Zazueta with an ERA of 1.76 now. Doing nicely so far in Kanny.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 11:33 PM) The final 2 minutes of the match were good, I'll give them that. But damn, that match was constant submission after rest hold for an hour. A long match does not equal a good match. That match was ri-f***ing-diculously long and boring. It was not good. Typical WWE match though, which is why the WWE sucks. Vince can't handle fast paced action. HBK is still a hell of a worker. I wish they would get Cena just to feud with Vince for a while, and let Edge and HBK have a 3 month program for the belt. They would put on some great matches.

Southside Report: Run Support, Pitching, and Firey Debate
DBAHO replied to Chisoxfn's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Pretty hard hitting on Anderson there Jason. Good show again guys. -
Just going to go off topic here for a minute, if we signed Ichiro does he play in LF or in CF for you (which he's doing this season for the Mariners)? What do you do with Pods? Do you let him go, move Erstad over, or give Sweeney the LF job? What about Josh Fields? Do you let him start in LF or do you trade Joe Crede to open up 3B for Fields? When it's all said and done, unless Darin Erstad can produce a +.750OPS, I think we're going outside the organization to address this LF/CF need that we're having.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 02:47 PM) Barring some sort of disaster he'll be in Bham by the ASB, if not sooner. However, with the Sox depth of outfielders (Anderson, Sweeney, Fields and I guess Owens deserves to be mentioned too just because Ozzie is a fan of his speed and I'll admit he's really made some strides with his swing) there really is no reason to rush Cunningham and I think thats why the Sox are giving him more time in Winston Salem as opposed to having him open the year in Bham. Note: Until Crede is moved I will mention Fields as both an outfielder and infielder because he's completely capable of being an average to above avg left fielder (defensively speaking). Also it's probably good for Cunningham to build up some momentum, get his confidence up so he earns that promotion to B-Ham, instead of him starting the season there and possibly not hitting the ball as well as he is now due to the higher level and tougher ballpark to hit in. I don't think he'll be down in W-S for too long either though.

QUOTE(3E8 @ Apr 24, 2007 -> 01:54 PM) They both keep the ball on the ground, but Webb does it so much better than anyone else. Webb's G/F was 3x greater than Egbert's G/F last season. And bringing in such a good defensive second baseman in Orlando Hudson was really a big reason in Webb's stellar season last year. Shows how important it is to have a good defense if you have a lot of groundball pitchers, which I think is the Sox's plan for most of the young pitching they're developing. Guys like Egbert sort of fit that mould anyway.

I almost long for the days of Aaron Rowand here which is saying something in itself. If BA's not giving 100% effort as well, it's probably time to make a move and trade him to a team like Florida for young pitching.

Happy Birthday Jason!!!!

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Apr 22, 2007 -> 01:12 PM) I think the Magic played surprisingly well, if not for the horribleness at the free throw line you guys could have very easily won that game. Rasheed Wallace wont be as good as he was today for most of the games, he couldnt miss it seemed. Detroit are just going to use the Hack a Howard strategy, until he starts making free throws. Honestly just on Dwight Howard if Clifford Ray stayed as the Magic big man coach, Howard would be a top 5 player in the NBA already. Instead, Ray has moved to Boston and you saw the massive improvements Al Jefferson made in his game this season. Howard may still become that type of player in the future but for now without Ray his development has been stunted. And like I've said before, I'd give up anyone not named Howard to acquire Deron Williams. I'm sick of smaller guards like Jameer Nelson who don't distribute the ball on the offensive side, being abused by taller guards like Chauncey Billups on the defensive side of the ball. And there's been rumors of a Andre Miller for Nelson deal as well. -

Sigh. 43% from the line and 18TO's so far. We've wasted shooting over 57% from the field, and it's the same story all season. Dwight 3 for 11 from the line. That's embarrising. -
AZ D-Backs young prospects not working out yet
DBAHO replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
They'll be fine in the long run. Lucky to be hitting in a good ballpark too. The D-Backs just need to develop some young pitching to go with that young core. -
QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Apr 21, 2007 -> 02:29 PM) http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines Oh that would be a dream scenario. Realistically though, if anyone was going to buy the Hawks who would that person be?
-
Hopefully this game sets the trend for our meetings with Detroit this season. We've owned them for the majority of the past couple of seasons and hopefully that trend can continue.

