while, just a different mix. Thome has just had an all round terrible May, hitting bout .180. There really has to be major questions about whether his bat speed is just slowing right down now unfortunately, until he proves otherwise.

White Sox vs Tampa Bay road trip finale Sunday June 1st, 2008
DBAHO replied to southsider2k5's topic in 2008 Season in Review
When was the last time we would of had 8 hits midway through a game. Keep it up fellas. -
Richard is comparable to Heath Phillips though. Don't think he's really in the Sox's long term plans right now. Good to see him pitching well though.
-
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 30, 2008 -> 07:41 PM) Out before finishing 4. Not pretty. And I threw him tonight in one fantasy league. Ugh... Yeah he was pretty wild last night. Just kept walking hitters in the 3rd and 4th, so he's obviously still got some control issues to deal with. Couldn't really find the strike zone in those innings.
-
I'm fine with how things stand ATM. If Swisher starts to get hot, then you can look at moving him back up, but if AJ is still doing well in the #2 spot, then you don't have to move him from there either. But the #'s show that AJ hasn't been doing that well in the #2 spot, so I guess we could see a change there at some point, but then again, if the team keeps winning, there's no real reason to change things up there for the sake of it. After this season, if OC leaves, we'll need a new leadoff hitter, which Swisher could be given the opportunity of claiming again, but a player such as Rafael Furcal would really fit a big need there.
-
Seeing him in person tonight against the Mets at Shea. Really looking forward to seeing that filthy curveball of his, mixed in with his fastball / change combo. Is he the best young pitcher to come into the majors over the past season and a bit, or would you rather have a Max Scherzer for example?
-
Ummm, wow. Interesting couple of episodes there. Guess Season 5 will be working out how to get back to the island.
