Vazquez has 1 bad month, and people are ready to throw him off the bus. Buehrle wasn't very good in the 1st 2 months too FWIW, and he's come around very nicely since. I'm not worried about Javier, he'll pick it up.

QUOTE (JFields27 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) I thought Boyle wanted to go east to the New York area Haven't heard that, but that might be Campbell you're thinking of?
-
I like what Edmonton has done today also. Especially if they somehow sign Hossa. 12/100 is just crazy though.
-
Huet, hmmmm. Well I was pushing very hard for him mid - season. And he did play a major role in the Caps getting to the playoffs. Does anyone think Khabibulin could be on his way to Tampa Bay for Dan Boyle? There's been rumors here and there of them asking him to waive his no trade clause FWIW.

TCSN: Orioles Interested in Uribe; News on Danks

QUOTE (WCSox @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 11:58 AM) Why in the heck would the Sox deal the face of their franchise to a competitive team when they're in first place? That doesn't make any sense. Neither does dealing the best defensive infielder in the organization for an A-baller or fringe prospect when, again, the Sox are in first place. This isn't exactly the time to be throwing away a good insurance policy for a fringe minor-leaguer. Just on that, do people consider Konerko to be the face of the franchise, or Buehrle? Because I'd be inclined to go with Mark myself, but that's JMHO. And some of that I'm basing on how everyone stated last season at this point how important it was to re-sign Mark Buehrle. And I mean re-signing Konerko when he was a FA after 2005 was important too. But there wasn't the same uproar IIRC, if he was going to leave for say Baltimore or Anaheim. -
That's a big signing with Upchurch right there. Props to the Sox Brass for getting it done.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:27 PM) Such a cancer that the Rangers made the playoffs with him. And then you could argue, got his team eliminated from the playoffs also. I want no part of him and his act, especially since he ain't dating Elisha Cuthbert either. If he was, then maybe I could let it slide.

TCSN: Orioles Interested in Uribe; News on Danks

If you could bring in an IF at the deadline to replace Uribe, then yeah I'd get rid of him. But if he goes, we'll need someone to play backup SS. Do you want to give that role to Ozuna, or even Ramirez? There lies the problem. -
QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jul 1, 2008 -> 12:09 PM) Supposedly there is a rumor that Boston is going to offer $12 per for Hossa.....if that is true its f***ing insane. They only have about $7M in cap room. They'd need to clear out salary (Glen Murray may need to be bought out for starters), for that to happen.

That 2nd rounder could be used in another trade, was in the Havlat deal a couple of seasons ago (hence why we didn't have a 2nd rounder in this year's draft). Let the fun begin!!!!

Hmm that's pretty good compensation, although Bourque was a good 3rd line scrapper and penalty killer. Maybe going with one of the young guys in his spot next season perhaps, unless they play Ladd on the 3rd line.

Maggette's been rumored to sign with either Orlando or New Orleans. The most we can offer is the MLE, and Maggette's probably worth more than that. The thing is, is he going to get more money from anyone else? The Clippers are after Davis and want to re-sign Brand. The Warriors made a huge offer for Arenas, 5/100 also FWIW. A lineup of Nelson, Maggette, Turkoglu, Lewis and Howard looks pretty good. Still need a big at the 4 spot though. And if we signed Maggette, we'd lose Keyon Dooling for sure, and I think SVG wants him back big time.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 01:30 PM) Yes there are,me and my buddys were talking about that during the game last night. And I really hate when they come on when Iam visiting my grandparents, very awkward. How does the conversation go after seeing one of those then?

QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 30, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) Southsider, since this will be my first softball game, where will it be taking place? Also, how many people are going to the game after? There's a list on the previous page or 2 on this thread of who's definitely coming / maybe etc. I think the plan is tailgating afterwards, and then going to game, but different groups will probably be sitting in different areas at the stadium etc.
-
That's pretty crazy Keith. You've experienced football hooliganism now (and unfortunately, things like this happen way too often).
-
I think Redden is definitely a better defensive defenseman than Streit, but offensively they're pretty similar. San Jose will probably target Redden after they lose Campbell most likely anyways. I'd still rather taregt Bouwmeester.
-
Konerko is a bonafide 2nd half hitter in his career. Let him rest up and get completely healthy until the ASB. Now's a good chance to see what BA is made of for the next couple of weeks anyways. Paulie will be back in the lineup when he's ready, and I think he could go on a tear. He's not going to keep hitting .215.
-
Bit late, but Happy Birthday Keith!

Tampa's really going for it, loading up around Vinny. They'll have some very nice top 6 forwards next season, especially if they can sign Rolston. Vinny St. Louis Prospal Stamkos Malone Rolston

Well I mean hitting at the Cell, so many times a ball that could be a double in a lot of other parks could be a HR at the Cell. So obviously they have such a good home record, because they win when they hit the longball, and it happens so often at the Cell. Hence, why KW tried to bring in more OBP guys in the off-season to create a more balanced attack. And for the most part it's worked, as guys like Swisher (hasn't hit for power, but his OBP is still very good considering what his BA is) and OC (been our best hitter in June argubly) have been huge upgrades on the likes of Uribe and Mackowiak from past seasons.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 29, 2008 -> 10:37 PM) But Camby can still get it done- a DPOY candidate every year. BTW- I think they could do a lineup of Rose, Deng, TT, Camby, Noah. And, there is a way- Rose doesn't live up to potential ROY hype, Deng has another 15 ppg year, TT doesn't progress, and Camby turns into Ben Wallace (with more scoring). I mean with Camby yeah he'd been a DPOY candidate consistently, but he's a pretty soft center still, so he can get scored on quite a bit, although he'll explode every now and then block wise, and he's a top rebounder. I look at the East right now, Boston and Detroit are the obvious top 2. Then a group of Orlando, Cleveland and Toronto. The Bulls could easily join that group next season if they play to their potential.
-
But it shows how important the pen has been to getting us to where we are compared to last season. Biggest factor IMHO.
-
Yeah would be a good move for both sides IMHO. Camby's what 34 though, but then you could use Noah off the bench in the Varejao role. Really if this happens, there's no excuse if the Bulls aren't at least in the top 6 in the East next season.

BOOO YAH!!!!! Buehrle has been fantastic in the month of June, and that continued tonight. Keep it up please Mark, because you are this team's ace and we need you pitching like that. Quentin another solo shot, and BA!!!!!!!!!!! Let's keep the momentum going because we've got 2 teams in the Tigers and Twins who are going to be snapping at our heels for the rest of the season.