I see Ryan Wing hasn't given up an ER in 9.1IP so far as well.
-
And to think Aardsma almost didn't make the team out of Spring Training. Certainly glad that didn't happen.
-
Eduardo Perez would have been nice to have on the bench then. Oh well, let's hope the pen can do the job and hold down this lead.

Charlotte beat Ottawa 3-1. Sweeney homered for his 2nd of the year. Floyd pitched 6 innings, 5H's, 3BB's, 6K's and 1ER. ERA down to 2.50 now. Charlotte Box B-Ham's currently 1-0 down in the 4th. Honel is pitching tonight, so far 4IP, 3BB's, 1K and 1ER. Collaro with the only hit so far. B-Ham Box Winston - Salem currently down 5-4 in the top of the 7th. Schnurstein has homered, playing 1B tonight as well. Rodriguez started, 2ER in 5IP giving up 9H's. Warthog Box Kanny lost 3-1. Matt Long started, 5IP, 3ER, 1BB and 1K. Carter and Gartrell both had 1 hit each. Kanny Box

Time for that clutch hit again Joe.

C'mon A.J. All we need is a Sac Fly here.

Damn I missed 420 then. What a shame.

QUOTE(quickman @ Apr 20, 2007 -> 07:54 PM) It drives you nuts doesn't it? Just for comparisons sake, let's have a look at some Center Fielder's who have recently started at the major league level in their 1st season (or currently in); Brian Anderson - .225/.290/.359 Chris Young - .191/.235/.340 Grady Sizemore (2004) - .246/.333/.406 Willy Taveras - .291/.325/.341 Curtis Granderson - .260/.335/.438 Chris Duffy - .255/.317/.338 Jeremy Reed - .254/.322/.352 So I'd say BA would be in the middle to lower half of those. And yet his 2nd half splits in 06 .257/.301/.393, that shows improvement and is better than the majority of OPS's put up on that list. In all of this, no-one is saying Brian Anderson will be an all star this season if he's given the chance. We're saying compared to the competition in Darin Erstad (OPS's of .696, .605 and currently .461) and the injury prone Scott Podsednik, he looks like a player who has the better chance at improving and putting up decent numbers, well at least that for me. And I think what annoys us, is that there wasn't a competition in Spring Training for that CF spot as Ozzie Guillen said there would be. Because if there was based on ST numbers Brian Anderson would be your starting center fielder. And Addison, the thing is with young hitters, they take time. Did we bail on Joe Crede after 1 season because he didn't put up good offensive numbers? No we didn't. Did we bail on Jon Garland while we waited for that potential of his to come through? No we didn't. And compared with those examples, Brian Anderson hasn't gotten that chance.

I've been overseas 4 times already which has been pretty good. Once to China, visiting Beijing, Shanghai and based in Nanjing. Visited places like the Great Wall, terible pollution though. Then to Malaysia and based in Kuala Lumpur. Enjoyed this more than China, great markets for shopping, got a West Ham soccer jersey for about $5 Aussie Dollars. They also have the biggest Water Park in the Southern Hemisphere there, and everything is so cheap. Well worth a visit if you're going to experience Asia. Then twice to America. Once to Phoenix, also visiting the Grand Canyon and San Diego, and the 2nd time in Salt Lake City. Preferred being based in Phoenix as I prefer the heat, however going to the snow at Snowbird was pretty cool also. Would like to visit America again, but also travel to Canada and Europe, especially England and Germany. Going to something like Oktoberfest would be cool to do.

Whisler needs to improve that K rate of his.

Offensively he's not a top 5 3rd baseman. Cabrera, Wright, Zimmerman, A-Rod and Aramis Ramirez would probably be the 5-some there, although you could argue for Atkins over Zimmerman (I expect Ryan to keep improving though). Defensively he certainly is though. So where does that put him in the shape of things? Somewhere around the middle. He's not a top 5 guy for mine, but he's certainly in the top 10, be around the 6-8 mark I'd say. Can't see the Angels trading for him when; a) They'd rather get a Miggy Tejada or A-Rod as that major bat besides Vladdy and; B) Brandon Wood is coming along. But I think in the off-season he will probably be dealt, and Fields will take over. Crede for some young pitching I'd imagine. Teams that would be interested, the Padres (if Kouzmakoof (didn't spell that right)) didn't come along this season, the D-Backs (if they traded Chad Tracy), the Brewers if they move Ryan Braun to an OF spot, the Dodgers because Colletti likes his vets and he's traded prospects so a player like LaRoche could be traded etc. so there are certainly a lot of possibilities still in a deal.
